Pegula's management philosophy coming into focus
Ghost of Dwight Drane replied to Stoner's topic in Archive
He DID sign 7 players: Connolly, Roy, Hecht, Gaustad, Kotalik, Afinogenov, Kalinin.... to the SAME TOTAL SALARY as 6 players would have cost: Briere, Dumont, Drury, Grier, McKee, Campbell... It's a freaking FACT!!!!!!!!! I'm going over to PA's house and we can punch each other in the nads for fun....set to the backdrop of whatever that song was when Elias was running from 30 VC in Platoon...... -
Pegula's management philosophy coming into focus
Ghost of Dwight Drane replied to Stoner's topic in Archive
For the 800th time... Darcy had the opportunity to sign: Briere at 5 for 25 Drury at 4 for 22 Dumont at 3 for 6 Grier at 1.5 McKee at 4 for 10 Campbell at 5 for 25 These are all reported and FACT! The fact that all of these players went to other teams within a year of being willing to sign for those amounts AND received 40% higher salary on average is enough on it's own to suggest Regier has no clue of market value. All those guys would have fit under the cap over the next 3 year period. The only ones who wouldn't have made their pay were Drury and McKee, and McKee at 2.5 would be much more fair than McKee at 4. Instead, he took that 21.5 total and spent it on Afinogenov, Kotalik, Connolly, Roy, Hecht, Gaustad and Kalinin. Congratulations Sabres fans! You are now bordering on 5 playoff games won in the past 6 years. Extensions All Around! -

GAME DISCUSSION THREAD GDT: Leafs at Sabres (7:00PM 1-29-2013)

I expect it. One good thing about Lindy is he tries to build momentum in his shootout choices. -
He fought Talbot and went off holding a limp shoulder. Peca was never the same after Konowalchuk
-
Sounds like Callahan just Peca'd himself in a fight.....hope he's ok.

He just has such a sweet shot. Maybe he can get in the all-star game and do that plate thing sometime. -

Tonight really is a must win. It's easy to say that for any game...BUT.....if they lose today then they go into Boston on a 4 game skid. This team gets tight when things are going wrong, and supposedly there were moves made in the offseason to offset what happened in Boston last year. Do you really think that this team, line tinkerings, gripping the stick, Lindy system, etc., will have the confidence to go into Boston and make a statement if they are in a rut? Or will they be worried about playing position and not making mistakes and trying to do everything just to hang on for a point or 2? That's the problem tonight. If they lose to the Leafs, they are like a wounded baby bunny going into Boston. The hawks are already circling in anticipation..... -

I used to sell games using the Sabres website back in the mid 90's. Had the cheapest seats in the house and I'd get $60 easy for a Leafs game even before the team got hot.... -

Yeah....it's so saturated, I'm keeping an eye out in case panic ensues and I can pick up some good seats for a song. It's always a fun time for these games....lots of banter and booze. -

Wow! Things ain't what they used to be. Stubhub loaded with $25-30 tickets for tonight and clubs in the $75-85 range. Sesason ticket holders taking a 20% loss on a Leafs game? Yikes! -
I was actually supportive after the effort they started the season with. Then I saw Marcus Foligno start the game in Washington, and peel off 3 checks on his first shift alone. The sad fact is that the Sabres play physical hockey like a fat girl makes a New Year's resolution to exercise and lose weight. They can concentrate on it for about a week, then it's back to Twinkieville.
-
And the top 3 in hits on the Sabres have 2 goals....leaving 1 goal from the remaining 6 forwards who have played....who also have a total of 17 hits in 31 games.....Kassian has 4 goals and 16 hits in 6 games.....plus a shootout winner that isn't tallied..... ;) Crappy SO try! But why is he in the 3 slot both times?
-
Wait until game 10......when he has as many goals as the first line combined from 6-10...... :P
-
Kassian now has as many goals as the entire Sabres roster, minus the first line....
-
I'm not going to fight it. Like a college softball catcher....if you like p#ssy......you like p#ssy. Lap it up all you want.

If you search through Miller threads, I purchased the online Sporting News statistical study that showed where goalies let goals in from and linked it here. I'm really sick of this same freaking team...year after year...and the same arguements. I don't have the time or patience anymore, but it's out there. He has no clue on soft floaters if there is movement just prior to the shot. Myers and Marfan....Miller and Plagiocephaly or something related......if I'm not at least 1 out of 2...then call me Sally.....
-
This year... Pyatt, as many goals as your 4th-12th forwards combined. Kassian as well. Hey...I admire anyone that can spend money on this team year after year. I gave up my tickets after 2007. Again...find me ONE player Lindy Ruff has developed in 16 years that can score 15-20 goals and impose even mediocre physical will on someone? Maybe give him some credit for Dumont, but they let him walk over a few pennies to try and get to Briere. Let's just see if Foligno turns into just another body, and if Ott loses his mojo after a few weeks. You can't fight the system. I don't have the energy to do it anymore, that's for sure.
