  1. I can give you some dates from the 1940's as well where things changed overnight. The difference is, I believe in what the team is doing, respect the coach and GM, and felt they were on the right track with a chance to explode forward because of making some not so popular decisions, and getting rid of guys who may be high on talent, but low in guts, character, and football IQ. I WANT these guys to succeed. They are all-out, all day, every day. It's one thing to say you believe in something....it's another thing to feel it in your gut and your heart. I don't have to convince myself that I like the Bills. And like I said, it's not one team over the other as Scott bashed me in the past for being negative about the Bills.
  2. I hear you. There were multiple posts here from people, and given my "label", thought I'd share. If you really want me to freak you out, I can copy a thread from years ago where SDS called me out for being negative about the Bills, and I called Donahoe and Mularkey clowns that would fail. It's funny how things flip.
  3. Maybe the wrong thread for an "I told you so!", but for all the people who think I am some StormCloudian negative person who doesn't have a read on things.....
  4. Any time any of you guys get a chance to get to the Alumni charity things....the wine-fest and casino night, they are so much fun. The old guys aren't afraid to tip them back and the war stories you get are great. They really work their butts off too. I have so much respect for the work they all do. The wives are very supportive as well. It makes you proud to be a Buffalonian to see not only the players show up, but how the old guys out of town send things in to bid on or for prizes. I can be critical of guys on the ice or behind the bench, but where it really matters, it really is one big family in this town.
  5. Fitzpatrick does not have a strong arm, but Gailey and him have enough synergy to overcome that 92% of the time. It would be nice to have guys respect the deep ball, but that hasn't stopped Freddie Jackson from putting up MVP numbers. I was not a big Fitz guy because his accuracy was horrible, he used to give up on plays and scramble too early, and yes, he doesn't have grade A tools. Look at Indy though.....they have the horses on offense, but they were so system oriented on Manning being in there that the average guy can't pull it off. The same thing would probably happen here if Thigpen had to start. That's what you get when you have an intelligent QB out there....he's another coach. I could name 12 QBs who I would rather have in an instant, but maybe only 3 or 4 that could execute this offense with this talent level at this point.
  6. Maybe Ted Black would let you stay in his guest room.
  7. You guys should check out the Alumni wine-fest in November. It's $75, but tons of good food and and wine samples. Also hard stuff as well to sample. A bunch of the old guys are there and there is a basket raffle and tons of good stuff for silent auction. It was a blast last year and the cash goes to cancer groups.
  8. Facebook spying... You know how in the corner it suggests people you may know? When someone searches for you it will suggest them as a friend many times. I don't really care, except when it is obvious someone in the industry who I am not friends with is searching for info, and there is no other link that would lead them to my profile. There's enough poker playing in the world...I just want to be able to see my cousin's $8 halloween costume 1500 miles away, and not have to run counter-intel.
  9. They have been pretty good when using this method. I think I'm 70% over the years betting the Sabres. Problem is it was more obvious to me when I thought they were not a good team. But if you look at it on a technical basis, the charts work more than not good/bad for everyone. The key is to find a team that looks like they've peaked going against a team ready to bottom. Betting lines are usually a what have you done for me lately venture....so you can really squeeze a nice return. I think I caught Ottawa, Carolina and the Islanders at +250 on average against them the past few years. That being said, I could have sent someone to Buff St. this year with the dough I burned at Saratoga this summer.
  10. Sweet! Right around games 15-20 is when it starts to take hold to read some tea leaves.
  11. I know Cross....I am just goofing a bit, and I know people everywhere have the ability to raise or can attempt to stifle. Many don't know the negative effect they can have on people, including my own actions. On that note, I will give a bit of testimony in honor of F'n Fantastic Friday. This is a community here. It is one on it's own, but also represents the people of Buffalo and many expatriots. In my own overzealousness in the past through my attempts to keep certain factions honest, I have stepped over the line and hurt innocents and those who may look at this place as a relief from stress instead of an inducer. I have understood that in the past, yet I tend to gravitate to my own gratification time and time again instead of thinking of how I may have a negative influence on others. As much as I sometimes wish people could understand where I am coming from, if many don't, and I have no direct influence on the subject at hand, then I am both an idiot and cruelhearted to continue to act in such a way. I would like to formally appologize for some of my previous actions. I have a very good radar in my opinion, and the fact I had some who I respected tune me out was a good indication I needed to step back. Instead of being adult about it and going on sabatical, I entrenched myself in a food fight that didn't need to be waged in order to make it easy on myself to disappear. It has happened before, and as much as I have a distate for it being pointed out, it is true. I hope that everyone here is always well, as it is very few in the world who are only capable of evil. Instead of focusing on how others can improve themselves, I will attempt to focus on improving myself in my dealings with others. This doesn't mean that I will not slap someone across the face with a 20lb salmon if they are full of crap, but I will try not to fling perch and haddock across a room full of girlscouts just to make my point. And speaking of girlscouts and fish, while my innuendo may offend some, I will attempt to direct it at only likewise understanding parties, and not to make a general point.....as tough as that may be for me. If you would like to donate to my newfound anti-depressant pharmacy bill, please make checks payable to Thadeous Black. Thank you for your ear.
