  1. Great job staying home by Ullmark.
  2. I'd love if they just made it a full period of 3-3, but I think it really gasses the players.
  3. Yup, I'm fine with all that.
  4. I also want Marty so we can stop having enforcers as color guys.
  5. He's funny, smart, and loves the area, its a slamdunk. If you haven't listened to him in a while find one of his interview on WGR with the morning show guys from the last couple months, he's not as rambly (definitely not a word) as he was when he was a player. Back then I really just thought of him as funny (for the reasons you find him to be annoying, which is understandable), but he's actually pretty insightful. I think some of the time he's spent at TSN has helped him. EDIT: Here's a fairly recent one: http://media.wgr550.com/a/110755160/1105-marty-biron-talks-sabres.htm?q=biron
  6.
  7. Glenn Rhee will be fine
  8. I guess I don't notice that much because I don't have ESPN or any sports channels, so I don't watch the coverage almost at all (not that ESPN covers the NHL anyways...but that's a complaint for another day/thread). I'll read articles and stuff, but that's about it. I haven't really noticed any fantasy infringing on hockey at all, anyways. Fantasy Hockey is a pretty fringe thing at this point, unlike football.
  9. Then, go ahead...? I like stats, its interesting to me, and inform my opinions. I like fantasy, it makes me interested in games that I otherwise wouldn't even pay attention to. I don't see how it has to, or even can, ruin the experience for you.
  10. Yeah, stats are for when you're deciding if Drew Stafford deserves an extension, or if the power play needs to be revamped. Its not like the stats guys are sitting watching a game like They have their place during the game, too. I think hockey's advanced stats are the easiest to under stand, and a lot of the time confirm what it is you're seeing with your eyes. Possession is just who has the puck more. Corsi and Fenwick are both what I always thought shots should be, how many times you actually SHOOT THE PUCK. Players should never really worry about stats, but coaches and GMs absolutely should.
  11. This thoroughly sums up my opinion on the matter.
  12. Finally saw The Martian this weekend, hilarious and great. Captures the book pretty well, though with much less swearing. I liked it too. The style reminds me of Louie, but its less dark and harsh. Similar dramedy sort of tone to it, though. Aziz is hilarious.
  13. Sorry for the following brain dump, but I can't seem to put it into words that make sense together. I don't have the energy for this anymore. I don't have the brain space. I see the reports on twitter and I don't even stop scrolling. I just can't. What can we do against such reckless hate? How can we heal wounds that have existed since the beginning of recorded time? We can't win this war by killing people. That has never worked. Sides don't win wars by killing everyone on the other side. But there is noone to negotiate with. No one to talk reason to. I consider, and always have, a person who could empathize with others, who could put myself in their shoes, and understand them. I don't understand this. I don't. What do they want? The 3 or so years after 9/11 were the maddest I've ever been in my life. I was so mad that people could come into my country, into my home, and kill my people. I wanted them dead, I didn't care how many or which ones. I wanted them all dead. Nuke the place. Turn it into a goddamned parking lot. I was so mad, I cheered the "Shock and Awe" when we attacked Iraq. I remember watching it with my mom, and she warned me about it. My mother is a staunch Republican, but she'd lived through Vietnam, she knew. She knew how useless it was. She tried to explain, but I was too busy flashing back to watching CNN in the lunchroom that day. The vanity of youth, I guess, thinking that I knew better, that we could FIX this. I didn't know . I know this now: Hate only breeds hate. Fear breeds more fear. I came into this thread thinking it would be a place for people to talk this out, a place to grieve. It was, for a page. When I flipped to the end I found more hate and more fear. Same old song. I'm going back in my hole, I can't deal with it.
  14. Sorry to hear about all that bio. My gramma just turned 90, and is relatively good health, but obviously it can go fast. You just reminded me to give her a call and get dinner with her soon. Condolences to you and yours. Feel better, Jo! Don't feel too guilty, if people are offering to help its because you've been a good friend to them in the past.
  15. Oh no.
  16. As it is written, so shall it be done.
  17. I even saw that in a preseason game I went to. ROR, Kaner, Ennis specifically all talking before every draw. I like it. Since I haven't said it in this thread yet, Jesus Christ Eichel. And I think we're good. I saw Jackyl earlier in the thread, I might switch my allegiance from Jacker to that.
  18. Haha, immediately thought of that."Andy Dufresne - who crawled through a river of and came out clean on the other side."
  19. I want someone to make me a quilt of all of these comments so I can cuddle under it when I get nervous about a Sabre.
  20. He doesn't take shifts off, but he looks his age. Behind the play, unable to keep up with the young players. I'd be fine with Gionta if Bylsma would put him on the third line, he shouldn't touch the first or second lines, and I don't want him on the PP or in overtime.
  21. They should be lighting houses external to the building on fire. If they can get out there somehow, light one up, it'll attract a BUNCH away from the fence. You're trying to kill time until the cavalry returns, get as much pressure off the walls as possible. On a side note, my wife suggested throwing dead bodies over the wall to distract them. She's a little more morbid than I am.
  22. I assumed, and it should be. I'll stick to summaries.
  23. Is posting parts of ESPN Insider considered a no-no here? I have it so I can post the relevant parts. I'll just post the quotes, since those are public knowledge, Titles are my own, but paraphrased from the text: On the balance between the big expansion fees (~$500 million per franchise) and the league revenues being divided among more teams: “Our owners are thinking much more long term in terms of asset value of their franchises,” Daly said, “That means you have a stable league and stable business.” On franchise success in the south: “Atlanta didn’t work out as well as we would have hoped. I think that was a function of a variety of factors that came into play,” Bettman said. “We’re not going back there any time soon but do I believe that Atlanta with a building and a different location and local ownership could support an NHL team? The answer is yes. It’s not on the table, it’s not anything we’re considering or being asked to consider.” On the move of Atlanta: “There was no prospects of [Atlanta] being successful from a business standpoint,” Daly said. “Nobody local wanted to own it.” On the move to Winnipeg: “It’s turned out beyond our wildest dreams how successful it is,” Daly said.
  24. Looked like it was bleeding. To me that means its weak there.
  25. Guys...this team might be good.
