I loved Will Borgen so much. More than any non lover should.

I honestly find it hard to believe that people are still invested enough in this franchise to discuss theoretical issues for next season.

I think it’s mental. He thrived when he had no responsibilities just skate and make plays. Now that he’s being asked to make smart decisions and do the right thing, he has paralysis by analysis. Overthinking every single shift. He’s needs a therapist or something. Maybe a drinking habit. Something to get out of his own head.

No one on this roster does with regularity. Minus Zucker who hasn’t been tainted by darkSabre yet. These guys have no desire to do anything that’ll mess their hair up. Just figure skaters for our entertainment. Great roster assembly Kevyn. That’s really the beginning and end of it. Drafting and developing is the path to success. Unfortunately, they’ve been terrible at both. They drafted super talented kids. Not sure if any of them has a pulse after Benson. Their actions speak a lot louder than their words. They don’t care enough to do the things that professional men do on the ice. Drive the net, back check, make intelligent decisions with the puck. They do none of it.

I wish it was just him. I’m not sure how much defense anyone on this roster actually plays. Zucker, Benson maybe. Not really any of the defenseman.

Maybe he’s ***** Bobby Orr but his defense is so woeful that it just looks like he’s really good. Not sure if that makes any sense. I want to like him. I look for the positives. Every game I see something I can’t believe an NHL defenseman is actually doing. It’s baffling. He’s big, strong, elusive, creative. So many tools but the eye test is meh. He’ll the wow you for 57 minutes and have two turnovers that end up in the net in .5 seconds. I’ve always looked at him as high risk high reward. Maybe that’s wrong. Maybe he’s high risk, not a lot of reward. Idk man. He needs to be great. I don’t think we see it enough when it matters.

My last shred of hope clung to JJ and Quinn. I was enamored with them as Amerks as I knew for certain that no Sabre mishandling could derail these sure fire NHL stars in the making. Welp. All that hope is gone. Those guys are ruined, destined to be shells of the potential we saw. They have become fully ingrained in Sabre culture where production and winning are mere afterthoughts. I’m sure the players are just as confused, depressed and annoyed as the rest of us. No hope. No end in sight. Just losing. It’s all they know.

Bills twitter is mad cringe right now. Just false bravado abound. The Bills are underdogs, on the road, against an opponent they’ve never defeated in the playoffs. With a HOF QB who has never throw a pic against Buffalo in the playoffs.

I don’t think any player that left here “got better”. I think most of them were good players who went from a dire situation to a competent organization. Eichel - unlikable schmuck but always been a great player Reinhart - Alway good player put into perfect situation in Florida Montour - good player prior to Buffalo, good player after. He played under Krueger, arguably the worst coach in the history of the team if not the league. Skinner - good player before and during his stint in Buffalo. Career coming to a close. Bogosian - high draft pick finally found his niche as a 5/6 dman with Tampa and wherever he ended up O’Reilly - been the same player everywhere he’s been Kane - POS that only plays when he feels like it. Rodrigues - nice role player who can play up and down your lineup. A nice depth piece but isn’t really a difference maker. Ristolainen - not good here, not good in Philly Foligno - good player here, same player in Minnesota McCabe - above average player here, same everywhere else he’s been Ullmark - good for Buffalo, great in super defensive oriented highly experienced team with some of the leagues best defensive players ever Okposo - same player here and in Florida Carrier - 4th line grinder everywhere he’s been Larsson- arguably Buffalo was his best performance Olofsson - One trick pony, hasn’t been better in Vegas Scandella - good player here, good player elsewhere Girgensons - has 2 points this season. Mittlestadt- pretty much a 0.5 ppg player regardless of uni Sheary - ancillary piece that can be good in a supporting role but isn’t never a difference maker Maybe I’m missing someone but I just don’t buy the “players get better elsewhere” narrative.

No coach is going to change these tiger stripes. They are who they are. A woefully flawed group who wilt at the first sign of pressure. They don’t work hard enough on the ice to produce regular wins. They say all the right things but rarely do them.

Bingo. It’s CYA time for the talking heads. Unfortunately, they are given a platform to project their highly uniformed opinions. I can’t change the channel fast enough when I see any of them.
