What would you say the United States unfunded liabilities total is?

This is a fun thread to read if you have some time.... I wonder what people would say today??? http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/21084-tyler-myers-vs-erik-karlsson/

I think any financial collapse would be masked with actual war. That's why I don't like what is going on. They all know it. China almost pulled the plug on us back in '08. I don't think Americans would ever really get to an anarchy situation to the point citizens are firing on their government and each other on a regular basis. If it happened in '08....yes, because the normalcy bias would have sent people into utter shock. I think the world leaders have been playing "just the tip" with everyone the past few years so we get used to tight living and monitoring and gadget distraction, and there can be a controlled crumble...which I appreciate. But there are always those who will try to take advantage of that situation.

???? You said that after I brought up the clinics....and that was only to counter "guns have no purpose but to kill people". The only reason I brought up guns in the first place was after the Secretary of State of the United States responded that local government forcing Jews to register as Jews and pay an extra tax was atrocious. What are the odds you could have gotten on that a year ago? The fog of war is thick over there and nobody has firm control. Those two issues alone are enough for any normal person to want to be able to have protection for themselves, and as a community when "those looking out for us" fail miserably, or at worst turn against. How many Ukrainian politicians and police have bolted to the Russians so far? I'm much more worried about Russia for the financial consequences.....which, could cause a scenario where you will hope you have a gun.

2014 Buffalo Sabres First Selection Discussion
Ghost of Dwight Drane replied to IKnowPhysics's topic in The Aud Club
I think that may have been an inside joke. Before you joined the board, about a year and a half ago Ted was on GR and one of the guys joked, "I should give out your Twitter handle"....to which Ted responded, "I just had Wawrow follow me." So I jumped right to Wawrow's account and sure enough, he had Ted down 6 or 7 followers. At the time Ted had less than 20 followers. I sat on that for a couple of months and noticed a couple of players he was following that didn't make sense. It was all Sabres or business or Pitt people or Buffalo, etc. Except 3 players. So I mentioned that I figured the Sabres were targeting them in a trade, and 1 was in the draft. It made no sense otherwise, because these weren't gifted Tweeters of any sort. When I finally disclosed how I came to the conclusion because Ted went on one of his digging in a trench for Darcy and scoffing at the ignorant fans bits and I figured all is fair in love and war, I said..."It's not like he's following Paul Bissonette here." He ended up cleaning up his list after reading or catching wind of this, and of course, added Bissonette. I don't know if he stopped following him, or more than likely, just unfollowed him and refollowed him tonight to move him to the top of the list as a running joke. I really like Black. I think he's just the right type of crazy enough to do really good things. That's why it sucked having him in Alamo Mode. Between his Turdburger and Murray's Pee-pee slap.....we're going straight old white guy gangsta! -
I just overdid it. a 17lb turkey probably put out 11-12lbs of meat that I killed in less than a week. Never had a full blown disaster, but shrimp/clams can get me ginger. It took me a few days to figure out what happened with the turkey. No clue that could trigger it. NBsmokehouse is great if you can't do your own or for gifts. Just a solid A-/B+ for most of their stuff at halfway decent prices.

Well at least if we go that route, we won't need the clinic.....

Good deal. Ted took my advice and in the last few hours followed Ekblad and Nail Yakupov. Nice work....so now to an outsider who hasn't been at the poker table it looks like they can be talking to Florida about #1, or trading the #2 to Edmonton in a package. In reality, we know Ted's dead for info....but he probably reads this board close to daily. For some reason I see Ted reading my posts in the voice of Gary Oldman...... -
Did you see the Buffalo game and tonight though? There is no reason to ice those pucks. If a rookie does that you bench him.
-
I ordered a smoked turkey from New Braunfells smokehouse a few years ago on an after Christmas discount, and it was awesome. The only problem was, I ate it all week and gave myself a mild case of gout.
-
I don't watch him enough, but the last 2 games I saw, he made a selfish icing with 1 minute left and an empty net. Not even a realistic chance to hit the net, and not enough pressure to warrant a panic dump. Everyone praises him, but that doesn't seem like a smart player.

It was in direct response to d4rk saying "Guns should be outlawed because their only purpose is to kill." I made a factual rebuttal.

