Alot of good stuff in here so far, this is my favorite advice so far. Couple more things from a new homeowner: Use a realtor that knows the area you want to buy in well. We bought a house in the city, and the woman we used had lived in that area for years and years, and therefore knew what to look for in the type of house we were looking at, especially pitfalls and problems (even more important for us since we bought an older home). Once you have an offer accepted, THAT'S when the work begins. Getting all the paperwork in can be a nightmare depending on the mortgage person who's putting it all through for you. Every time we thought we were done they asked for more. Be prepared to push them both on your own and through the realtor in order to get the thing closed on time. Its not a gauruntee, but if you don't close by the closing date the seller can pull out or you might have to start almost all over again with the process. BUT, its all very worth it. The day you close bring a couple beers and some camp chairs with you, take them to the new place, and sit down and enjoy your house for a little while. Its a great feeling.

Don't worry, guys, this team is tanking with or without Mr. Murray's wish or consent at the moment. -
Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds in February, then Reverend Peyton in March. Coupla stompin' blues bands to end out the winter.

New Bar/Restaurant will be called "(716)" [including parentheses, but not quotes]. Seating for 360, and TV's embedded in the mirrors in the Bathroom, not to mention the 35'er in the bar area.

This. A year to get into the job, a year as a lame duck, 4 years to actually govern, and no running for reelection when they should be running a ###### country.

Cool.

They used to do that and it was great. Brian Moorman was in the obstacle course competition and didn't look out of place w/ all the WRs and RBs.

\ If theres a DVD with it I'd watch it, helped me alot.

Ex-Lions HC and Titans DC Jim Schwartz hired for Bills job. Don't get much more high profile than that.

Thanks again all, we're looking good over here now. Til that guy finishes up, I'm trying a new one to me tonight. Left Hand Brewing's Polestar Pilsner. Went to VBM expecting to get a pale ale of some sort, but the a 'real' pilsner intrigued me. Its definetly better than your standard Blue's and whatnot, a little more spice and flavor, nice and crisp mouthfeel. I was a little worried my years of Red Dog and other such nonsense had ruined real lagers for me, because the first sniff made me flashback to cleaning up beer swill the morning after parties, but this guy is growing on me.

"Increasingly Substantiated BS" rumor thread- 2014 Edition

I've got this weird inkling we're going to trade with the Islanders again. -
Good to know, next time.

hmm, just threw it in. I didn't see anything about reconstituting it, is that normal?
-
Woo! Good news! haha Thanks all.

Shouldn't that be what we want anyways?

Fights will end when someone dies from it on the ice, and not before. I give it another couple decades.

Yeah, sorry, it was a Danstar Nottingham Ale yeast, and a dry one. So I opened her up and I don't see much going on. It smells like beer, but I see very little foam. Thats it (sorry about the picture from my flip phone/potato), but after I gave a good shake, there was less of that foam before that. I'm going to give it the weekend and try to get my hand on that spec grav tester, but if I don't see anything much going on I might have to get some more yeast to kickstart it. Thanks for all the help guys! WHEN I get this stuff done I owe you all one of them.

maybe i have the wrong one, but it was a dry yeast. EDIT: I a word.

No spray bottle, but starsan did come in the pack. When I move the stuff into the second bucket and have to make some more up I'll steal that idea though. As for the yeast, I think "Wyeast 1272 American Ale Yeast II" is what I have (found that on the website and it sounded familiar).

Mine is an Irish Red Ale, which (if I don't screw it up) will be ready just in time for St. Patricks day. Oh god, yes, haha.

You can get the 'Mr. Beer' guys which take up almost no room and are a decent starter. The quality I got from that was kinda crappy, but to be honest I didn't do a great job keeping up with it, and my storage left alot to be desired, so I don't have a great view on how good they are. The guy I have now is basically a 5-gallon bucket, which also doesn't take up much space. I got this kit for christmas: http://www.northernb...tarter-kit.html I get the feeling that this is one of those things where you just keep buying more stuff for it til it takes over the house, though, haha.

Thanks guys. I'll open 'er up and take a look when I get home. I did the shake thing before I sealed it up, but I'll give that a shot, too. I don't have the specific gravity thing (my next purchase, methinks) but my father-in-law does. I'll borrow that, and a homebrew or two, from him, haha.

Home brewers, a question: My brew, she's not a-bubblin'. The first few days after brew-day I had my 5-gallon pail in a heated room in the attic, but I was afraid that it was to cold, so I moved it into the guest room and i've been making sure the heat is fairly consistantly around 65-70 ( I have a little space heater in there for extra cold nights). Its been about a week and a half and I'm not getting any consistant bubbling and I'm worried. Should I open her up and check? I'm worried about contamination from opening it, but I'm also worried I'm just letting this beautiful beer go to waste, and I'm hoping its just a bad seal or something. Any thoughts?

Got a start-up brewing kit for christmas from the wife; color me pumped. Should have about 5 gallons of Irish red just in time for St. Patty's Day.
