There are more talented guys out there....just trying to be realistic in who would be willing to come here for a payday and still give top effort and be a good role model.

I love getting rid of Ehrhoff. Tim Murray said he wants people here who want to be here. Ehrhoff mailed it in the final 30 games of last year faster than a teenager using his snowbird neighbors' address for 10 free Columbia House Cd's....... So...who is out there that could set a good example for a few years in the way they play the game? There aren't world beaters out there, but there are plenty of guys who could keep the room focused and play hard and smart. In no particular order..... Jarome Iginla..... probably has no interest in coming here, but if you want Reinhart to not lose confidence quickly, all the supposed high hockey IQ is going to go to waste when your best options of feeding the puck to are Drew Stafford and Tyler Ennis. He'd be a big money guy to help to the floor. Doubtful. Shawn Thornton.....you could easily offer him 30-50% more than what a contender will and he might actually think about it. If you have a bunch of young guys, you need someone willing to stick up for them. The guy has a Cup and was able to crack minutes on arguably the best team in the league over the past 5 years. Realistic. Matt D'Agostini....he was one of a handful of guys who played his heart out last year for this cluster. He is what he is, but sets a good example on a team with little talent and can play minutes in almost any aspect. Coach respects him. Likely. Cory Sarich.....Always brings effort and is willing to play physical. While not an offensive threat, doesn't skate like he is in quicksand. A guy like Zadorov would appreciate being paired with him as a 2nd pair for a year or two. Reasonable. Willie Mitchell....see Sarich, but with Cups. Might be shot and probably not willing to play for a bottom feeder given his age. Mike Rupp....a crafty vet who would be a huge force in the locker room. A healthy scratch on a contender, he could be a guiding force and a player/coach type. Realistic. Brian Boyle...is still young enough to contribute when the team turns. He is a guy you could overpay for 5 years knowing he would be a good character 3rd/4th liner in the playoffs in his early 30's. Plays the game hard and has shown enough offense over the years that he wouldn't be just a mucker. Possible. Benoit Puliot...still young and has offensive back class. While never coming into his offensive potential, has shown effort and could actually log real minutes on a team like Buffalo. Enough skill and effort that kids could look up to. Possible. Anton Stralman...a perfect target. Still fairly young and versatile on D. He has gotten better each and every year and plays the game like you wish a guy like Tallinder would have. Mobile enough, and for a 6' Swede, he loves contact. He could eat big minutes and would be a great guy to pair with Myers going forward or Ristolainen/Zadorov in a few years. He is probably ready to be a top 4 guy on a top team and could easily be 23-25 minute guy on a bottom feeder. Target. David Moss....a D'Agostini type who is a fringe player on a good team, but has high effort and enough talent to not be foolish. Probable. Steve Ott.....you know There are more talented guys out there, and maybe a Gionta or Moulson will be needed to sign to help get to the floor, but this team could turn into poison quickly if they are as bad as is setting up. It's just going to be hard to get a top guy in here who wants to win and justify the contract you will have to pay them.

I'm having "Darcy Core" flashbacks. The kid's favorite TV show is 90210. I sh!t you not, I would red flag him in the interview process just for that. At least that Cornell kid lists his favorite movies as Caddyshack and Strange Brew. That's a future letter wearer right there.....

The biggest thing I took out of this draft is that we put a value on what a 2nd round pick is worth.....Jack Caca..... If Murray was trying to unload all 3 2nd round picks to 7 teams and they passed....even if those teams were all picking before 15, the 31, 39 and 49 isn't worth a mid 1st rounder. A) I can't believe he admitted it. The marketing staff has been blowing smoke for over a year about how awesome it is that the Sabres have all these picks. They are pretty much irrelevant, like many here have said. Crapshoot city. B) For all the talk of wheeling and dealing at the deadline and now the draft, I'm a bit underwhelmed. Still trust and like Murray, but if he is going to be so honest about stuff...to compare Tyler Myers to WTC 7....."Pull It!!!"

I believe he said "I envisioned myself putting on this jersey" 127 times this weekend. He reminds me of Pominville. None of the guys up top though seemed like they are natural freaks. That's why I loved Curtis Lazar so much last year. I'd hire that kid for any job and he will probably be a success.

The point being, the administrator of the website who posts about once every 4 months comes in and you guys are tagteaming someone for making a simple mistake. Meanwhile, Sabres execs have been on Twitter for years and probably would have kept themselves ripe for the picking because nobody follows/followed them. I like Murray a lot, but yeah....look at the Myers thing, he comes out a few weeks ago saying he's not the guy. Now we have him as one of the hot trade rumors. It's OK if he actually does get moved soon....but when you pretty much admit he is fragile to the public, then give him reason to question his standing...he's gotta go.....

I will make a suggestion...things go to archive pretty fast. There have been many a time I know there was a discussion, but the search filter won't bring it up because it is in archive, so I just make the point in a thread that isn't as specific. You can go to google with the query, but not here. That being said, if Tyler Myers ever actually does get diagnosed with Marfan, you will hit the jackpot as this site has the first page of results.....

I'll be honest, if it turns into a regimented ideal, the team is going to be crappy enough for the next few years that it isn't worth it. I probably like the Bills 3x as much as the Sabres, and I haven't posted on that board in years and only look at it once every few months after I got a virus as a lurker. It's more like a junior high locker room. This is more like a mediocre golf course where you have members but reasonable greens fees open to the public. You may not get the best tee-time as a new fella, but if you show your face a few times, it's all good.

Not at all....I think Murray knows Myers is one of the only assets the Sabres have, and an overpaid one at that. If he looks at him as a minor headcase, then he is probably gone no matter what, sooner than later....

If that happens...we all need to meet up with Weave for bourbon night......
