  1. Lindy doesn't know how to use players who are in a power forward/jam-grit mold. Which is crazy considering he played that style. Maybe he is self-loathing? I don't know. Pyatt was a baby when he came over. And anyone that says his stats are similar to his Buffalo days are crazy. God knows we can't use a big bodied 15-20 goal scorer who would have led the Sabres in hits the past 4 years total. That's OK, the Rangers have him now. Vancouver picked up all of those guys though....that's why they were listed. I've made the point before....you find a weakness in someone and go back to the well. Vancouver has taken in all those guys....heck, they even took a flyer on Mancari! Let's see.... Bernier and Zubrus won a cup last year while playing every playoff game, and being #3 and #1 in hits on the team Pyatt and Torres went to the conference finals on a bankrupt team. Paille won a cup MacArthur is the only one who hasn't seen team success yet. I have no idea if Kassian can be great, but he got out early enough to still have it in him.
  2. I'm sick of making the same point and doing the research every year this gets brought up, but Pyatt has flourished as a checking forward who has averaged 15 goals a year since leaving Buffalo. His only minus season was a -4 last year....he's now on the Rangers who fit him perfectly. 3 goals and 15 hits in 5 games. Torres was "out of shape" according to Lindy. Had zero goals as a Sabre but averages 15 to 20 everywhere else. Torres said himself, "I'm too busy having to think out there instead of reacting" when asked about the Sabres system compared to what he was used to. Paille hasn't exploded, but is a regular and has won a cup on a team that is LOADED at forward. Again, name ONE FORWARD that was an original Sabre and has developed under Ruff, who can score 15-20 goals a year and actually take a physical game to their opponent? You can't. But there have been plenty of young guys who left and blossomed in short order. Does it really matter anymore? Here we are at game 5, and it looks obvious the "tone" set in game 1 was a token gesture. Now Foligno is peeling off checks left and right, Ott is making contrarian decisions out there for the sake of shaking it up, Stafford is back to being Stafford, and Gerbe and Kaleta are the only strong-willed enough guys to dig in, but they haven't mattered. This is year 2 of spending the largest cash outlay of any team in the NHL on salaries. There aren't anymore excuses. Kassian got out at the perfect time. He only had a few games here. We traded a young Clark Gillies for a young Craig Janney if everything works out perfectly. If he stayed with Lindy though, he'd end up more Clark Griswald.
  3. Pyatt...Torres...Bernier....Kassian....Foligno..... If they are young enough when they leave to not be completely mind-f'd by the system....the guys do well. If they were vets when they came here....the guys do well. The ones that clunk are the young guys that come through the system and are here for a long time. The Kotaliks/Kalinins/Afinogenovs........the MacArthurs, Pailles, Pyatts, etc....guys with grit and jam potential....they have all had nice careers and play with more consistant gumption. It's so freaking obvious and has been for years. Mike Weber has hit the demarcation line. Maybe someone can save him this year. Foligno's on deck to go.
  4. Hysterical. The excuse machine in full gear. There is zero chance that was on purpose....and if it was, Lindy is a desperate moron. You either have the goalie at his blueline, or play the 6th guy deep out of the Caps blueline if you are worried about possesion. You don't waste 25% of time remaining, playing a cutesy game, which many posters here noticed the gaff in real time. They just play patty-cake and get the shot blocked anyway. And as far as that situation goes...why not send your big guys out there to collapse the play in front of the net and then scrum it home? Ott has been your best faceoff guy....you have Foligno, 2 towers in Myers and Scott.....run it like a sweep in football...get a body on a body and you leave 2 snipers ala Pommer and whoever out there, to snipe from the immediate perimeter or one of the brutes forces one in. You went and got these ogres.....F'n do something with them!
  5. Lindy's Hidden Ball Trick.......where all 40 balls disappear at the same time......
  6. I noticed it too, but figured they had a guy outside the blueline in case they lost the faceoff who would pinch in the puck stayed in. That is just crazy. Off a timeout no less.... I'm trying to be positive and not rehash the same things from the past 6 seasons now. It is what it is. Sad thing is, with this start, even if they go 3-1 in their next 4 games, that just gets them to a projected 8th place almost 20% into the season.
  7. A handle of scotch for road trips......
  8. Ott impresses me with his savy. He is often the first to transition to a defensive position on pinches or when he feels the momentum about to flip. He also is constantly moving into space if there is a battle going on, anticipating the next move. That pass was a thing of beauty too.
  9. Nice to see Regehr with the "A" instead of Lindy's pet Jo-Jo
  10. Miller WAAAY too busy playing pucks and shoving guys. I can see him doing something stupid and giving up an empty netter.
  11. I don't think my scene is appropriate!
  12. You're going places kid.....you're going places..... I'm going to let you in on the best networking secret there is.........smoke. Yes, you heard that correctly. Smoking brings all kinds of people together. The old thing about needing to golf if you are in business to network......nope...smoke. This past generation has had the smoking taboo drilled into them....but those in their 40's +.....the decision makers and people with power....many still smoke. And when you kibbutz with people...you tend to learn things. I guess you can learn things serving up mocha grand lattes as well.......but if you want the goods.....light up.
  13. Oreo about to get dunked in the Lindy milk........ Hey?.....how about Weber getting a shot since we are 11% into the season? I know the D has been Oh-so-physical....... Foligno is 3 games away from never being a Sabre after this year...... On a positive note.....Cody Hodgson is cute as a button......
  14. Singing in the Rain......
  15. Everyone say it with me now......Mayson Raymond for Marcus Foligno.......oh...it's coming.......
  16. Forgive my rudeness here....but I'm on your side. Get one of those big metal based vibrating doohickies.....put some traces of chocolate on it and let it crust over....put it in your pocket....when you beep, let the guy grab it and then tell him you used in on your boyfriend last week who just got deployed overseas and you want to feel close to him at all times. You gotta fight fire with fire........I'm only 23% joking here.
  17. If Roby wasn't on the Fentanyl slider.....he would've called Myers a Puss. I think we need someone sharp with the intranets and Lotus spreadsheets to come up with a program to translate '13 Roby into '91 Roby.......
  18. You guys are dropping like flies in here.....
  19. This needs to come up for air! Karlsson leads the 3-0 Sens in scoring with 2g 2a and is a +5 Still early....but given the early panic with Myers....let's keep this puppy handy.
  20. If this kid gets diagnosed with a circulatory/cardiac issue......I want Ted Black to send me a Sabretooth bobblehead from the store.....and some of his famous Superbowl taco dip. Retired by 28. Probably by 26. Hopefully in one piece. This medical staff has NO CLUE! And didn't Mike Wilson at least fight Lindros?
  21. Wouldn't touch the ND kid for anything. Either a sociopath....or a complete idiot. Couldn't even tell you about his football prowess but this stuff is stupid.
