I guess that was tremendous foresight on your part as I didn’t see anyone re-signing with the team before the end of the season.
-
Am I the only one that is somewhat annoyed with the “signing” portion of this thread? That’s what my octogenarian dad calls trades in sports. They aren’t signings. They are trades. Signings occur on and after July 1st. Please don’t fill my ear (or eyes) with how players like Greenway signed extensions in March. That’s clearly not the intent of this topic.

Sabres sign Jordan Greenway to a 2 year/4 million AAV Extension
inkman replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
The discussion for Greenway needs to start and end with the penalty kill. He’s an elite PK specialist. He also contributes 5 on 5. But his calling card is the penalty kill and he doesn’t hurt you 5 on 5. -
What will be the Sabres approach at the trade deadline?

To be fair, if they resign Greenway and Zucker, the Sabres would be lucky to get a few mid round picks for Joki, Bryson and Gilbert -

Not really invested in what they do with Adams. I’m still not convinced he’s going anywhere. Firing Lindy now or even after the season would be doing him pretty dirty. I mean he probably deserves it but you have to maintain face as an org. Maybe move him into a different role but straight up canning him is a terrible looks. -

Our players are so bad at being tough -
If you think he’s broken and can’t be fixed, I’ll listen to it. Maybe he’ll never be the same player. I’d hate to give up on him in a trade deadline move (not sure who’d want him other than a team looking to fleece the Sabres).
-
He’s a scorer. You put him with scorers. Get him away from Cozens and whoever else they’ve had him with. Now is exactly the time to see what they have with him. Put him with Tage and Tuch.

Why are we throwing away Jack Quinn? If people are worried about players moving elsewhere and flourishing (which is not what happened with Eichel or Reinhart as they were great players before they left but fans have a funny way of misremembering the facts), Jack Quinn would be someone I’d be extremely worried about. I haven’t seen anyone dominate the AHL like him. He’s had a rough go the last couple of seasons but that’s obviously attributed to his injuries. I think if he’s put on a line with actual proven NHL players, he’s going to be good. How many NHL players get signed in March?
-
Sigh. That wasn’t my question.

What do you think the cumulative haul will be for Zucker, Greenway, NAK, Joki, Bryson & Gilbert? Two second round picks and a couple 5ths maybe. I honestly doubt they deal even half of those players. Two of them should be on the roster next season.

Dahlin needs to learn a few things about being the bad guy -
Most NHL analysts blasted the Panthers GM for the Seth Jones trade. GM has a Cup. I guess he’s absolved of criticism because of the resume.

It was happens every night across the league. Now they decide to call it? Because the Sabres aren’t one of the thuggish teams that do it on the reg, so it’s a penalty. Just garbage league as always. -

I’ve seen many a Sabre get absolutely mugged just like Cozens working over the Canadien. Never have I seen a penalty for it. -
I’m glad someone is looking out for the sanctity of NHL GM intelligence

Cozens isn’t a trade deadline move for any team. Why anyone would expect him to get traded when he’s been garbage the last two seasons is interesting to say the least. Teams have to want him, if the rumors are true (which I’m highly suspect of), then I guess there is interest but only because stupid people run NHL teams. Adams has mentioned in the past they use analytics as a tool but by no means use it exclusively. Based on what’s he’s said and what’s we’ve seen, they either choose to ignore the data or they rely much more heavily on the eye test, unfortunately. I’m in favor of moving him as much as the next guy but to use that as the only metric to measure this organization is akin to using data the way the Sabres do. Not so much.

This is what happens when you don’t make the right offseason moves and you don’t immediately recognize the free fall your team was in (13 game losing streak). So they want to make a hockey trade with contenders that are only looking to add players for their playoff run. Well, no one is signing up for that. -
Dude ain’t coming until 2027. It’s pretty hard to be optimistic about a guy we won’t even get a sniff of for 2.5 more years.

I Really Have No Idea How This Offseason Plays Out

No indication from Pegula that Adams is not meeting expectations. -
I really wouldn’t understand trading Alex Tuch. He’s gotta be a part of the core moving forward. If not, what’s the long term plan here.

Just no reason for Clifton to join. Complete bonehead move.
