  1. 1. Honestly not too sure. Would like to be close to Key Bank if possible I guess, but really looking to be somewhere where we can bounce around from place to place for a drinks. Saturday night maybe somewhere that is doing something for Halloween? 2. Not too much of an issue. There are a few of us so we'll be splitting some costs. Not an issue. 3. I guess more pubs/sports bars? Somewhere with a good variety of options would be best? Also looking for the best wing place (hopefully in the area of the above) for first timers.
  2. Hi All. Long time no post. I've been lurking and reading for the past couple years, but not much posting. First -- if there's somewhere that this can be merged into, by all means. I did a search to find another thread to just add on to but couldn't find anything. Anyway, I'm from out of town and making my way into Buffalo next weekend for the Sabres game and maybe even the bills game with a few buddies. I've been to Buffalo once before, but really just a stop in and out. My question for those familiar is where do I want to stay / spend my time? Obviously i'm not familiar with the city and want to check out whatever downtown (maybe?) has to offer while i'm there. Anything and everything would be appreciated. Thank you all!
  3. Stafford emotional during his post-game press conference when talking about Miller. Huh, guess he is human..
  4. Sounds kinda like Ryan Callahan to me. Thumbs up if that's the case.
  5. Shinkaruk please
  6. Yes. Except I don't know that any of the Sabres kids who were up could make the play that Krug just made with his skate to set up Boston's second goal.
  7. Does anyone have the numbers on what percentage of the time a team wins game 5 in a 2-2 series, ends up winning the series? Or knows of a site that has the statistics? I know i've read it on here somewhere before but don't remember the numbers.
  8. I actually want him to play in Rochester. I didn't see anything in his first couple months of NHL time that made me think he is ready to play in Buffalo yet, and I don't think his return to the Q is going to change that. Maybe the AHL game is the step in the middle that is right for his development right now.
  9. I feel like i'm missing something obvious here, but who is "Mo" that Ennis and Pommer keep referring to?
  10. Yes, although Markstrom is exhibit A in the "goalies take longer to develop so you better draft one well before you need him" phenomenon. He was the first pick in the 2nd round in 2008 and is getting his first real playing time this season, and even then not until their starter went down for the year.
  11. Jacob Markstrom is going to be a real good goalie one day. You could argue he's a real good goalie already. I think Florida has a good start with him and Huberdeau going forward.
  12. I think a fair amount. The new GM will have his ideas about the prospects when he gets in. If the new GM is just going to defer to the scouts, then whats the point of getting rid of Darcy? (With the draft in mind, not necessarily the deadline and other trades) I agree Darcy could still want picks, but he doesn't have to announce that he ONLY wants picks to all the teams interested in Regehr. If he didn't say that, he could still reject any offers they may send him that included players and prospects and reject it and go with picks in the end. It just doesn't make sense that he would handicap himself like that from the start.
  13. This makes me think that they are having serious thoughts about a new GM before the draft. If they were set with Darcy, wouldn't they give him the opportunity to get prospects he likes? This way, they're acquiring the picks to potentially let someone else turn them into players.
  14.
  15. Pominville beat the goalie in the shootout (like he usually does) and hit the bar. Of all the things to complain about, Pominville in the shootout shouldn't be a top option.
  16. I understand the strategy and teamwork that is involved, as there is even some of that in Nascar. But just taking it at face value, nothing about what I described in my last post sounds like good-competition or sport at all, and certainly can't be what fans are looking for. Being told not to win the race when you're a race car driver just shouldn't sit well with anyone.
  17. I admittedly don't follow F1 and am a Nascar fan, but I saw a headline on ESPN and read the story the other day about F1. It was saying how Vettel apologized for passing his teammate and "ignoring team orders" and, wait for it....winning the race. Really? Apologizing for winning the race? YOU'RE A RACE CAR DRIVER. YOU PLAY TO (WIN THE RACE). Then later in the article it mentioned how (I don't remember the names) the 4th place driver did follow team orders and didn't pass the 3rd place driver, and finished in 4th despite clearly being faster and could have finished 3rd. The eventual third place finisher said after the race that he didn't feel he deserved to be on the podium, because he knew his teammate was faster and should have passed him. None of that sounds like healthy competition to me, and if I was a fan that followed it closely I would be pissed.
  18. On a shot from that distance though, don't you believe that you have to play the odds? Other than "stop the puck" i'm not sure what specifically you wanted him to do. I think most goalies play that the same way, get as big as possible coming across the crease.
  19. On the game winner though, Miller played it correctly. It was going to take a perfect shot to go in and Turris nailed it. If Miller waits longer for the shot to be released, it's too late to react from that distance to stop the shot. Nice shot, nice goal.
  20. I don't mind the move at all. I don't think anyone who has watched Grigorenko play can say that he was ready to be in the NHL. The shortened training camp didn't give the team a good amount of time to evaluate him, so I would assume they still weren't really sure where he was development wise when they made the original decision to keep him up. Now that it's clear he's both of no use to the Sabres AND not helping himself develop personally, they might as well get him playing where he is more comfortable. With his 23rd game coming up and Leino coming back, everything fits.

  22. Five games it is, just saw Shanny's video on NHL network.
  23. I was hoping they'd ask Miller in his interview but I didn't hear it, so does anyone know what lead to the Miller/Henrique thing after the game? Or the Ennis/Henrique thing for that matter?
  24. Rolston says they need their best players to be their best players. That sounds familiar.
  25. That's gonna leave a mess on the ice...
