The Sabres Hockey Hotline with... somebody or other?
Ghost of Dwight Drane replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Do these guys broadcast from the arena? What time does the Sabres Store open?.......I suddenly have the urge to purchase a Sabres magnet for $1.99 Oh, and where can I rent a weasel suit on short notice??? -
I have no concrete trade rejection like when Darcy turned down Iginla for Peca....but Darcy stopped any trade from happening at the time by proclaiming Afinogenov and Connolly would be back before the playoffs. He did so even though a few days earlier the official injury report had Afinogenov out 2 weeks into the playoffs at worst, and Connolly hadn't played a game all season. This got him off the hook from making a big move, because he knew the Sabres were going to lose Briere, and probably Drury as well......meanwhile Roberts was traded for cheap, and Guerin went in a deal as well. This is the biggest instance that tipped me off to the 100% fact that Darcy Regier is a weasel. Every time I think about what was going on behind the scenes....then everything he has gotten away with since then, I want to puke as a Sabres Fan and Buffalonian......

You do like your Frenchies.....I'll give you that....... My favorite is that Darcy wouldn't trade Paille/MacArthur/Stafford for Gary Roberts and Guerin to win a Cup.....then he gives up on the 2 who thrive for the price, and keeps the craptastic one......

Pat Kane actually scores a +1.27 Corsi Variance on the morals and politeness scale for the average South Buffalo male ages 16-25.

NYR fire John Tortorella, Hire Alain Vigneault as new HC

Lindy and Dallas are shooting goo-goo eyes at each other like two fatties at the prom...... -
Speeking of Deep Throat......why shall thy elders here even slightly entertain the obvious solicitation????
-
I tell ya...this is the best thing since sliced bread......it's gonna be big...REAAAAL Big!........I haven't seen something this amazing since Gina Lollabrigida burst out of her evening gown when bending over to pet a Golden Retreiver puppy......

He's a WEASEL!!!! #15......
-
In all honesty, Regehr was ok here.......he's intense and a hard worker, but not the most extroverted badass. It was nice to see him get a playoff run in. I'm a "Nearly A"....... Learned that in junior high.........when I was in junior high......not recently.......

It puts a lot of stress on the joint when you try holding up Tyler Myers for 18 months.......
-
I like the draft party....they do a nice job. I forget the exact prices, but it was like $4 for a big beer and a few bucks for a hot dog. It's a laid back affair and the whole broadcast team was there, some players, etc. Stuff to do for the kids. Having 2 high picks makes it interesting. They open up the Harbor Club and then the 200 level is cranking.

Thanks...now I want some peel and eat shrimp with OldBay.....

What if you haven't been able to respect your own team for years? I look at it this way........if the Sabres were my family, it would be a single mother who got knocked up and the dad was never around. Boston is like the guy that comes over at 1AM when mom thinks you are sleeping.....and you hear all kinds of things coming out of the room those 2 are locked in. I should hate the guy, but I don't have a daddy......and this guy brought me over a toy for Christmas...and he took me fishing too. So I kinda have feelings for him, as confusing as they may be.....
-
I never said there were hard feelings in the first place.....I said he was happy to get out and go to a contender. I also don't disagree with your view on him. The whole situation is just a giant flag waive of failure though.
-
Is this the FINAL breakup.....or the first breakup with 3 attempts at getting back together in the works...and then another 5 drunken hookups after that? You don't talk ring and then just call it a day......
-
There were nearly 10x as many murders in Chicago as opposed to Boston last year.......... Fun Facts!
-
It's summer.....the pasty, cellulite thighs of the Buffalo girls are actually a tad more trim and have some color to them........take a stroll or a drive and breathe in the cottonwood......
-
So.....they begged him to come here...move his family from the only city his children have ever known.....against his original judgement.....then 18 months later they tell they aren't interested.??? So how does either scenario put the Sabres in a positive light???????????????

Betting Hungry Island here #1 w #3 Centre Court......not sure why she's 5-1, although this is wide open. Taking shot on Merit Man in 9th.....really like the distance for the pedigree and he looks sharp off rest. 10-1 or so Trying Optimizer in the 10th. Point of Entry will be big favorite....maybe 5-1 or so on Optimizer. For the Belmont.....I'm confused. Going to probably bet Overanalyze. I really liked how he looked in Arkansas and he has a good cruising speed, grinding style for this type of race. Not sure who else......if Vyjack looks in good shape, I will use him.....

I think you are forgetting the part where 6 months earlier McKee presented to the Sabres the EXACT same terms he ended up turning down FROM the Sabres after the season. There was more to it than a money grab. It was typical Darcy. OK.....I challenge you to come to my basement for 72 hours.....bring some lotion....and a basket. ;)

I'm not saying they haven't outplayed their norm.....but there seems to be a lot of pushing the conversation to "Boston got lucky". Well....maybe to SWEEP Pitt, but to act as if Boston isn't here on their own merrit thanks to a lucky loss by the Leafs of some posts hit by Pitt.....that's sour grapes. Toronto was down 3-1 to Boston....and tied in Boston in game 5 with 8 minutes left in the 2nd. They were 35% to win at that point....45% for Game 6 in Tor....and 40% again for 7 in Bos. For Boston to lose the series at that point was a 20-1 shot...... If you look back in the thread, my hockey gut told me to layoff game 3......but then my "now gut" said to roll with Boston because of a few factors....Fleury getting the ax against NY being one of them.
-
Not only that...but I do applaud them for trading for Ehrhoff's rights.....but that gave them a huge advantage. If he went to open FA without that, he may not have even fielded Buffalo's call. We had him held captive. And supposedly Lieno even lied and said he would play center in order to get a payday!
-
OK....but there are 28 other teams Bickell can go to.......if Buffalo is in the top 5 of ANYBODY's list who is worth a salt.....and they didn't grow up within a 90 mile radius.....I'd be surprised. And that is the "immature" pro athlete. Granted, that probably defines 70% of them......
-
Have I once said Vokoun was bad? As soon as they pulled Fleury then started him next game, I said Pitt was toast for the playoffs. I thank Coach Bylsma for the move as it made me very confident Boston would knock them off, and in quicker fashion....allowing me to make some uncharacteristic "chance choices" the past week. Oh yeah....but it has been a theme. I think everyone is starting to come around a bit on Boston now being a "team". The finals should be interesting. Boston has won 9 of their last 10......too much too soon?
-
Everyone has been trying to excuse away Boston's success. Boston hit 4 posts the other night as well......Everyone said they got lucky beating Toronto in Game 7.....how lucky was Toronto coming back from a 3-1 series deficit and being tied in Boston in game 5 near the end of the 2nd period? Even at a coinflip they would have had a 12% chance to win the series at that point......in reality it was more like 4%.
