Whatever McJesus did, it fit the "criteria" more than Bob's. And if it didn't, we should redefine what the "criteria" is until it does. -

"The Conn Smythe Trophy is awarded annually to the most valuable player (MVP) during the NHL’s Stanley Cup playoffs. It is named after Conn Smythe, the longtime owner, general manager, and head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Each year, at the conclusion of the final game of the Stanley Cup Final, members of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association vote to elect the player deserving of the trophy." https://thehockeywriters.com/docs/conn-smythe-trophy/ -

For games 4&5, the rest of the team took the first two periods off. Hardly an indictment of KO. FFS, I'm not even a KO fan, just being fair with what I have observed. -

This is a good move. I'm sure there's some superstition to it, like McJesus wearing the same suit. However, KO was doing some truly veteran things during a lot of his shifts. Nothing flashy, just smart, vet-minded things like going east-west across the blue line with the puck, and dumping it in after the rest of his line and the D changed. Small little things, the likes of which Florida has needed since game 4. -
So many possibilities here. First off, if the goal is garlic taste, you need to up the garlic. Second, you should consider pre-baking a bulb of garlic and then pressing the garlic goo into the sauteuse after pouring in the oil. Brown = flavour. If your garlic wasn't brown you haven't released that flavour, distinct from the kind of flavour adding minced raw garlic at the end as per @That Aud Smell's suggestion - which is a good suggestion if you want a very sophisticated garlic taste. Whoever said salt above is correct - there must be enough salt. Your nose knows: if it ain't curling your toes the right way before adding the noodles and the water, it ain't ready, or right, or both. Looks like you added double the amount of pasta water that was needed. You don't use a lot. Obviously, too much will water down the flavour you worked so hard to build up. "Copious amounts of EVOO" are not your friend when sauteing. Using a lot of oil means you then must effectively deep-fry the garlic to get the garlic where you want it. Try using just enough at first to actually caramelize the garlic, or better yet, do that first with butter. Don't hesitate to caramelize some minced onions and/or shallots along with the garlic to really add depth to your flavour - not in equal amounts, but just a little to kick it up a notch. Try. Fail. Try again. Fail again, but fail better.

Oh, you're right. My bad. That's what I get for rage posting while distracted. I meant to say you "take the L" and Doohickie can take the "doubling down" and shove them up your derrières. For posterity and clarity: My stance is we did not lose a valuable enough asset in Mitts to keep referencing him as some lost talent. Mitts is not a good enough 2C for a playoff team that wants to go deep. I watched every Colorado game after he got traded and neither did he pass the eye test or are his playoff stats compelling enough to change my mind. Using a quote by anyone in an organization is laughable; and we have litigated that kind of evidence here countless times before. However, I understand there are people here with a crush on Mitts and don't like their boy being criticized. It is okay, you are welcome to your view. It is precious, though, how some view this place as some sort of intellectual arena where "ideas" win out over others by the sheer "weight" of their foundation and the conviction of those who typed them. "ill tko your argument" tee hee. Keep playing this imaginary game if it pleases you, it is very cute on certain people (but, not you, Thorny, if I'm being honest). Finally, to close the book, Mitts is quickly become O'Reilly the Lesser. Maybe people mentioning Mitts will get temp=bans, too. -

WTF is with you people and the "stop doubling down" command. You and Thorny can shove that one way high up your arse. My viewpoint on Mitts is what it is and it's not changing because some avatars on a message board don't like it. -

That's a playoff team with high expectations, he better get 9 points in 11 games playing on the second line. And what do you expect MacKinnon to say "yeah he was okay, too bad there weren't better options at the deadline." Look at those minutes, they did not trust Mitts' line enough because that line wasn't bringing home the bacon. -

An AI could absolutely parse fancy stats and assemble a team based off of that. This is precisely what AIs were made to do.

The only thing that might work better for Skinner is nothing happening at all. The problem with that is all of the scuttlebutt over a possible buyout. A trade is the most face-saving move at this point. -

I just hope it's not a buyout. A trade makes more sense for all parties involved. -
Agree that Kocecny would be the target but I doubt they give him up. I said Tippett because he can score and quick look at stats suggests he's pretty responsible on the ice. I'm not saying I would do this, but it seems like the most probable, again, from a quick look. I don't really know Philly all too well.

Mitts did jack-all in Colorado's playoff run. Did UPL drag us into the playoffs by sheer will? No. Using either of these guys as examples of misplaced fan ire is presumptuous. -

Benson = 18y/o @ $.95m Skinner = 32y/o @ $9m Being slightly above replacement level means several different things for each. And I don't know if GAR/60 adjusts for position, so that number for Byram could be less meaningful than +/- or more meaningful than +/-.

You realize anyone can just go backwards in the thread and read what transpired. No one called your opinion "an insufferable narrative". The insufferable narrative is the one the NHL is already building up around McJesus and will inflate to truly insufferable proportions if Edmonton wins the Cup.
