Thanks for posting that link. It was the first chance I've had to watch the PC and I can only echo the thoughts regarding Lindy's class. His point about coaches being successful because of the players that play for them is poignant. During his two cup runs he had players that would skate through a brick wall for him. That doesn't come from the coach. It comes from the "hockey character" that a player either has or not. Unfortunately, there is very little of that on the team as currently constructed. And that has manifested on too many occasions to count. I wish Rolston all the luck in the world. But what's holding this team back simply can't be rectified with Xs and Os and pep talks. The only solution is to get the right kind of players. And that's gonna take a while to accomplish. In the meantime, I have no problem getting rid of those players that lack the character necessary and replacing them with lesser talented players that do. GO SABRES!!!

Hard to argue with that assessment. Just another euphemism for "no heart." GO SABRES!!!

I'll second that. There is not a coach in the world that is gonna make chicken salad out of this chicken schit of a roster. I feel sorry for Rolston already. GO SABRES!!! -

Not enough skill. Simple as that. I miss Connolly watching this group of AHLers. GO SABRES!!! -

And there's the late 3rd period penalty you just KNEW was coming just to kill any momentum for a comeback. Hardest Sabre team to watch since their inception. Utterly inept in nearly every phase. Rolston doesn't have a chance with these losers. GO SABRES!!! -

Sometimes you have to accept the inevitable conclusion: we are just not that skilled a team. And that is magnified when the lack of talent plays lazy. GO SABRES!!! -

Terrible work on the PK in our own end. Pommers with a lazy clearing attempt. GO SABRES!!! -

Good point. I saw a ton of the same confusion deep in our D end as I've been seeing all season. Miller with some huge saves to keep it close. Likewise Scrivens. GO SABRES!!! -

Yeah, the Garnish must have been glaringly taking those "rest breaks" during shifts that Rolston saw on the tapes. GO SABRES!!! -
Vanek stays. Cornerstone of the franchise. GO SABRES!!!

Excellent post. The Sabres have steadily been re-tooling for a couple seasons now. We are extremely young at the most critical offensive position. This transition will take time. But, like the Bills in the early 90s, there's great chance for them to all grow up and mature together while the rest of the team is still relatively young enough to go through the process and still have somethin left. GO SABRES!!!

Shocked but not surprised is a phrase that seems to fit this situation. GO SABRES!!!

Just like Bucky! GO SABRES!!!

Hackinatmysack is in New Jersey, right? GO SABRES!!!

So then Foligno represents that departure from the soft forwards you spoke of up thread? A skilled young player at a position of need PLUS more of a Kassian then even Kassian himself. Nice. GO SABRES!!!
-
That's the only sensible comparison that can be made. Why anyone would consider comparing centers in Buffalo's system with wingers in Vancouver's is beyond me. Foligno consisently demonstrated more of the "Koncept of Kassian" in both RaChaCha and Buffalo last year than Kassian did. End of story. Foligno made it a very easy trade to make. As for the trade itself, we got a comparably talented player at a much greater position of need at the time. And although both teams will end up benefitting from the trade, Buffalo wins on that basis alone. GO SABRES!!!

Good post. We are exactly what our record says we are. I like our chances in games we play for the full 60 minutes but it's a moot point unless there is a sense of urgency moving forward. GO SABRES!!!
-
Agreed. Not sure about our D corp, but it's clear the forward lines are starting to gel a bit. Will it be in time to make a push in a truncated season? Maybe, maybe not. It's gonna be a battle of attrition down to the wire. A five game run may be all it takes to solidify a spot as every game is virtually a 4 point game with only intra-conference games every night. Conversely, another 5 game skid takes us out of contention just as easily. GO SABRES!!!

What about the other 10 minutes? GO SABRES!!!

And from this you deduced that Regier is a dunce who doesn't know much about players across other NHL organizations? Is there a chance Darcy knows about some players you've never heard of? GO SABRES!!!
-
Are we to believe that you intimately discussed "players in organizations across the NHL" on those various occasions you spoke with Darcy? GO SABRES!!!
-
Very well stated. Hope that wasn't too apologist of a position. GO SABRES!!!
-
Exactly. Without direct quotes, it's just innuendo. If Bucky actually had "sources" he'd do the same thing. Like a trained journalist does. But he either doesn't have the sources he claims or his sources don't respect him enough to allow him to quote them. Either way, he comes across as an amateur who is hard to take seriously. GO SABRES!!!
