The Next Coach of the Buffalo Sabres
Ghost of Dwight Drane replied to IKnowPhysics's topic in The Aud Club
He manages players who know how to play a heavy game, and appreciates them more than a guy like Babcock. Babcock, Lindy, Hitchcock.....all good coaches in the regard they are structured and regimented. They will get you to the first round more times than not, but unless blessed by the best of talent, will not win you the big one. Blysma is a true man. He can see people for who they are, and is both talented enough as a coach and as a manager to give you a chance on a team with real men and strong personalities. One of the reasons I like Tortorella so much is that he is the perfect combo to me, but not enough people understand where he is coming from. Blysma is more relaxed and mainstream....and in today's world, that probably comes in handy. Blysma is a lot of Teddy Nolan but with more attention to the micro stuff. Reality is, the Sabres are a 75-85 point team next year unless something changes in a big way. Your best players are Kane, Bogosian, Girgensons, Ennis, and Eichel. Babcock would wear out his welcome in a much quicker fashion in an environment where young veterans run the team. Just ask.....why is he leaving Detroit? Domi and Larkin are waiting for him. Add that to a current playoff team and I don't see how Buffalo is a better option. I truly don't think he is coming to Buffalo. I just want to enjoy the game again and not watch the Wells Fargo Wagon roll through town every year with the fans buying the same instruments. -
At an AC/DC concert.....good At a Striesand concert....bad

Those towels didn't go to waste. They are currently being used in the Eichel and Babcock discussions......

Babcock is from the Lindy Ruff coaching philosophy. That's great if you have tons of disciplined, highly talented players, and enough role guys with talent. The Sabres do not. Tim Murray has gone all-in on team where the high end guys "play a heavy game". They suck so bad right now that you need to see progress that is built off the personality of their leaders. Kane, Bogosian, Eichel.....they aren't Lidstron, Zetterberg, Datsyuk. I mean that in a good way. A good GM will select a coach who will bring out synergy in his team. If the Sabres hire Blysma, I truly believe there is a realistic shot at the Cup in 5 years. If it is Babacock, no dice compadre. -

I really don't see how trading for guys like Kane and Bogosian jives with a coach like Babcock coming in here. When you add Eichel to the mix.....this team screams for a guy like Bylsma. Babacock is a better version of Ruff. -

So you've never heard of "The Baked Alaska"? I guess to make it authentic, he needs to take a bite of her salmon at dinner. Edit: See the PA, "Wiser with age" comment.....

It's a cute idea.....but if Schopp didn't have to pay the $50 to take the MENSA Test and could just send in his SAT scores.....he might have come up with...... 30 cities, 4 sports, football, baseball, hockey, basketball..........tear up all the contracts and draft from any player pool. What's your strategy? Do you go best player available? Do you go basketball first 5 rounds and try to have 1 dynasty team? Do you go QB/Goalie/Starting Pitcher/ Point Guard....and build around that? -
32oz. Ribeye / baked potato w/s.cream + chives / 4 martinis > BJ Eat it up, go home and pass out, wake up at 3am and take a pooper and 2 Excedrin, then wake her up and say..."It's still my birthday in Alaska"......

Why are there rules in the NHL about stick curve? With the modern technology, you don't see it as much today, but back in the day the guys on the point would go crescent moon to get that baby flying and up. You'd see the opposition call for measurement a good half dozen times a year. In reality I agree.....by deflating the balls, the Pats probably went from 18% to win the SuperBowl to 18.2%......but not only is it wrong, but they lied, and have a history of other issues. What else have they been doing for 15 years that we haven't exposed yet?

They throw Pete Rose out of baseball for betting on other games, yet here we have someone directly altering the potential outcomes of games and then lying about it. $250,000 is my guess.

That explains......Connoly's neck/head, McKee's MRSA, Roy's knee, Tallinder's arm, Briere's/Kalinin's/Dumont's/Gaustad's sports hernias, all being handled like they were with them missing months of time after poor diagnosis or treatment. -
Good point.

Was he really a top 10 prospect? Even if the agent said he wouldn't sign after the 3rd.....these teams do enough research and have enough info when to make a risk/reward decision. You may not take him at 9....but 99 is a no-brainer if you think the kid is a good kid. Case 1: Jason Pominville's ex-girlfriend is 8 months pregnant in the timeframe he dated her and is murdered. Case 2: Derek Roy's ex girlfriend is 8 months pregnant in the timeframe he dated her and is murdered. They are both projected to be drafted in the #8-12 range. They are both wanted for questioning but not named suspects. Who gets drafted higher?

What do the stats really say? Why was the target uncatchable? Was it because the QB didn't get it there, or the WR wasn't where he should have been. I watched Robert Woods have a meltdown on the field in the San Diego game because Watkins had no clue what was going on. He grabbed Watkins by the neck and moved him on one play, and jumped up and down in a tantrum after another and started yelling at him when he ran the wrong route. People booed EJ after one throw and I actually felt bad for him because it looked like Watkins had no clue. I mentioned this before. It doesn't mean Watkins is bad, or can't or didn't improve.....it means that stats in a nutshell are BS unless you see what the deal is. It's not a joke. Maybe when you interview next year's rookie class at their symposium, you can ask if Collins was used as a case study as to why you keep a low profile when you are about to make mad coin.......

Well.....that was a $12 million condom that didn't get used.........

Nah....it actually describes her pretty well. Plus for the 716 Harbor Center inclined.....she actually created her own salad for the menu. Jessie is our long term hope.

Just to validate your input, yes, I did see the "Boxers or Briefs?" and "What do you like on your hotdog?" questions.....and did wonder who approved the media credentials......
