GDT: Sabres @ Penguins - Nov 11, 2023 - 7:30pm, MSG/ESPN+šŗWGRš»

When Donnie Meatballs said the goalies will alternate, I donāt think Comrie was factored into the equation as he was week to week on IR at the time. Itās a two man rotation between Levi and Oopie. Edit: It seems Comrie will be returning soon, so he may very well enter into the equation at some point and the three headed goalie monster will rear itās ugly head. -

Donnie G has said that the goalies will alternate so Iād be surprised if he goes with Levi two nights in a row, especially on a back to back. -

Havenāt seen your usual prediction for the game. Do see the Sabres keeping it close and only losing by a 6-2 score, or do you think the āGuins will give us a proper drubbing? -

Clifton does not play with poise. He too often panics and makes unnecessary plays as a result, especially on clearing attempts. If he ever learns to take a beat and actually see the better play thatās available, he might turn into something. -

Please let it be Conner Clifton. Please. -

Glad we won so I wonāt bother with the things that suggest we still have a long way to go. Except to say the only time Iām not concerned when Clifton is on the ice is when heās heading towards the bench. -
Iād prefer to see Clifton sit because he makes several un-poised, unnecessary plays per game and leads the team in āown goalsā, but yeah, Joker is a defensive adventure in his own right half the time.

Isnāt this what weāve been saying all along?

Thatās all well and good, but I still donāt put any stock in it. Good (read playoff) teams usually identify themselves early on in the season anyway, so itās no surprise when they end up making the playoffs. Ironically, I can recall a time in the not so distant past when the Sabres went on a 10 game unbeaten heater, were sitting in a playoff spot on Thanksgiving, and then proceeded to screw the pooch as usual.
-
I put ZERO stock in the Thanksgiving stat. The Blues were in last place in the league in January the year they won the cup.

As the saying goes, everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. Iāll believe it when I see it.

5 points in the six games heās played, with last night the only game he didnāt find the scoresheet. Heās been paired with Kulich and Rosen and Iād say he certainly looks like he belongs.
-
Kulich is nasty.
-
Having also watched them this season, I agree entirely that heās a work in progress defensively, especially in his own end. Same with Rosen and Savoie. The young prospect with the best 200 foot game is Benson, imo.
-
You give the Sabres more credit than theyāre worthy of because I doubt they can keep it that close playing their third in four nights and the second of a back to back. Thereās always the possibility of Levi stealing one but with the bums playing in front of him, that seems like a remote possibility at best. 7-1 Leafs as Okposo scores a less than meaningless goal in the final minute to avoid the shutout. These guys have their pride, after all.
-
Thatās the stark reality, but there are many reasons to get behind and continuing to be a fan of the team as weāve been since their inception and perhaps the biggest driver of that is hope; the belief, the faith that our day will come. That is gone now. Just too tired of the lip service, the corny letters to the fans, and the sheer stupidity of it all. Lousy players, lousy coaches, and lousy management can only get you so far.
-
Damn. Another one of my suspicions confirmed. On a positive note, already sold my tix for the Bruins game at far above ticket price. Bruins fans are more than willing to shell out bucks to watch a superior hockey team. Itās kind of weird as weāve never sold our tickets before, let alone to opposing fans. And I donāt feel the least bit bad about it. As a fan since they spun the wheel for Gilbert and a STH for decades, if anyone feels the need to tell me what a disloyal fan I am, they can just go screw themselves.

Thereās always a lot of hockey left in the season with these guys. Right up until thereās no more hockey left in the season for these guys. Same sh!t, different year.