2014 Buffalo Sabres First Selection Discussion

I have a long history of making fun of Darcy and admiring how guys like Burke take big chances. I was making a joke that I am going to take the informationon on the Sabres to Brian Burke in Calgary so if he likes the same guy in the 2nd round on, he can make a trade to move in front of Buffalo. I then can repeat the process for the other teams picking near him. I am joking, but making a serious point at how a DB could profit off the sieve that is social media. The supposed reporters and columnists are so busy playing paddy cake on there, that they could actually try to earn their paycheck and do some legwork to find stuff out. -

I can give them out later. It doesn't mean they will draft any of them, but I think the lower they are, the better chance they take them late. I already called Uncle Burkie in Calgary and told him what I had. I am working on Florida, Edmonton, Boston, Pitt, Anaheim, Chicago, St Louis, and the Rangers. This way he has a good idea who may go the 7 or 8 picks before him if he wants to jump up or needs to decide if there will be a run on defensemen after his next pick...... -

No...at no point was that the top 5 order..... I'm not going to say who the other guys are until during the draft. If Darcy was still GM and Ted Black was still saying how simple and negative the fans are....I'd be chirping like a canary! I just can't believe that they don't have a plan for organizational security. Ted made 1 drunken tweet one night which I responded to and he pulled it 5 minutes later. I'm sure HE is more careful now and maybe a few within direct earshot, but you can't help but expose yourself on there even under an alias. At least some of them use aliases, but you can tell by following/followers. The top 5 are the top 5....everyone has a different taste anyway and if Buffalo stays at 2, it doesn't matter. It's the other names that these guys have out there that can bite them in the butt. -

Mass tragedy fuels legislation.....you are correct. Which is why it is important to convey how easy it is to cause mass tragedy absent guns so those who try to pass legislation and would be the primary beneficiaries of gun control in a less than strong and stable domestic environment, aren't able to have an even deeper death grip on the regular citizens of this country. The guns on the east side of Rochester are already illegal. How about abortion?
-
I've never shot a deer....but I've killed one with a Chevy. Guns aren't efficient. Mother Nature is efficient. There is plenty of stuff out there for the common person to use at their disposal to cause mass tragedy. Guns would be far down the list. The reason guns are usually used is because of the combination of mental illness and low intellect.
-
And guns have a purpose besides killing.....deterring..... The point being, any yahoo that wants to wipe out some people can do it much easier and much more efficient than using a gun. Oh...and if you want to use the only purpose is killing....then abortion clinics should be illegal as well.....
-
And you can drive a UHaul through the School #64 contingent of the Dyngus Day parade for $40 if you would like to.....
-
Yes. Because every soldier has a wife, kids, parents, property, etc. And not every soldier would be game for an oppressive standing against their own people to begin with. You can't mobilize heavy equipment like that quickly unless it's the local regiments. If things are chaotic enough for that to happen minus a horrific natural disaster or foreign attack, then that means there was a failure of local government...who have the same human and material assets. You follow? There will be more people sent to the hospital this week across the country by a-holes who are texting in their cars than the total of all the public arena shootings the past 30 years.

2014 Buffalo Sabres First Selection Discussion
Ghost of Dwight Drane replied to IKnowPhysics's topic in The Aud Club
Correct. The top 5 was just the order that they were followed....which doesn't need to mean that is how they are ranked.....however another half dozen are followed in order of central scouting rankings 18, 22, 34, 52, 77, 91 (not actual rankings!)....which leads me to believe they just went down their draft board looking for schlubs they like on twitter. It also makes sense that you would follow the first guy on your mind first, and so on. The list of other prospects was so scattered that I have to believe they are interested in them and it isn't just for informational purposes as there are probably 50 others ranked in the top 100 that aren't being followed. They also cross leagues, so you can't say it is a territorial ranking. There are other names out there as well, but the guys follow enough guys that you can't know how much interest there really is. The only thing that is a tipoff is if they were followed last year....I would assume they are on the radar. Also, when you see a guy ranked 200 getting followed, you have to think he is a late target if the scout has any say. That's the good thing about the Old Boys Network.....while they may not love analytics and be up to date on the "amazing" technology....they also don't tip the hand of a $200 million business on a regular basis! Although a few of them are out there. Given the Sabres history of lax activity on there from almost the entire top executive staff and/or their families...I am assuming they don't use it as a strategic tool to gather intelligence on other teams. We aren't talking Chloe on 24 types of maneuvers here.....I hate technology and own a flip phone..... -

These guys F'n kill me...... With 85% confidence, their top 5 right now are: Bennett Ekblad Draisaitl Reinhart Dal Colle I have 5 names who it looks like they may target in the late 1st to their 3rd round pick. Makes no sense to be a smokescreen as there are 60 other players in the same ballpark and you don't throw the mig off with 8% misdirection. Help us Jesus..... -
Don't put words in my mouth on this. My point was if you want to trust anybody with a list...what happens when nobody is there to protect you and the holder of the list is no longer on your side? Again...Obama mocked Romney just like some mock the idea that honest citizens have the right to protect themselves. Things change...and fast. Considering pretty much the entire Eastern Ukraine is without confirmed leadership....I think you already lost the bet. John Kerry already responded that the forced registration is reprehensible. So either it is true....or your government has no fricking clue what is going on over there on the ground.....
