Classic Darcy move right there -
McNabb, Two 2nds for Hudson Fasching & Nicolas Deslauriers

I don't follow - a team isn't allowed to hit on a prospect deep in the draft? -

Guys we can't hose a team in every trade. At least Murray is willing to make this type of trade -

...and we'll probably nab 2 more 2nds before 3pm today. We didn't have room for McNabb most likely, and we certainly need some options at wing as we have next to nothing coming through the pipeline. I'm good with it -
If a sovereign NATO member is invaded and we don't go all Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty on Russia then we and the treaty are a joke. I have little faith that the EU would do much under the guise of their military. They'd most likely need NATO resources anyways.

No way Putin is that stupid. WWIII if he is

I think its mix of both if anything. Hillary 2016 very well may be a better, well oiled machine than Obamas campaigns were. I'm a libertarian guy through and through so Christie does very little for me. If it's not Paul then I'm just tuning out.
-
My money is on Paul. Depressing to think that it's pointless though if Hillary is running. 'Murica loves them some political dynasties...

That's why we have a supreme court

well hopefully not anymore. maybe the plan was for him to step down all along but in a more diplomatic, timely fashion. if the trade put him over the edge then so be it, but as many have said I couldn't imagine that office of big names and, perhaps, large egos, to co-exist for too much longer.

Hate to say it but I think HE knows exactly what he's doing. I hope this time around we know how to respond

If PLF really is the Yellow King as some are speculating on twitter(BIG if), then I'm going ape for Buffalo ruining the last 2 episodes

I'm tired of so many cop shows (except true detective- amazing).

"Increasingly Substantiated BS" rumor thread- 2014 Edition
radiomike replied to WildCard's topic in The Aud Club
Agreed, I'd give up just about anything -
I think we're going to suck next year no matter who we draft
-
I've been thinking this way for a while. To me it's still all about McDavid. Best case: Draft Ekblad, still tank next year, get McDavid. Plan B: Draft Ekblad, finish near bottom, package picks/D prospects (Big Z, Risto, or Ekblad) to try to get to McDavid. Plan C: If plans A and B fail, you still have what is most likely a franchise D man to pair with Riso and Z, along with another high pick next year, and enough D depth and pieces to still move for high quality forwards through draft or trade. I'm not big on building from net out, however nabbing Ekblad gives us so much to work with in terms of landing McDavid or other top forwards, as well as a potential franchise d man.
-
Agreed, I've always been a big Vinny fan, for whatever reason. Get him on the top line and he'll be solid.
-
I just don't know how you can say that for sure. We've tried the 'build from the net out' and look where it's gotten us. Frankly I'd rather have an average goaltender at a low cost and focus on loading up my top 6 and third line. Of course the whole 'build from the net out' approach could be a winning strategy and we just don't have the GM to execute it. So there's always that.
-
We can all agree that it's good that he's been so consistent, however my point remains that we can still win without him because he's still been for the most part an average goaltender. I'm arguing for trading him not because he's bad, or I think Enroth is better, but because Enroth very well could settle out as an average goalie while we free up resources to throw at other positions.
-
Yes, Miller has been consistent through the years, but will point out for the most part he's been consistently average to above average compared to other goalies. I would argue that Enroth, if given enough starts, would settle out similarly as an average goalie capable of holding his own for us. Moving Miller represents freeing up cash to go out and get pieces, not that Enroth is any better than he is.

Ryan O'Reilly - Get Him At All Costs - Who Do You Trade
radiomike replied to CallawaySabres's topic in Archive
Exactly, I think O'Reilly will bring some intangibles that this team is in dire need of. It's obvious we haven't had a true heart and soul leader since '07 and frankly it's time for one. Whether it invovles Myers or not I could care less, I'm tired of being married to his potential when clearly he's got some issues. Both players arguably have room to improve, O'Reilly at least seems to be on the right track. -
Ryan O'Reilly - Get Him At All Costs - Who Do You Trade

I think it should always be a balance of the two, maintaining a decent farm system while at the same time capitalizing on organizational depth when the time is right. We all know at this point that Darcy tends to overvalue his players so making a dent in our talent pool seems to be out of the question. It's a bit baffling to think about really though, as there are more misses than hits with prospects, so the idea of selling high on a few prospects for a known talent seems to be an obvious strategy. Not with this GM though. As for toughness, we're no farther along then we have been the last few years. We need players who are tough to play against, not 'tough' players like Scott. There is a discernable difference between the two types, and DR failed in that area if you ask me. The failure falls to Ruff's feet as well by keeping Pominville as captain - good player, yes. Gritty, tough, emotional leader? No. Not that we have much of that on the team to begin with, but rolling out Mr. Nice guy who's content with hard fough losses and who never mixes it up isn't doing much to change our image. Also, Kaleta in the top 6, Hecht centering the third line, Stafford on the 4th, and Grigorenko sitting is pretty damn depressing. -
I second this if you are in the area. Abostultey fantastic. If you are in the city I would suggest Ristorante Lucano on East Ave right off of 490, it sits in a small plaza but it's a gem. Pane Vino downtown is also one of my favorites.
