This was my biggest takeaway. A Sabres goalie had an off night, but actually got goal support.

Sabres crushed the Have that period. Hutton lost the puck on that goal, he should have been there to save it

Just got tickets for this game from my boss, so that's pretty sweet. Just have to convince the wife that this would be more fun than picking out flooring for her new home office.

Has Jack found 1 of his long term solutions at wing, Jeff Skinner

I'd argue a couple of playoff goals is something. -
I'm 32 and I have no idea who that is. The Braves are basically a myth to me.

Who Will Have a Better Season - Bills or Sabres?

It would be Billsyer for them to somehow win that game. -
The Bills have been trying this for years.

Agree to disagree then ?I'd rather see some winning. We've got a lot of picks. -
I would get it/love it.

Disagree. Look at what the Canes got for him. Look at what EKane was traded for at the last deadline. Look at what trading any of the big name guys over the last couple years have brought back in a trade. A second round pick and a B+ prospect isn't worth taking a shot at the playoffs to me. Don't tell me that the price goes up at the deadline, its just not true any more. -
Oh god, there's so much of this movie that I've forgotten...

Was this win a sign of good things to come?

Whens the last time this team was TWO games above 500? -
I haven't watched it in quite a while, I don't really remember it being cheesy, but it was definitely as much a comedy as it was anything else.

This reminded me that I need to watch The Mummy with Brendan Fraser again.

The line over the last few years has been to be in playoff position come (American) Thanksgiving. That'll be tough, but doable. There are 13 games between now and then, and they play Montreal twice, Ottawa twice, the Canucks, and the Rangers in there. Not that those are all easy wins, or that I expect them to win them all, but its not a particularly tough stretch of the schedule. If you can come out of those 6 games with something like 8-10 points you should be feeling pretty good. -

I voted to resign him, but its really to early to tell. If we're back-to-middle of the pack you trade him, but if its trade deadline month and you're pushing for playoff spot you've got to keep him even if it means losing him for nothing at the end of the year. I do actually think this is a real thing. Skinner is finally getting to play with someone on his own level, he might not be willing to abandon that just for more money. He also might. -
Seasons come and pass, leaving memories of points lost that become legend. Legends fade to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the season comes to an end.

Little thing on VO and Pilut from Joe Yerdon of the Athletic if you've got a sub: https://theathletic.com/597825/2018/10/18/former-swedish-rivals-victor-olofsson-and-lawrence-pilut-exchange-raves-as-rochester-teammates/ Nothing earth shaking, a little bit about them being rivals before and playing on the same team now, and about how they're both willing to work for the NHL.

While I'm here, nice article on Kelly Babstock from The Athletic: https://theathletic.com/596472/2018/10/18/as-the-nwhls-only-native-player-beauts-newcomer-kelly-babstock-is-on-a-mission-to-bring-more-with-her/

Well those teams already all have players right? So they must have enough. That said, contraction wouldn't surprise me when they combine the leagues.

I doubt that Phouse will be fired before the end of this season, but it wouldn't shock me if he's gone at the end of it. Botts strikes me as the type of GM who has expectations and needs them to be met. Last year was bad, but he knew that going in. Maybe a little worse then he expected, but still, the talent wasn't there. He did a BIG makeover to the talent of this team in the offseason, and if he looks at his roster and says "with these players I expect them to get 85-95 points" and they come in at 75 or something he'll turn his gaze to the coach. The question is what his true expectations for this year are.
