  1. There was a story about a kid who played for the Sharks a few years ago who took anticoagulants and would not take them on gameday. He was precautionary though, not after a moderate event. The coach and his family were scared for him and not too thrilled. I've seen people on this just bump a doorway, or take a slight tumble, and you are right....purple all over. Again though, amazed these $300 million franchises don't put in another $50K into the budget to check these guys head to toe. There is a horse outfit that would do echos on an auction horse as part of their workup before they would even think of bidding....let alone their own.
  2. No way to play on those I would think....hopefully they figure it out and get him healthy. This answers some of my questions about the possibility of the medical staff monitoring Tyler Myers. Letang had the hole in his heart since birth which should seal on it's own. Sounds like there isn't routine cardiac imaging done. Sure, they monitor pulse and O2, but my concern with Myers has always been the structure. I'd guess Letang is done for the year. Weeks of thinners, then they have to deal with the hole and heal up.
  3. Put this in the other thread before reading this. Agree 100%
  4. It would probably be a multiple piece deal. Maybe Moulson, Tallinder, 2nd for Lazar and another prospect...Buff could eat salary to help out Melnyk. Another awesome thing was Murray saying (paraphrase), "I need to talk to these guys here (scouts) and figure out who was responsible for being in the last guy's (Darcy's) ear and telling them to do the stuff that got us in this mess."..... I'd look for wholesale changes in the scouting department this summer....
  5. "Speed and skill are fine, but I want a player that has Hockey Sense..... gives effort, is intelligent, and his intelligence makes up for what he may be lacking." Or something to that effect. He loves Girgensons. Bring me in Lazar, Timmy.....bring me in Lazar......
  6. You can take the girl out of FSU, but not the FSU out of the girl. A) All broads are crazy. It's your job to find the broad whose crazy most matches yours and who is in tune with her own craziness...which a good one will admit they have no clue B) If you are a good hearted dude, it's going to sting. Like PA said, it's playoff experience. Chalk it up to being more prepared and better for yourself next time around. Don't get too cynical, but read point A again and realize that comes with insecurity and the need to feel appreciated. I like to employ a "distanced appreciation" until I know it's the real goods. I'm cynical to a fault, but a romantic at heart. That's why I will marry a stripper. C) You have a good year of jack material built up. Find an adult film star who is somewhat similar in looks, and take it out on Little LIGR. D) For as much as you may or may not get harassed here sometimes, I have no doubt you are a good dude. Enjoy being young. If you get broken up with on a phone call or through data exchange, that's not captain material. A true woman breaks up with you to your face so you can ram her one more time for old time's sake. That's the rule.
  7. Like I said....you write too well to be Schopp........ :)
  8. This girl is old school, aristocrat class, with a western spin. I'm a fan in general...she does have a good hold on hockey. Having said that...my favorite line may be, "I'll get my feet wet in every single position".......
  9. They weren't all softies, that's for sure. I was intrigued because I have always said the way to beat Miller is not from 15 feet, but from further out with non-anticipated shots. That was always the driving force behind my eyes googly woogly. Miller is great at being positionaly sound, but if the puck is going lateral from far out, he lets in a higher % of goals than average. I linked an OLD article, but I always believed that's how you get some rubber past him. Vancouver does it when they play the Sabres, and I've seen a few other teams employ it, but last night it was obvious. Interested in why it was so. Just way too many zany quick fires to make me think it was coincidence.
  10. Ottawa -220 Buffalo +180 300 on Buffalo....
  11. Did you notice how the Pens one-timed and quick fired about 10 shots on Miller? I think Quick gets the nod in the Olympics. The gameplan against Miller worked tonight.
  12. I know we have both loved Callahan over the years. If he is willing to come, I overpay him $2 million a year if that's what needs to be done. If you get assets for Miller, Moulson, Ott....that's probably going to include 2 decent to nice young forwards and a few picks. I would hitch my wagon to Callahan all day. I'd like to keep Ott, but if Gaustad fetched a 1st at the deadline, he's going to get you a 1st and a ready prospect. Callahan in the fold would make that an easy decision.
  13. This is the age old Israeli war between the Jesuits and Presbyterians.....
  14. I'm just not seeing it with Foligno. If there is one guy I WANT to love, it would be him. Between the flair and drive he showed his first 2 weeks on the team, and his dad being about as complete a player as you could ask for....I want to love him. I don't understand his reluctance to play free. I think 100-150 career goals is the max at this point. He is one of the guys I would expect to get traded if you want a guy with real upside. My guess is that Murray has him at a 4+ #conforming
  15. If you eat the back/bottom portion when warm, it is like the best combo of corned beef/pastrami you can have. I like to let the top/front portion cool and then have it with some Weber's mustard. It's a tad iron tasting, but nothing like liver or other organs. It's fairly cheap too...$3-5 a lb. if you cook it yourself.
  16. Okie Dokie...... how does he get that "breaking news"? We had this discussion in another thread about Twitter. There are many a feature built in to tell a true tale. When you follow Linda Lovelace before your wife.....I thinks I knows where some of that synthetic fossil fuel profit is going.....
  17. Note to board: You are the proud emotional owners of the worst team in professional hockey with no immediate hope in sight that was led by Ron Rolston for a total of 50 games, while the culture and work ethic was stamped in place the previous 16 years by a tandem of 2 men. Please continue.....
  18. When Miller was younger, I always thought he could go the way of Ricky Williams. Not the pot thing...just, he's a different cat and I could see him retiring early to enjoy the pleasures of life. If Miller had a baby, I can see him losing his mojo and going all-in outside of work. I wish them well. I would pay for the video of the Otts procreating however......
  19. It's a whole lot of stuff....all armchair psychiatry, but the biggest thing would be that they are happily living 3,000 miles apart....his job has him on the road the next 7 years....her job has her "needing" to stay slim...she loves her work life it seems....they are both goofy in the head, although that makes for some positive things....I'd guess there is some non-traditional sexuality going on...and the reasons behind it may drive one not to want kids....lots of stuff. Maybe they do, but it is close to a decade down the road, my guess. He may come out looking like Ratso Rizzo from the Muppets, but I will cheers them.... Ha....
  20. Which is why it is a joke....it's the ol' "How much do you want to pay a month?" when you walk into the dealership. Simple probabilities are the rule of nature. The Corsi/possession/yadayada crowd just want to feel important. Some of the same people spouting those things also approve of building a culture of crap and losing for a 6% chance at the #1 pick the next 2 years. So much of life is subjective, and very few can quantify those aspects. It's really that simple though. Tim Murray talks of rating a guy 5+ or 4- .....what is that? It's him looking with his eyes at something and putting a value on it. Not feeding some BS through a spreadsheet.
  21. The US is 6/1 to win the gold.....Miller is 50/50 at best to be starting the important games....therefore there is a 7% chance Miller will be returning an Olympic hero. #AdvancedStats I do agree however they should dump him before the Olympics.
