That's a great question. It was obvious from the first game of the year when Fitz triple-hitched an out pass, that he was NOT comfortable at all. Nobody triple-hitches an out pass. Ever. Not even in high school. Fitz was thinking way too much and the game never seemed to come to him as a result. GO BILLS!!!

Like Fox News and Rush Limbaugh. What else does a former UCLA Poli-Sci student need nowadays?

Unlike your talking points, history predates Fox News and Rush Limbaugh. Read a book. History lesson and feeding time for the troll are now concluded.

If nothing is done by the 1st, taxes will go up for everybody. Any deal reached afterward will be retroactive if Congress says it is and they will. I firmly believe any deal will mean no tax raise for the lower 98%. So even if the deal takes a few months, your 2013 taxes will be unaffected. Voila! The bigger issue will be the bullschit games the Repubs play with the debt ceiling.

Pure holiday gold, I tell ya. Pure holiday gold. GO SABRES!!!

They wrote the book on it.

I might have to resort to a 2-ply brand as opposed to the regular 3-ply cushion my ass is accustomed to. This is the result of prosecuting two wars AND lowering taxes. We were never asked to sacrifice, unlike in previous generations. Instead we were encouraged to go shopping. Time to pay the piper, folks. Oh, and ANY deal that is eventually reached, even if after 1/1/2013, will be retroactive and most of the 98% of us won't pay ANY additional taxes. Good ole Rupert. Trying to scare people as usual.

Just when I thought I was all cried out.

Seriously. Worst explanation of a busted play I've ever heard. Apparently the call was for a Spiller run but the safety had cheated up to take that away and Fitz didn't want to risk a loss on the play OR call a timeout, so he kept it. Safety is the QB's first read on every play and if he was cheating up Fitz should have easily audibled to another play. From what I saw, he didn't even look at the safety. He just took the snap and lunged for a couple. Chan didn't know that SJ had gotten the first down on the previous play. He came down with the ball right at the marker but still. The refs called a first down. Unreal. GO BILLS!!!

At 15-31 after yesterday's game, I think it's safe to say the curtain will be drawn on the Gailey/Fitz era once the final gun goes off against the Jets in the season's last game. It's simply an untenable situation from a marketing standpoint. It isn't the losing season so much as it is the fashion in which they've lost. There has been open frustration by SJ and others all season long and it's way past festering. They ran for the bus at the first sign of adversity yesterday. In a word, they've stopped playing for Gailey. I wouldn't be surprised if Gailey resigned due to health reasons. He's had heart issues before and it's obvious this is weighing on him. I think he takes the losing very personally and he looks weary and often times lost on the sidelines. That 1st down QB sneak yesterday? I don't buy for a second it was a busted play that Fitz thought would have no chance against a S cheating up to stop Spiller. The coach didn't know what down it was. Makes me wonder about other things as well. Thank you, Chan Gailey, for your service. Wish it could have been better for all of us. I'll look forward to watching Fitz be the backup QB in his home state of Arizona next year. Great guy, great teammate. I wish him well. But it's over in Buffalo. GO BILLS!!!

Wrong forum. Wrong website. Wrong period.

That's because you guys get paid by the word. I don't buy any of that "billable hours" crap. Is it by syllable, sentence, or paragraph? GO SABRES!!!

I can foresee a day when authorities, perhaps not yet created, will mine social websites for comments like this and unsuspecting subscribers will be subject to additional scrutiny as a result. I wish I had advice for you as an uncle. Just let him know you're there for him. Most teens come through these transformational years a bit wiser for the experience. If there is a change in behavior that accompanies the dramatic teen-angst driven rhetoric, you'll know it's more serious and you'll know what to do as a loving relative. Trust yourself.

The idea that this isn't political is naive. Public safety, as it relates to the citizenry is, by definition, political. Having the discussion is not disrespecting those who perished today. Not at all. Indeed, having the discussion is a very important process for us to engage in. On many levels. Not the least of which is that it helps us to deal with our grief.

Every parent's worst nightmare realized. This one hits home unlike any others. My prayers go out to all the families touched by this senseless tragedy. God knows what those little ones witnessed in those moments of horror as they were led out of the school and asked to close their eyes. Good idea, Chris in Utah. We should all hug our children extra tight today.

Good question. I guess that will be up to the individual fan to decide. But that asterisk will always be there. GO SABRES!!!

Definitely some confusion. I completely misunderstood your post. My apologies. If I recall correctly, AMC ran them in the correct order, I, II, and (unfortunately) III. The story just wouldn't make sense otherwise.
-
If I hadn't read the book, I think I could better understand this point of view. But both movies mirror the book in such a way that it can only make sense to show them in the order they were produced. I think Michael's fall from grace is well established in Part 1. The contrast between his innocence in the opening wedding scene and him sitting at the desk while Clemenza kisses his ring in the final scene really drives that home. In Part 2, Michael is already well established as a Mafia kingpin. The juxtaposition of Vito's own fall from innocence and rise to power with Michael's continued struggle with it and what it's cost him is great storytelling. Vito's rise protected his family, Michael's destroyed it. If only AMC would skip Part 3, I'd be happy. The entire story was told by Puzo in his book. Aside from a money-grab, I don't see why they ever made the third movie.

Great post. The one thing we'll never know is how Chan could have fared with a QB that allowed him to use the entire playbook and the entire field. Fitz is just to easy too defend. But I honestly don't see a ready solution either in the draft or FAgency to address QB in time for next year. That said, the biggest problem this year and what's most responsible for digging a hole we couldn't get out of, is our defense. In a word, it is slow. Especially at LB. None are starting caliber and I doubt they ever will be. SS has been a mess all year and we're still looking for a decent number 2 CB. GO BILLS!!!

Those are your exact words. Are you going to tell me you meant "idiotic, lazy, uninformed" in a non-pejorative way? I don't buy that for a second. A few select idiots? That's funny because I don't recall Akins and Mourdock adopting the official Republican party platform all by themselves during their national convention in Tampa. More importantly I don't recall a single "non-moron" speaking out against that platform at any time before the election, either. Certainly not Romney and Ryan. I'm glad you know so many smart, successful women that aren't beholden to the Democratic message of gender stereotypes. Too bad they don't know that it's their own party that created those stereotypes in the first place. And given Romney's disdain for the "47 percent" I think you're a bit of a hypocrite to accuse anyone else of being beholden to stereotypes.

Looks like you nailed it with this post. GO SABRES!!!

Save your breath. We're all just idiotic, lazy, and uninformed voters. Never mind that he can't tell the difference between which party officially adopted policies that don't appeal to a large segment of single women, otherwise known as the electorate, and which party exploited that position as a political strategy. The Republican party made it too easy for the Democratic party; all they had to do was refer to the official Republican platform adopted at their convention and play comments from Akins and Mourdock in the background. And also never mind that he completely ignores the most prominent campaign message uttered by Obama the entire time: lower taxes on the middle class, higher taxes on the upper two percent. To suggest Obama voters ignored that is an insult. Then again, he has no trouble insulting people who didn't vote the same way he did.