  12. I've been the only white person working in an all black area.....I dated a muslim girl and would sleep over at her condo where all muslims lived and worked....but I wouldn't bat an eyelash in those situations compared to my time passing through West Virginia. That's the truth. I'm a bible respecting Christian myself....but evolution was alive and well....then took a wrong turn in the hills of West Virginia.
  13. Keep going into West Virginia and strike up a conversation with the attendant at the gas station. That'll bring ya back down....
  14. Looks like you left the backdoor open. I'll save us both some time and just go lick a brass rail covered in vinegar.
  15. I think Polian says it best from what I have seen. Kent Hull was like the big brother you didn't want to disappoint. Even though there were guys making plenty more money, and living the life, I'm pretty sure every person with a soul on that team looked up to Hull. I only met him once...when I was 12. It was just as the Bills were coming together and getting good. There was an event at Kleinhan's Music Hall called "Bills at the Phil", which combined a musical program by the orchestra with a football theme.... and there weren't many people around like myself....a young fan who knew every player by face. It was by far the coolest thing I have ever experienced as a fan. I remember Kent Hull well that night because they were just getting ready for the performance to start and Hull was coming up the stairs from the private party. He was wearing a long sleeved, plaid, flannel shirt. Perfect outfit. As I catch him at the top of the stairs and try to ask him for his autograph, a suit....who I swear was STILL Scott Berchold at the time, tried to whisk him away and told him he had to leave. Hull just stops, and did his wry smile with something like an Elvis lip curl. Doesn't say a word...grabs my program and autographs it. I thank him and he just nods his head and goes with Berchold. His teammates have to be in rough shape tonight. God Bless #67 and all his family and friends.
  16. Here's what good teams do.....Fitz and Gailey have built up the most goodwill on this team and are respected for their heads. Fitz goes in and owns it..."I F'd up....we are a good team and should have beat a good team on the road...but I screwed the pooch." Gailey goes in and gives a little of the same...."I wanted to be aggressive because I believe in you boys. The wind was apesh!t out there and maybe putting up a 40 yarder wasn't the best idea. Even though our D-Line was out..I believe in all of you. We'll get this one back." They have 2 weeks to be proud and know they were at one point in control of all 6 games with 3 minutes left. 3 weeks rest between games for Wiliams, Merriman, Kelsay (4). Sad loss, but anyone who thought this team is a fluke has to now know otherwise.
  17. This team is set in stone for now. I have to accept it and focus my energy somewhere else. The Pegulas are good people and I wish them the best in meeting their goals. What's shakin' Taro?........I've lurked and I will lurk for the most part. You almost drew me in with your "real world" conversation, but I liked the resident academics in the debate too much to chime in.
  18. My young, Bostonian compatriot......I think you need to learn the difference between attack....and expose.
  19. Thank you. I will not comment on the Buffalo Sabres as this is an exciting time for the fans and I have learned from the past that playing devil's advocate is no good for collective morale. I just feel that people with power need to be held accountable. Sure, the original letter to the editor may have seemed from a novice fan, but that doesn't excuse a supposed professional from his own conduct over the years and the methods he uses. A whole generation of fans doesn't know what it is like to have an exciting football team around here so there will be a learning curve for some.
  20. Pleasure as well. Although I'd hate to find out what your sister's middle name is.
  21. Oh, you mean the guy who comes out before the season with the "inside scoop" on how the Bills have the 3rd assistant VP making trades and the organization is in chaos...chiding fans on a message board to become outraged at the departure of an overpaid, fly route running, aligator arming, thirtyish receiver...instead of listening to the football men in control of the team who said they have the young hungry horses on the team to make him expendable and in fact make the team better......all while being the ONLY print reporter to have direct access for 2 years to a truly dysfunctional organization led by a political hack who would trot out his candyland view with zero scrutiny all the while planning the sale of the team by operating as cheaply as possible? Or do you mean the internet blogger who directly linked to his website and received 50% of his traffic from the city where he was planning his occupational return as an insurance policy? The second I don't care about as it is like worrying about the difference in keeping Matt Ellis or Shoane Morrisson. But the first one........yeah, I would take anything he says with a grain of salt....or 30 grains of Paxil washed down by rye.
  22. Rape a Sweedish girl....
  23. You Piece of Crap....False Accusations like that should have you hung from the nearest 25 foot oak tree. A pillar of the community who moved away from his family to give his body and soul to Buffalo...and you slander him like this. And you had to START a thread just to drop this crap. Nice job A-hole
  24. A couple of you guys mentioned Victory....and I think it is a winner. I had a few Golden Monkeys the other day and was shocked at how smooth for 9%. I had a few and went to la-la land. It was $5 on tap for a pint and I guessed $10 because it was too smooth for the content. Just picked up a bunch of different 6-packs from Wegmans and am 3 deep on their 9% stout. Pretty good.
  25. I smell a group roadtrip for the Bluejackets game.....
