I don't think that Ari will lose another game this season. They have clearly bought into the tank from management all the way to the coach and possibly players and don't seem to care what they do to win it. The key will be the two games with Ari but I don't see how the Sabres can beat them at this point.

It looks like the Sabres are going to need to win out to secure first. I'm not sure they can do that the way they are playing. I don't see them losing to ARI as it looks like ARI has effectively embraced the tank from top to bottom. I just can't believe we would spend two years to get where we are and then end up picking 3rd or 4th. Whoever we pick will most likely need to go back to juniors or the AHL for another year.

While I firmly believe in the tank. The tank starts with the owner and ends with the GM. The coach and the players must not participate in the tank. They would be playing to lose which is a form of cheating. The GM designs a team so it will win the CHL. The coach and the players must play as well and as hard as they can at all times. If they lose the CHL so be it. I don't think Hackett would matter. Lindback was supposed to be the sieve that we needed. Yet he's playing out of his mind. I'm very concerned that we're blowing it at this point. We don't suffer through a season like this for anybody other than McEichel. What a waste if that happens.

You expect Nolan to tank?

I don't think Reinhart and McEichel shouldn be on the same line. Both are rookies and Reinhart seems to me to be an assist guy more than a scorer. I actually think Kane and Moulson should be on the same line. From what i've heard Kane likes to carry the puck to the net and Moulson is the kind of player that cleans up around the net or works best from feeds on the drive to the net. Foligno, Larsson and Reinhart might work. I wouldn't be surprised though that Reinhart spends some time in the AHL because he may need to and because he can.

I'm hoping they keep Grigs for another year. I'm not sure how you give up on a player that is highly skilled, even if he has some compete issues at 20, when the team can't score and that has so few top line scoring players. I just think they need to give him every chance to "get it" before trading or giving up on him.

I could see Ari and Edm winning out. We're only up 2 on Edm and only 4 on Ari with a game in hand and we play 2 games against Ari. This looks tenuous at best given the winning ways of Ari and Edm. I keep seeing us finishing 2 or 3 and that would be a disaster unless we can win the lottery outright.

While one is not comparable to the other I hope our government can focus on more than one issue at a time. I don't understand the thinking behind the GOP and their letter but agree that it is a concern. I do understand the concerns behind the email fiasco and my suggestion would be that it isn't meaningless and we shouldn't under estimate the ramifications of it.

2nd time ever watching a UB game. It was very entertaining. Pretty good basketball actually.

But a team doesn't intentionally finish at the bottom of the league for any of those other players. That's reserved for the likes of McEichel.

I'm hoping the Sabres can open some space between Edm and Ari the next week or so. Way too close for my comfort. Nobody tanks for Hanifin or Marner.
-
At times Grigs looks lost or indecisive. He just looks like he doesn't know what to do next. The game the other night I thought was a good example. The first 2 shifts he looked terrible. As the game went on, and he became more comfortable, he looked somewhat better. Maybe he just needs a few games to get comfortable in his role? If I remember correctly, he started kind of slow in Rochester but as he became more familiar with his linemates and the team he became better. At 6-2, 215 and that much natural ability I hope they don't give up on him just yet.

We overpaid! :)

And drafting Marner and Strome would be a lot worse than drafting McEichel.

It's possible that the other 29 teams have come to some agreement where they will all play their backup goalies against the Sabres to increase the Sabres points totals so that they can't win the shart. Just some payback for so openly tanking. Or not. :-)

it's a good thing that Kane was patient during that press conference. With the media buffoons at their "best" had he not that press conference could have become very antagonistic very quickly. I understand questions about his shoulder, about his coming to Buffalo and some questions about what happened in Winnipeg. Just don't understand why 80% of the questions were negative questions about what happened in Winnipeg. Just once I'd like to see the player answer a question with "it's none of your business and don't ask again." I'm sure he'd get crucified in the media for months but it sure would be nice.

Puck Daddy says GMTM's desire for Luke Richardson as coach

Nolan may very well be gone after this season. I think that would be a mistake and highly unfair but we are talking about the Sabres and the NHL. As to all of the speculation about Nolan being gone, no one is saying that they have been told that Nolan will be gone. It appears that they are basing their opinions and reporting on what they "think" would usually happen with a team that was this bad and went through a 14 game losing streak. This team isn't in a normal situation, they were meant and designed to lose. Normally the coach would have been let go when the losing streak reached double digits. This Sabres team isn't normal. -
McKenzie reporting Enroth to Dallas.

I don't like what I'm hearing about this trade so far. I think the pieces could be used in better trades. However, it's by far the most exciting thing going on with the Sabres since last season's trade deadline. And I like that Murray is doing something even I don't like the details of the trade.
-
If Murray makes this trade, I'll lose a little faith in him as a GM. Take out Armia & Lemieux, with them in it I'm not sure we are any better after this trade long term. I have a hard time understanding Myers in a trade for Kane but Myers, Stafford and a 2nd or even a first would be palatable. I still think its an overpayment though. I'd prefer taking out Myers and inserting Stewart or even Ennis.
-
The current crop of prospects seems to have a lack of scoring/top line talent. I've read through many, but definitely not all or even most, of the write ups on the prospects. IIRC there are only 3 forwards that are rated to have top line play making/scoring potential, Reinhardt, Grigorenko and Armia. The rest of the prospects are identified as 2nd or 3rd line prospects that may very well be good players but probably aren't going to be top line scoring players. This is a very big reason why we need to get McEichel out of this draft. And Murray needs to trade for some scoring. I'm not sure Kane is that player, but Murray may need to take a chance that he is. I would prefer that Myers stay but if Murray can get his asking price Myers may be worth more in a trade than he will be as a single player.
-
I understand getting Gibson and picks. I don't get trading Myers for another defenseman. It seems to me that if Myers gets traded it is for something the Sabres lack, the goalie of the future or offensive scoring. That's the opportunity. Trade an asset where the team is deepest for where the Sabres are not.
-
It all depends on what we have to give up. Ennis straight up? Done. Stewart? Done. Maybe throw in a 2nd this year. Myers? Not unless there is more than Kane coming back. So far Kane has been a problem child and has a great amount of risk. I wouldn't be willing to do more in a trade. Just move on to the next option.

Much, much less so than some others but yes. It's far harder to name those that are not entertainment than those that are. You have the liberal entertainment: NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, etc. Then you have the conservative entertainment FOX, etc. The imbalance liberal vs conservative probably isn't quite equal but I can't think of any other conservative leaning channels. MSNBC, CNN and FOX shouldn't be classified as news reporting their bias is so blatant.
