I was in New Orleans four weeks ago. I bought a Voodoo doll ...

Argonne. How very cool. My wife is a public school employee. She gets reimbursed for things, from time to time. It’s usually four or five months after the expenditure. In the meantime, I will continue to live vicariously through and with you as you discover and learn .... Enrico Fermi, einsteinium and fermium! Musing .... I don’t think we should invest more resources in these Byzantine Leviathans. Perhaps a conversation for another time and place. It seems to me that education is too important to be left to bureaucrats and apparatchiks. Further to the exercise ...Change “prominent public university” to “prominent public hospital” and “reimbursement” to “kidney”. As the great philosopher Chevy Chase once said ... “Danny, see your future .. be .. your future. Make .. make it. Danny, I’m a veg.”

I had a crush the size of an Olympic Hockey Rink on Molly Ringwald. I may still have it.

I subscribed to The Athletic about a week ago. It’s a bargain. Accordingly, a link, below. It’s a scary story about Kyle Okposo. I had no idea. Sabres fan, hockey fan, MUST READ. Many of you may have, already. It’s a year old. I remember Murphy and enjoyed watching him. I hope he accepts help. These guys are playing with fire, every day. https://theathletic.com/538676/2018/09/24/back-from-the-abyss-kyle-okposo-opens-up-about-the-darkest-days-of-his-life/

An outhouse “uphill”?

Ughhh ... I can see a Leaf/Marner cap problem going away with the next CBA. In other words, they gulp, sign him at $11 million, and then rejoice when the cap fortuitously makes the problem go away. Oh, the conspiracy theories !

In light of PA’s well established cunning linguistic skills, I believe the answer is self evident.

Emotional aversion (no doubt about it) or intellectual aversion (certainly defendable)?

He bad news .... you missed an ALL time great. The good news ... you’ll see others I never will! With obvious nods to Gretzky, Messier, Fuhr and Coffey .... Kurri, Tikkanen, Anderson, Simpson, Lowe, Huddy all combined to make that team arguably the best ever. IMHO, only the ‘76 - ‘79 Canadiens are in the discussion. Honorable mention ... NYI ‘80 to ‘83. Think of that era .... MTL, NYI, EDM won 14 of 15 cups. The depth! My view is limited by my age, of course.

@SwampD‘s best reply in another thread .... “TIL Today I Learned”.

Saw that in my family. I’m a Type I diabetic. I have health insurance, access to good food, math skills and a personality as strong as my physician’s. What a blessing compared to those who do not. My grandmother battled cancer, often calling chemo “radiation”, and vice versa. It ain’t easy. It’s one of the reasons why this fiscally conservative republican supports finding a way to provide access to meaningful health care to all citizens.

Extraordinary work. Ah, SabreSpace .... I went with Casey. How could I not, after a Dale Hawerchuk reference. Oh, what a hockey player.

Jeff Skinner and the evolution of my view ... Early on, he was a talent, a diver, and, no disrespect to him, a concussion susceptible risk. I was firmly in the @TrueBlueGED camp. Since, I’ve enjoyed either watching him grow, or simply learning more about that which was always there. Then, today. https://buffalonews.com/2019/08/08/buffalo-sabres-jeff-skinner-nhl-bill-bowler-jason-botterrill-barbara-underhill-tracy-weinman-jorge-blanco-jari-byrski-hockey-conditioning-news-2019/ I dig this kid. Leadership by example. It’d be easy to collect $72 million and go to the islands for a few weeks ...

LOL, me, too.

OK, OK ... I’m out of time for this trip! Business dinner, tonight, meeting tomorrow, and then flying home. But ... we will be back! The history ...

Of all the freaky coincidences. I opened my iPad and logged in to SabreSpace about a minute ago. At the same time, my food arrived .... at The Ruby Slipper. I’d not heard of it. We just stumbled in after a Garden District tour! Destiny ... Not sure about taqueiria. We may learn, tonight.

New Orleans. The Big Easy. I have business here on Monday morning. MrsNeo and I decided to make a weekend of it, so we flew in yesterday morning. She’s never been here. Yesterday was The French Quarter, Frenchmen Street and a Po Boy and Jambalaya, a Satchmo Festival and a visit to the Jazz Museum. Crawfish omelettes, jazz at breakfast, Arnaud’s for Drum Pontchartrain, Hotel Monteleone and The Carousel Bar for a Sazarac and a Vieux Carré. Finally, Bourbon Street with me wearing a blazer and MrsNeo in a cocktail dress, grinning, then laughing, as beads came her overdressed way. Today, a walking tour of the Garden Distric and its homes, flowers, architecture and history. Then, the mighty Mississippi and the powerful waterfront. Beignets and Coffee Au Lait at Café Du Monde before dinner at Mr. B’s. There’s so much time to do things when you're older and not hung over! If you’re a foodie or a music person, come. Oh, do! PS ... They LOVE their Saints! Almost a “Bills:Buffalo::Saints:NOLA” feeling, emotionally.

Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
Neo replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
The Tampa Theatre opened in 1926, just like Shea’s Buffalo. Chicago architects designed each (John Eberson, Tampa and Rapp & Rapp, Buffalo). Material, craftsmanship, chandeliers, organs, plush and luxurious, all for everyman. Both theatres thrived, faltered, deteriorated and were later revived. They don’t make ‘em like that anymore, and that’s too bad. Here’s to progress and sterile multiplexes. Today, MrsNeo and I will visit the Tampa Theatre, purchase two tiny red and white bags of popcorn, two sodas, and climb the stairs to the balcony. It won’t be crowded. “Our seats” (front row, balcony, stage right) will be open. They always are. Arriving early, we’ll listen to organ music and wonder at the elaborate interior. The ceiling is a deep blue-black night sky, with twinkling stars. Today’s film? “The Wizard of Oz”. Two giggling empty-nesters. We will assault and bombard the scattered NeoEttes with texted selfies all day. Worth the effort. A web search around the architecture of the two theaters. Start here. https://tampatheatre.org/about/history/ Ah, Chicago ... the gifts. Edit to add ... Don’t underestimate the drawing power of The Wizard of Oz. It was packed. We saw many families with children, all dressed in character. Awesome .... Oh, and Flying Monkeys remain scary. -
AWE-SOME! I am in, and listening, now. Shuffle chose the first song .... “What You Need”, INXS. I am excited and grateful, GA.

Ah, to discussions around drafting late in the first round, and not top ten. Yes, please!

Did that a few years back. Great day.
