    Yes...Saskatoon....and by the time they are free agents, they will have seen NYC, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Philly, LA, Miami.....and Buffalo anywhere from 7-28 games.....between October and April..... Added LONG TERM VALUE to the franchise in hockey terms.....$5 million. Added value to Pegulaville in monetary terms.....much more. Hence, PA's objection.

    X.....you have better comprehension than that. The only thing I have derided in this conversation is the fact that you think these kids will become enamored with the city of Buffalo by coming here for 4 days and in 2023 and beyond when the first crop of combine participants becomes eligible for UFA....it would give Buffalo an advantage in signing them. That's it. I said a few months ago when it was discussed...."Cool". It's fine. It is what it is. Please tell me who is going to want to watch a bunch of these guys working out for 3 days save a bunch of Puck Bunnies, Pedos, Autograph hounds, or draft geeks? I was one of 2 dozen people left in the MSG Felt Forum for the 7th round of the NFL Draft. I'm not normal. Heck, for as "Negative" as I am portrayed...I offered everyone here a beer at the Sabres draft party last year. I don't think anyone went. This is niche stuff.....

    Absolutely. We have no real hockey news to talk about, that's why we are discussing a Scouting Combine that might not even come here. I would love to go to the combine myself, but I seriously doubt it's open to the public.

    There isn't any downside. Unless the Sabres do something stupid in logistics and planning. I'm just saying...the kids don't give 2 craps where they are. If anything, the NHL will select Buffalo because it is Podunk and there is less to do so these kids focus on their tests and interviews. There are a lot less chances to get into trouble in a landlocked hotel in a city where the drinking age is 21 than in one of the best nightlife cities in the world where it is 19. It's not a big deal. X directly countered PA, who rightly is still focused on The Buffalo Sabres Hockey team and their stated goal and performance. Once again...we get shown "amazing progress" in anything but the team....just ancillary stuff that maybe loosely can help out. We're still riding that state of the art locker room, workout facility, and nutrition station to the worst NHL record in nearly 30 years.....

    So what is the schedule for the combine participants? How is this any better for Buffalo than landing a weekend Shower Curtain Ring Salesman Convention with 1,000 coming into town? It does sound like cheerleading to me when people equate it with some huge competitive advantage because guys will be burning their agents phone lines up when they hit free agency so they can come to Buffalo. And if it's going to be a corn-filled turd....I hope you got that corn from one of Buffalo's Amazing Food Trucks!

    OK....edumicate me..... what is the typical schedule for an NHL combine participant? What do they do outside of trying to achieve the best possible test scores to enhance their professional value? Did I say it's hell to be in Buffalo? I said the current NHL scouts and staffers won't be jumping for joy having to catch 2 connecting flights each way as opposed to straight into Toronto, where probably 80% have family and friends within 70KM. I'm saying Buffalo getting the combine is "cute". We got the sled hockey tourney as well. Some people collect a few Monet and Picasso, some collect every Guy Harvey 1st print T-Shirt. To each their own.

    Good point. I don't care what they say about Patty behind closed doors, he is universally respected and is so cool in public. I am still convinced he never told Murray that Patrick was going to be here until the day of the press conference. Speaking of Patrick, are he and Ken Sawyer playing Internet Canasta? I am not sure he's set foot in Buffalo since that presser....

    Show off to who? The kids are locked down. The scouts want to see the kids and drink booze. The NHL staff wants to get back to Toronto and New York City. Again....if anyone can find me 1 Indianapolis Colt who said, "I just had such a great time in this city during the combine.....when the offer came in, it felt so right knowing what a football crazed town this is." Getting the combine is cool. So is getting a Joe's Crab Shack.

    A test like that doesn't matter. It's a snapshot in time. You can probably get more info from actual medical scans and tests as to fitness potential. I think it's barbaric myself. I'm much more concerned about balance, fluidity, and frame an physique. Even Bennett not doing a pullup....look at him....can he put on 12-15 lbs of lean mass the next 4 years? Ok...non-issue. If not, then maybe you shy away a little. I will say that there is one issue where I almost wish Pegula would meddle a little with Murray. I love that Murray is honest and old school, but he is almost too honest. As a fan who wants to hear bare bones talk and appreciates it, it's great. But Murray can have a negative effect on his own players. Just in this GR talk alone...."Myers isn't "the next" guy." Yeah....I've known that from day 1 and admire Murray's vision, but these guys are all not mental warriors. I despise the calculated and delayed stammering from the previous GM, but even in giving honest analysis, you should protect your guys' psyches a little. On the UFAs...."We have no interest. Maybe down the road there could be something." I get it. No world beaters for sure....but what happens when you try and sign guys and you don't get them, and a guy like D'Agostini who busted his hump all season and at least has enough talent to skate in the NHL sees this? Ted Nolan would probably love him back and he'd be a good example of how to do things....but he now knows his GM pretty much sees him as worthless. Maybe you take a 2 way on a contender as the season approaches instead of coming back to Buffalo where you know you aren't valued up top. Murray can tone it down just a tad. Maybe he can't. It's actually an admirable quality of honesty to me, but I have suffered from it in my business life. When you are too honest and want to give people the best shot, it can actually offend them. A little Pegula love here can actually come in handy.

    If anyone thinks having a scouting combine here is going to matter when it comes to players....that's crazy. These will be 17 year old kids locked in a hotel for 3 days, and then getting poked and prodded by everyone, asked the same questions about growing up in a 1 parent home and alcoholic father and if that effects their play, biked until they puke......and then, maybe in 8 years when their entry deals and RFA time expires, they are going to look back and say..."That was one hell of a time in a great city!!!"??? I think the reason you see extra scrutiny about some of these things from some posters is because we are led to believe Pegula could take a dump and you could sell it on Ebay for 100K. The combine is a nice excuse to use the facility for a week if they get it. The teams are going to HATE it. 70% of the scouts and administration are just going to fly into Toronto anyway and take a 3 hour ride and bridge wait on a Blue Bus. Either that or have a 13 hour flight from Calgary through Detroit on a puddle jumper. Then instead of having the choice of 30, 4 and 5 star hotels within 3 miles....you have a Marriott, Hampton Inn, and Adam's Mark. The league will save money and the Sabres will make money. That's the only reason to be happy.

Here, have some. How do they do it? They are orange...they are crackers....but they taste like birthday cake. Here..here...have some." Murray: "I'm not really hungry Terry." Pegula: "You have to have some. This is amazing. What will they think of next?" Murray: "That's OK Terry. By the way, we're buying out Lieno tomorrow." Pegula: "You don't know what you're missing.....um....D-day for Villie, huh? He's a nice kid. Maybe he will go to Europe. I wonder if they have these Goldfish over there?" Murray: (walking out of his own office)...."OK Terry....I gotta go bring this....see you later...." Pegula: "Let me go see what Ted's doing. Maybe he brought in the labrodoodle today. I bet he likes Goldfish!"

    It's 1:12 and CBC has been non-stop doing a kickass job with all the families and players. Just a lot of fun. I lost $$ tonight and don't give a crap because the past 6 hours has been as good as it gets.....
