  1. Injuries are part of the player. Their size, toughness, etc. You have to take that into account when taking guys. Considering Whaley has no clue on the O-Line and we will be starting Matt Cassel at QB, the trade is a burnout right now. You could have had Torry Smith or Andre Johnson for free this year. You could have used your 1st this year to get a vet QB on the market...Bradford,Cutler, Foles. You could have used the 4th last year on John Urschel at guard. #OneBuffalo!!! You then could have used the #9 last year to trade down or take Zach Martin, Beckham, or Donald....all taken within 5 picks and in the Pro Bowl. It's not fair to compare to Beckham, so.....Watkins......or Sam Bradford, Zack Martin, John Urschel, and Torry Smith? This is realistic, and before anyone wants to flame me, feel free to check out my rankings of players in the 2014 draft thread, who I thought we could take, and my begging to trade down. And makes 6x the amount of money he did as a scout.........
  2. No problem. I'm glad it was the first pick so there was money to wager.
  3. Something went wrong. Hopefully just flipped his soft palat. Firing Line in Preakness for me if he goes.
  4. You can tell me in September.....
  5. They all got smoked. It stinks to list 6 horses and not have the winner. I never go 6 deep. At least the $1 supers today stopped me from doing that key. The exotics are almost pairing up Dortmund with American Pharoah. The track is a hard read....seems like speed but some closing action. If the 7-11 box hits....i'm going to 7-11 and gettin me a Swisher Sweet and a 40..........
  6.
  7. The Bills just got a player. I only looked at TE's this year and I had O'Leary as a safe pick in the 3rd round. Never figured he'd last. I liked the TE from Delaware in this range but this is a steal. He's perfect for the supposed new offense, and while not outright fast, is smooth and catch a ball and seems to be a heady player. I looked at the tape of Darby and he is ok. Looks to be a better zone player. Can close quick, but if he gets caught in a play action it is hard to recover. Has a nice build considering his speed. He'd be a 3rd rounder to me. No clue on the Louisville guard. Sounds like same old....big mauler that can't move. The O-Line worries me.
  8.
  9. No....I don't know what McKenzie likes to eat or drink.....but I'm guessing Ted Black is sending an intern up the QEW with a trunk load of Original Pizza Logs on the 3rd Tuesday of every other month. It was so much easier for Larry to cart out the booze from the 200 level bar cage......
  10. On point 1.....if Babcock's wife really has a say.....do you think she will be all, "You have to get me out of this sh!thole Mike. I can't take Detroit any longer. How about Buffalo?!!!!" On mcKenzie, yes. I mentioned in the Myers thread at the time that Myers would not be on the team much longer after McKenzie wrote an article about O'Riely. It wasn't actually about O'Riely but a cover to pump Myers and let the league know he was going to be traded. I made a bet with freeman over it. Same thing on Babcock. McKenzie saying that the Sabres are interested and going to make a push....but yadayada..... No need to say that so early in the game. It leads to to believe it was more Transparent Poker from Black/Pegula. Either they know that can't land him, or that someone else is their goal. Just putting it out there for the very reason you are seeing...get the fans all giddy that they want him. It was also a hedge if Detroit went on in the playoffs and his extension was a given. That's the only hope for those who want him in Buffalo. Mckenzie is to Black what Wawrow was to Quinn.
  11. There was the exact same "debate" a year ago. A valid 3 year plan to increase revenues can mean anything. You don't have to increase ticket prices. "Dear Mr. Bettman......given that the Buffalo Sabres have had 2 consecutive seasons that rank near the most pitiful results in the history of the NHL, we feel that it would be imprudent at this time to raise ticket prices on our product given the loyalty and patience of our fanbase. By not raising prices this year, we feel we will retain a higher level and happier fanbase going forward, and given our recent outreach into the trade market and drafting a probable franchise level player, we expect our product on the ice to improve leaps and bounds in the near future, and the excitement and appreciation from our fanbase should spring revenues going forward. Thank you as always........Terry"
  12. I may or may not already be drinking...... I'm excited too because a handicapping contest has 6 of 10 turf races. My biggest piece of advice is that for the next 2 months or so, 4 year olds on the turf can improve leaps and bounds. I don't know why, but this is the sweet spot. That's the single most successful angle I have over the years.
  13. I think Bylsma is a good combo of system/feel. He's also young enough to relate to what is a very young roster. He should also be a bit humble from not having a job for a year. Not saying it will be him, but that's who I like. McKenzie was out early talking about Babcock and the Sabres. That tells me the Sabres either have someone else in mind, or expect not to land him. The same reason I was willing to bet Tyler Myers was going to be traded, I say Babcock won't be in Buffalo.
  14. 6th race turf....#11 Divisidero......live longshot. Tons of speed in race to close into, under the radar connections, perfect pedigree and distance. 8th race turf....#1 Personal Diary.....2nd off layoff at 4yo from a yielding track and cutting back in distance. Trainer solid and breeding says fast mile over soggy route if the horse is willing. 8-1.....play with the favorites 5-4-11-8 and throw in the 13. Wide open race and I don't love it, but think may drift up to 12-1 or so and get lost. 10th turf..........playing a 7-11 box. Mid level value....maybe $50 on $2
  15. Why would I get banned? #4 Super C Me led the whole way. It reminded me of 2007 when Lindy Ruff gave the C to 9 different players.........elite!

  17. No problem. I'm the Penn State guy.....PA's the revenue guy......
  18. Oh Really? Then I guess you served in Iraq? If you can't even have the courtesy to identify who says what over time before insulting them, then I guess i may be wasting my time in paying attention to who says what myself..... I already said....Bylsma
  19. If you can find me bringing it up more than once, I'll buy you a rainbow unicorn lollypop 6-pack.......
  20. I'm just saying what Pegula said himself.......
  21. I guess that was because lifelong fan, Terry Pegula, who used to hang out at truck stops and bridge underpasses to hear calls of the Sabres 1st round playoff games.........DIDN'T KNOW THE TEAM WAS FOR SALE!!!!!!
  22. Patty, Mogilny and Hawerchuk all have horses named after them.....
  23. Hey....remember the days when Golisano was a savior, and when a few people would question his motives, or outright say he was in it to make money....they would be attacked with personal insults and accused of trolling? I sure do......
  24. Betting the 3 to win and a 3-10 box in the 9th here in 40 minutes. Don't love it, but both horses have upside for the odds.
  25. No...I actually agree with Beyer. Look at last year's thread and the last post. Got Upstart at 53-1 and an exacta with Carpe Diem at $1200 for every $2. I can let you know some picks tonight. Edit: Sorry.....it was in this thread..... http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/22826-calling-goddits-that-time-o-the-year/?hl=calling+godd
