What will be the Sabres approach at the trade deadline?
inkman replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
McKinnon’s disposition has me slightly aroused. My lord what I would give for someone like that on the Sabres. -
In case anyone needs a push over the end it all today line…

Quite frankly, I think McCabe is twice the player Samuelsson is. Jake wasn’t perfect but he was more than serviceable in a 4/5 dman role. His problem here is that he was often asked to be 1/2 dman. Not ideal. Samuelsson might and I mean might be a 5/6 but he’s probably best suited as 7/8 dman.

I had to find my reaction in that thread. Cautiously optimistic but certainly not overwhelmingly excited about it. I guess more of us should have realized how much Rasmus was impacting his game. It’s blatantly obvious at this point. Is this what you want, what you think will happen or do you have evidence indicating it is fact?

Anchors are a good thing. I think the issue started when everyone dropped “boat” from the phrase making autistic people like me go nuts. (I don’t think I’m really autistic but stuff like this is like a road block in my brain that I can’t move past)

From Lucic to Noesen - The Sabre lack of backbone exposed again

For guys who love each other, they certainly have a funny way of showing it on the ice -
Argh Friedman and Marino are the bane of my existence. Constantly purporting opinion as fact. My apologies.

Boom https://thehockeywriters.com/sabres-need-to-extend-bowen-byram-before-july-1st/#:~:text=Byram Wants to Be a Number One Defenseman&text=Byram would eventually like to,the team's number two defenseman. There happens to be one issue with the Sabres signing him to a long-term contract. Byram would eventually like to become a team’s number one defenseman. With the Sabres already having Dahlin and Owen Power on the blue line, that is tough. With Dahlin being the team’s number one defenseman, right now Byram is the team’s number two defenseman. Who knows, maybe if Byram signs a long-term contract in Buffalo, Power will surpass Byram and become the team’s number two defenseman and Byram gets stuck as the number three defenseman.

Do you think that’s something this team would actually do? -
I said I’d celebrate the end of the drouht. Immediately followed by the realization this team still needs a lot of work.

I can’t get there. Glad they won but the amount of F’s I give about this team is almost depleted.

I missed the stupid staged fight from Gilbert as my wife decided to unplug our WiFi right before the game started. Probably for the best. I would have skewered this org more than I already do which is saying something.

I got no problem keeping and paying Byram but think dude has 1.5 skates out the door.

Do RFAs get dealt at the trade deadline?

I’ve been thinking about EEE-sock. What makes him a great AHL player. It’s his awareness. Always seems to find the puck in space. Hope he makes me look prescient.

Hiney Stroka!

Let’s just fantasize they actually do what you are laying out. This team gets smoked like a brisket at inkman’s house in the first round. I guess we can all celebrate ending the drought but they’ll be gassed by then and their roster is exactly opposite of a playoff team. A third of our players won’t even be able to finish the series as they’ll get physically abused right out of the playoffs.

Future Sabre Cameron Schmidt.

I wouldn’t have used the MSG app if they paid me $30 a month. Probably not even $300. It was easily the worst steaming experience I’ve ever had and I subscribed to AHLTV.

Sheltering him from what?

If there is some exaggerated over the top feistiness from the Sabres tonight, I’m going to laugh out loud. It would be so Sabres to get called out and then have Peyton Krebs fight Zack Aston-Reese at puck drop.
-
And still be in last place in the conference. What difference does it make? They threw the season away losing 13 in a row. Every person who has ever said the word Sabres should have been fired 10 times over. What on Earth are we doing here?

For starters, the Sabres are the Washington Generals of the NHL. Why would any self respecting athlete want to even sniff the Sabres. Clown show, poverty franchise that repeatedly has demonstrated they have no idea or even worse they aren’t even trying to ice a competitive lineup. If I was a player on this roster I’d be snorting my way right outta town and find any team besides this joke of a franchise. Or as some would put it, pull an Eichel.

Byram has stated he wants to be a number 1 Dman. Well that ain’t happening in Buffalo with king Rasmus in the building so…. Also, knowing the salary cap could double and not affect the Sabres plans is about as deflating as not responding when your best center is laying prone on the ice and no one doing anything about it.
