T-minus 5 years and counting. The Ed Werder thing is nuts to me, too.

LeBrun and Burnside are gone, possibly Buccigross. Bucci's contract is up in July anyways, so there are rumors they might just wait that out. EDIT: LeBrun will continue at TSN, btw, but will no longer write for ESPN

Paul Hamilton‏Verified account @pham1717 Following More Kim Pegula confirmed that the GM and coach search has begun and they've been very busy with it

I MIGHT go to that Ommegang show; my cousin and I have talked about it. Of course, he has, like, a child or something. I've never been to a show there, but we did a tour of the place a couple years ago and it was very cool. If you eat in the taproom get the chicken and waffles, they're amazing.
-
Did anyone ever figure out what was happening there?
-
This is what I'm getting from all the experts at this point. Also don't forget that agents will ask media members to mention their clients in stuff like this just to get their name out there.
-
Thats why I like him under a POHO or something. Plus then Treliving can get a promotion, which gives him a "reason" to leave Calgary.
-
Treliving POHO, Chakya GM? Sold! Note: this is not happening.

Caught the new episode today on lunch. Solid middle of the season episode: moves the plot forward, more Mike doing Mike Things, and we see Chuck's master plan, as it were. Now how does Jimmy get out of it? 1) Chuck 2)Mike is smrt 3)I've seen some things about how Jimmy can get out of the charges using this law or that, but this isn't a law procedural show or a John Grisham novel: Jimmy is gonna Jimmy this some how. I have a feeling, though, that the end result is him not being able to practice as Jimmy any more.

Ohh, believe me, that is a rabbit hole with which we are well acquainted #VeseyWatch I'm hesitant because I've seen plenty of "insiders" over my far-too-many years on sports forums. Of all of them, and there have been many, the only one who consistently got stuff right ahead of time was a guy named "Coach C" on the Buffalo Range forum; that turned out to be Sal Cappaccio, who now works for WGR. You start getting stuff right and I'll buy in.

Freeze all motor functions.

No offense Toro, but as soon as sources are "a friend of mine who works at a place" I tune out. Primary sources only! If you said you saw something maybe I'd listen, because then I can ask follow up questions. Otherwise a "friend" becomes a "friend of a friend", which becomes urban legend, just like that person your mom's friend knows who accidentally brought home the giant rat from vacation thinking it was a dog.

This is basically exactly what I envision. Someone who knows more than me would have to say if its feasible, but yeah, this is my dream.
-
I mean, most of that was with the Thrashers whose basic plan was "Kovalchuk is all we need, right?"
-
Point 1: Meh, doesn't concern me. He's not going to come back for a year and then leave again or something. Or at least I highly doubt it, why bother coming back if you didn't really want to? Point 2: I agree somewhat; I need a short term deal with him. And if he wants lik 7 mil a year, no thanks. A reasonable, short term deal is what I want to sign up for.

So here's the Kovi situation as I understand it. He's interested in coming back to the NHL. The Devils own his rights, and he is currently on the Voluntary Retirement List. In order for him to come back to play in the NHL he can only re-sign with the Devils, and then be traded to another team. This information is from McKensie from TSN who tweeted about it earlier today. Lets assume that he IS coming back, AND the devils would be willing to trade him for, lets say, a 3rd round pick or the equivalent. Are you interested? The contract would be a BIG question mark to me, but if its reasonable for, like, a 2 year contract I would be very into the idea. He could take the spot we all picture Nylander having in a few years, give AN some more time to develop, sit on Jack or Sam's wing and just score goals. No pressure to be captain or the greatest thing in the NHL. If he could have half the career Jagr has had since coming back from overseas it would be a HUGE boost to this team. Its so hard to predict this stuff w/o knowing who the hell the GM is and what they'll do, but I think its a feasible option for us.

Futa: https://www.nhl.com/kings/news/la-kings-name-mike-futa-assistant-general-manager/c-288705714 Currently AGM of Kings, was VPofHO and Director of Pro-Personel

I do too, but I'm willing to trade off the few times of him being right for the much larger majority of him being wrong.
-
Yeah, it was something Marty Biron brought up on the Instigators the day the firings came down and at the time I was like "yeah, that makes some sense", but just then when I typed it out I realised how ridiculous it sounded, haha.

The other option I've heard tossed around is actually having a "younger" guy as POHO and a Lombardi type as GM. Younger guy provides direction overall, has input into what type of team to build over all, and the GM does it. I think you need just the right type of people in both positions to make that work, though.

If the Sabres adopt the protocol to systematically do the opposite of whatever Bucky and Sully want them to do that would be just fine by me.
