He's headbutted multiple times.....he used to turtle and pull hair.....he has grown up a bit, but guys remember that and I think that's why even Sabre fans are a bit peeved at his actions. I love his energy, but at least Darcy Tucker could take a top 6 shift and get you 15-20 goals.......maybe Kaleta needs to marry Ott's sister and that will calm him down?

There are a few big differences.....Ennis was going into the corner and both guys were moving.......Richards was stationary at the sidewall and Kaleta came in. The corner is like a Bourbon St. alley at 2am.....you know what you are getting into. Richards got mugged in an East Amherst Starbucks..... I get frustrated with the whole disciplinary hearing BS.....but in real time, I was on the phone and said..."Kaleta just killed Richards....he's done for 10 games." And I agree......get p'd about the suspension in the lockerroom.....anything to use to your advantage. Go out and run'em, but be smart.

He does have a history.....and earlier in his career, I wanted him off this team in a bad way. He has grown up over the years though....but people have long memories. I'm just surprised this is turning into such a big deal. It is what it is in my opinion. To me the bigger story is that the Sabres didn't tuck their tails....and RonRol was rewarded once again for giving extended time to some of the gritty boys with Ott and Gerbe hooking up to tie it. I don't want them backing off. I want Kaleta and Ott rooming together on road trips and spending an hour riffing Yo' Mama jokes over a twelver of PBR. Kaleta's heart is in the right place a lot of times with his effort, but he's not always the brightest. At least he doesn't turtle anymore and the refs have cut him some slack this year.

Whoah!!!!!! The Sabres got rid of Coach4Life.....have 7 of the last 8 points banked.....and everyone is getting up in each other's grill because of a fluke play. Let's just relax....enjoy the renewed hustle.....hope that guys keep trying to light up the opposition legally and not get scared off by the suspension.....and Uncle Terry puts pressure on Darcy to trade some of the remaining core to get a few more talented guys with grit in here...... Chill babes.....chill......

It was a stupid and dangerous hit. When Richards went down....i was expecting a stretcher to come out...10 game suspension...and a brawl by the end of the game. The fact that Richards came right back out is why people are peeved and should be, because he looked like a potential rehab patient for the next 2 months.....but that doesn't stop the hit from being wrong. Kaleta gets 3 games is my guess. 2 for the stupid hit, and 1 for being Kaleta. Some guys are just pusses....Sekera went down against the B's like a cannonball took off his leg. 40 minutes later Ruff says it's a charliehorse. I thought Sekera was done for the year considering his reaction.

I'm getting scared because Rolston has obviously taken the leash off the dogs. Rolston represents Sabres status quo to an extent and any success under him may lead to Darcy still being here and making decisions. I am actually rooting for these guys like I haven't in years. It's freedom. Just watching the little things going on out there tells me that. They need to still remold and need much more talented help in here. But just seeing Ott go on his roll and be a pest....Gerbe getting playing time with the right people and lighting it up....Weber and Regehr getting #1 PK pairing.....the guys going down for blocked shots more and the hitters taking that extra .2 seconds to try and rub in some board burns......the turnaround in attitude has happened quicker than I expected. I hope Kaleta didn't take things too far to stop the party. Still trying to figure Rolston out myself.....but so far he seems to have some common sense to go with book smarts. Ott is the captain here in attitude though. He is probably too much of a pest and freeballer on the ice to want to give him the actual "C". He would be deserving, but he's just nuts enough that you want to channel that energy instead of him worrying about the other diplomatic things that come with the "C".

There's something about a ginger dude with those piercing blue eyes......makes him look crazier than he is. I'm telling you now....the New Corps consists of Ott, Regehr, Weber, Gerbe, Kaleta. I'm kinda sorta buying into this sh!t......and it scares me!!!!!

The bad thing about so many shootouts is that the AV guy for the Rangers only had to go back a week to get film on Miller...... Kaleta....everyone is right. Stupid to do that against the boards....Richards did a soccer grimmace....Kaleta has a reputation. They still managed to hang in there and get the late goal.

It's all about protected minutes versus hard minutes.......

Hodgson has great vision....you could see that from his first few games here. He has a quiet cockiness in his offensive game....but like you said, in front and behind his own net, he has gotten outmuscled, and even goes into coast mode at times. Three or Four times this year he could have just tried to lay a partial body on a guy and he may have prevented a goal. In his own zone I long for the days of Derek Plante. But I am starting to enjoy Hodgson for his vision and feeding. I doubt it.....Foligno was called up on an emergency basis last year and even Darcy stated the organisation had him slotted as 3rd line talent going forward. It was a rare moment of complete honesty, but enough other people close to the situation have said similar. If Foligno brings his attitude every night, he can be a real nice 15-20 goal scorer who is a beast to play against. If Kassian puts it all together he has legit 30+ goal skills, and can kill you in a physical alterication. That's just the holy grail right there, and until we are 5 years removed from the trade.....I will feel it was a mistake to let him go unless it was in a package for a legit #1 center.

I see it in the guys who know what they are doing.....Ott, Regehr, Gerbe......there is ZERO chance Regehr is going to cheat his position with 2 minutes left in a tie game, and take a lunging, full-bodied crosscheck to the back of their superstar....unless it's to save a goal. That was just good old fashioned feel for the situation. That was some Tunnel of Death sh!t right there. Now the fellas with some sack look freed up to be themselves....and just maybe it will rub off on some other guys. It will be a process. I'd still blow it up for the most part, but yesterday was the first time in my head that keeping Rolston didn't seem like a horrible idea. He's shown the ability to give his guys long leashes. That's a great 1st step.

The key is....they are playing with more emotion and are a lot chippier. Do you think Regehr goes out of his way to crosscheck Kovi blindsided with 2 minutes left under Ruff? He's a vet...sensed the refs were letting everything go and said, "why not?" The constant chirping and extra stuff.....Like Harry Neale said after the game....the reason Tiger Williams was so good was because he played "angry". From start to finish, he was grumpy. That's playoff hockey....and that's the type of thing that was totally removed under Ruff. To me it looks like Rolston has said, "Don't worry about stuff", be it a blind instinctive pass.....or heck, a 30 footer like Hodgson's beauty on the goal yesterday......or just going and taking an extra shot at a guy or getting in their heads. Look how great Ott has been playing since Lindy left. Ott is the defacto captain right now in my mind, and Regehr, Kaleta, Weber and Gerbe are your invisible letter wearers. If Rolston keeps letting these guys do their thing and they stay loose, and guys like Ennis feel protected and play with more edge themselves....then just maybe Rolston can stick and there won't be as huge of an overhaul. Long way to go though.
