The perfect Buffalo story would be Myers gets traded, fails the physical, then has to retire because of Marfan and we lose Myers without getting anything.

I've been saying to trade Myers since year 1. Why stop now? Here's my theory....if he can get it done, he moves Myers and a 2nd next year for Detroit's 1st this year, an ok prospect, and a vet forward who is overpayed but who can help. Think Franzen. They draft Bennett at #2, then draft Barbashev or Larkin with #15. To replace Myers, they draft Bennett's teammate, McKowen at #31. If he gets the extra 1st this year without losing a 2nd this year, they may gamble on Ville Husso in net with their last 2nd. De Leo and Mistele are my best guesses for the other 2nd and maybe first in the 3rd. I think that's why Murray says he has complicated ideas for an hour. If he moves Myers or Ehrhoff, he probably wants another body on D fairly early. If not, maybe it's all forwards. Having 5 of the top 50 can afford you to gamble on a goalie then and go 3-1-1.....

There's a better chance he goes at 15 than 31.

As long as Ekblad goes #1, it's Bennett. If someone trades up and takes Reinhart #1 then all bets are off and they may try and trade down. Calgary at #4 would be the obvious choice, but there would be a tough decision to make. At that point maybe you go down to 8-12, pick up a potential young top 6 forward, another 2nd to use to move back up, and you take Barbashev. I think we need to petition Sam Bennett to wear #97 so we can pull out those old Bills jerseys and save $150.

Girgensons is not ready to be captain. I love the kid, but he failed to engage anyone after the whistle in a half dozen incidents towards the end of the season. It's one thing to play smart and not take selfish penalties during play, but you also have to let it be known that you aren't going to sit around and watch your teammates take sh!t. He hasn't done that yet at the NHL level. His work ethic is great. He isn't ready.
