off topic OT - Health Care workers

I know we talked about Roswell before...and I'm 99% sure she wasn't my nurse, but I appreciate so much how supportive the staff can be. When I went in for my surgery, I just went into pure fun mode. No need to be gloomy....and the crew working on me went along for the ride. They made the mistake of giving me an epidural so I was awake and could commentate on the whole thing. I can't remember the nurse who was so kind, but I make it a point to treat every nurse as if they were the one to make it such an easy journey.... -
So how does that heat map look for any other goalie?....except maybe Miller?

International rules.....same questions on Olympics....

Chz is the Judy Garland/Barbara Streisand/Bette Midler of the board.......when she's ready....she's taking us all on.....

I think he meant that the Rangers will win the Cup....so all that is left is a trophy to lift....

At the very least, he is running the process of it all. He, Littman and the Wilsons were named as the overseers. I know they are bringing in investment bankers, but between him being given sole control over the team the past few years and his tenure, would it surprise you to find out he is sitting on a tiny hunk of equity? I don't think Jacobs is in the mix either, which is why I think Golisano getting floated around might be to try and spike bids. Does anyone really think a guy who put up a slam dunk $60 million for a team and ran it with the orders to at least break even, has the sportsman in him to put up 25x that amount and supply the cash flow to make a team competitive? I'd be shocked if he was involved as anything more than a minority partner with some group. I don't doubt that all things equal, everyone would like to keep the team in Buffalo....but if it's gotta go....might as well get every last cent out of it...

Quinn met with Russ Brandon 3 weeks ago along with Golisano. I can't see Golisano buying the team. I'm sure he's using this to try and leverage something else. I will really go apesh!t if we find out 5 years from now, some people were brought in just to run up the bid on a group that was intent on moving the team no matter what. Not sure what Brandon's cut is on a sale, or some of the others. To me, the only logical local guy who I would have some faith in is Jacobs.

You make me puffery.....

I just don't feel like writing lawyer-speak every post. There was definitely a majority view that Miller was a near great to elite goalie. Those who pointed out regularly he wasn't, took a lot of crap. Now look at it! Just like with DeLuca and the "negative" talk....there is tons more cover for someone who is supportive of something and almost never any organized rebuttal. The other way around though, many times anything goes. There are always a pocket of "neutral" posters....just like there are plenty of well intended people in the Puerto Rican Day Parade.....that doesn't stop the chaos though.....

Yeah...but it's a little shocking even to me. I remember people saying "Lundqvist set the bar for Miller", and GR having a show dedicated to "I would be ok with a 7 year $50 million contract since they need to reach the cap floor anyway." I think he was purely mismanaged once again. As they played him 7 in a row early on, I said he's gonna go bye bye. I actually feel bad for him. Maybe someone will finally figure out he needs to only play 55 games tops to be in good condition going into the playoffs. Maybe Toronto is that team.

It's been a treat reading the board the last week. In a span of 8 months....Miller went from an elite goalie who should be signed at $7 million a year+ long term and crusades were taken upon posters who felt he was mediocre, to..."1 year contract....backup on a contender....no room for him on 25 of the teams." Now we have Vanek who some have questioned his effort and defense for years, going from a top 20 forward in the league to complimentary piece getting 9 minutes a game. The Vanek talk isn't so bad, but the pure abandonment or Ryan Miller by this board is astonishing.

Good stuff... And nice job 38. I have to second what zeke said. One of my good friends went to West Point and he was a broken person and almost lost his mind while there. He made it, and I haven't talked to him for a few years as he is off the radar doing some Jack Bauer sh!t. Not sure how it works there, but kudos to anyone who wants to serve.

I liked NY because of their roster and the way they played. I think they had the most balanced defense in the league and a bunch of gritty forwards. I figured between Lundqvist and Torts' style....they would grind one out. He still won 3 series the past 2 years for them. He has a short shelf life because of his personality. I still took them to be right there at the beginning of this year. Vancouver just doesn't have the attitude. The goalie situation didn't help.

Torts is part of the reason I made the bet. If you told me 1 year later that he and Callahan weren't there, I wouldn't have done it.
