I hope they don’t adapt at all. It’s already a farce with the over-sized equipment they get away with.

Potential injuries to Benson have far less to do with his age and size than it does with his style of play. Players who always press the action like he does are putting themselves in more situations to get hurt, regardless of size. He gets hurt less than an older big guy like Greenway does, that’s for sure.

Damn. Too many wasted chances tonight. Congrats to the Blue Jays on an amazing season.

Agree on Krebs. And Malenstyn has been solid as well in his role. Kozak makes that a quintessential NHL 4th line imo. -

I appreciate the DeLuca .500 as well as the next guy, but NHL math says if you have 50% of the available points, you are at .500. -

In the OT, yes. He was outstanding. In the shootout, three of the five Caps shooters lost control of the puck. -

Agree with all of this. As for Levi, while I don’t blame his camp if they did indeed request a trade, I don’t have a problem with how the Sabres are developing him, with the exception that they initially rushed him to the bigs. Since then, he’s on a good track. I’m struck by the similarities between he and Ryan Miller’s development curve with the Amerks. I think the job is Levi’s for good next year. That said and while I previously thought that they would keep him in the A this season unless disaster struck the Sabres, I won’t be surprised in the least if they bring him up sooner. He’s been too good to ignore in the A since last season. -

When it comes to our goalie situation, I don’t pretend at all. If Lyon was a legit starter in this league, he’d have been one a while ago. We currently have two 25 game backups and a career minor leaguer at the position. Ain’t no pretending when it comes to that hapless scenario; only delusions of grandeur for the hopeless. -

It’s not that I don’t like him, it’s that he is not the answer for a starter between the pipes and I’ve grown weary of the delusional idea by both KA and fans that he somehow is and/or could be. All because of one twenty game stretch a couple seasons ago that he hasn’t come close to replicating either before or since. We saw the same when he was with the Amerks. -

Great, Oopie back between the pipes. Lucky us. He will backstop a shutout tonight and then all his defenders will serenade all his detractors like me and shout, “See!” As if any and all criticism of UPL isn’t justified. Shutout or not, he is not now nor will he ever be a number one goalie in the show. He is a 25 game per year back up at best. At. Best. -
I believe UPL and Georgiev are short timers in this organization and I’m surprised Georgiev hasn’t been let go already. Perhaps they wanna see another strong start or two from Leinonen before waiving him. It will be interesting to see if he gets the nod tomorrow night in Laval. I think the plan for Levi is just to let him continue to cook in the A this season, regardless.

Levi stops 33 of 34 and the Amerks win 2-1 at Laval in the first of a back to back with the Rocket.

Dahlin needs to sit until he gets his head straight. He’s been less than good most of the season. -

We might have the dumbest group of players in the game. It’s one thing to not bs talented, quite another to be stupid. -
True, he may not be ready for the show, but he didn’t embarrass himself while he was here, either. You can see the talent is there. Let him cook in the A. I’d have liked to have seen Helenius replace Kozak for a look-see, but I fully understand why they decided not to.

That was fantastic to see the Jays take two of three in Chavez Ravine. What poetic justice it would be to see them chase Yamamoto and wrap it up in Toronto in game six.
-
My major concern going in was which team could chase the other’s starter and get to each other’s weak bullpen. I’m shocked but not surprised that the Jays have done just that with the exception of Yamamoto. If they chase Snell again tonight, I like their chances to win one of two back home.

Worthy would have been better under Daboll, who would have made him his gadget guy, like he did with McKensie. And much like Reid does currently. We may not care where he lines up, but OCs certainly do, as does Reid. For instance, and once again citing his off ball reliance, you seldom see him lined up at the X because he’s really not good at beating press man on the ball. He is too easily disrupted with a simple one armed chuck which is enough to throw off the timing on a play. He’s better in the slot and out of bunch formations, which Reid also recognizes. And he’s a lot more effective since Rice came back, too. We have enough slot guys as it is. Sure, it would be great to have his speed, but that in and of itself doesn’t make him a scheme fit for every offense. I agree that our receivers aren’t great at creating separation, but Allen has also missed guys when open, either with poor passes or simply not seeing them. It was glaring during the Atlanta game which I had the pleasure of seeing from on high. And I wasn’t surprised when Kubiak said as much in his Buffalo News critique afterward. It was also interesting to hear Allen speak of not trusting his feet after the Panther game, which told me his timing patterns were off. It’s easy to blame it all on the receivers and think that one small, fast guy would make it all better but I don’t think it’s that simple.
-
I’m in no way implying Coleman is better than Worthy, nor do I really care. I don’t spend a second regretting a player we never had, anyway. My only point is that the Bills and other teams had reason to take a pass on Worthy given that he is an undersized, strictly off ball receiver. As to the Brady scheme, it is diametrically opposed to Reid’s given his reliance on heavy packages and the emphasis on the run game, as borne out by the fact that we run the ball more than any other team. It is an absolute requirement that his receivers be good blockers as a result. I’m sure Brady would love nothing more than a speed burner at the X who is big and can block. Who wouldn’t?
-
The Bills, along with every other team that selected a WR before him, had good reason to pass on Worthy as he is strictly an off ball receiver and is scheme limited as a result. He is a great fit for Reid, not a great fit for us.
-
I see two reasons to discuss.

Those throwback jerseys are from their inaugural season in 1933. Apparently, there was far less fashion sense 92 years ago.
