  1. Shocked but not surprised is a phrase that seems to fit this situation. GO SABRES!!!
  2. Just like Bucky! GO SABRES!!!
  3. Hackinatmysack is in New Jersey, right? GO SABRES!!!
  4. So then Foligno represents that departure from the soft forwards you spoke of up thread? A skilled young player at a position of need PLUS more of a Kassian then even Kassian himself. Nice. GO SABRES!!!
  5. That's the only sensible comparison that can be made. Why anyone would consider comparing centers in Buffalo's system with wingers in Vancouver's is beyond me. Foligno consisently demonstrated more of the "Koncept of Kassian" in both RaChaCha and Buffalo last year than Kassian did. End of story. Foligno made it a very easy trade to make. As for the trade itself, we got a comparably talented player at a much greater position of need at the time. And although both teams will end up benefitting from the trade, Buffalo wins on that basis alone. GO SABRES!!!
  6. Good post. We are exactly what our record says we are. I like our chances in games we play for the full 60 minutes but it's a moot point unless there is a sense of urgency moving forward. GO SABRES!!!
  7. Agreed. Not sure about our D corp, but it's clear the forward lines are starting to gel a bit. Will it be in time to make a push in a truncated season? Maybe, maybe not. It's gonna be a battle of attrition down to the wire. A five game run may be all it takes to solidify a spot as every game is virtually a 4 point game with only intra-conference games every night. Conversely, another 5 game skid takes us out of contention just as easily. GO SABRES!!!
  8. What about the other 10 minutes? GO SABRES!!!
  9. And from this you deduced that Regier is a dunce who doesn't know much about players across other NHL organizations? Is there a chance Darcy knows about some players you've never heard of? GO SABRES!!!
  10. Are we to believe that you intimately discussed "players in organizations across the NHL" on those various occasions you spoke with Darcy? GO SABRES!!!
  11. Very well stated. Hope that wasn't too apologist of a position. GO SABRES!!!
  12. Exactly. Without direct quotes, it's just innuendo. If Bucky actually had "sources" he'd do the same thing. Like a trained journalist does. But he either doesn't have the sources he claims or his sources don't respect him enough to allow him to quote them. Either way, he comes across as an amateur who is hard to take seriously. GO SABRES!!!
  13. Innuendo twice removed. Nice work, Bucky. Anonymous sources, my a$$. GO SABRES!!!
  14. Nothing unthinkable about the "quotes" at all. Except they aren't quotes. A good journalist worth his salt who has good, solid relationships with his sources should be able to quote them anonymously. Bucky chose not to do so. It's not his opinion that I question, it's his journalistic integrity and skill. GO SABRES!!!
  15. Let me guess. You're one of Bucky's anonymous sources. GO SABRES!!!
  16. If you ask 10 different journalists what "off the record" means, you would get 10 different responses. The meaning would range anywhere between "never use the information in an article" to "use it only if you have express permission to do so." For that reason alone the term should be banned. In this particular case, because the article is an editorial piece rather than an expose, I would think it's perfectly OK to use the information provided by the source. A direct quote would provide more credibility and Bucky needs all he can get. I've heard that from several media critics. GO SABRES!!!
  17. Definitely the paraphrasing. At best, it reeks of something he happened to overhear by accident vs. a solid quote from a true source. I expect more rather than the yellow "some people are saying..." crap that passes for journalistic integrity these days. And as an opinion writer in this case, there is no need to for this type of embellishment anyway. It reeks of insecurity as well. GO SABRES!!! Anybody that has resorted to parking his car in a certain spot on a bridge in Pennsylvania in order to receive the Sabres radio broadcast would seem to be safe to classify as a "serious" Sabres fan. GO SABRES!!!
  18. No doubt. But anonymous sources are routinely quoted verbatim. Bucky needs to quote them or be suspected of making stuff up. I've heard from certain members of the Pulitzer Prize voting committee that Bucky Gleason is a laughing stock and routinely mocked for his amateurish attempts at journalism. Sorry, but I'm not going to name my sources. GO SABRES!!!
  19. That's why Bucky's column is bullschit. Quote your sources or don't bother referencing their input. It's amateurish at best. GO SABRES!!!
  20. Bucky may be 100% right (or not as it's a matter of opinion) but his mention of "anonymous" sources to bolster his point is total bullschit and just underscores what kind of pu$$y "journalist" he really is. Bucky really needs to grow a pair. GO SABRES!!!
  21. Don't hold your breath. Natural gas, like other fossil fuel commodities, is priced on a global basis. US oil production grew faster in 2012 than in any time in history and is set to surge even more, and we haven't seen any pricing benefit from that. And we aren't likely to, either. GO SABRES!!!
  22. Yep. Tired team skating in mud. GO SABRES!!!
  23. Stafford back to being a garnish. But Ennis was a sizzling piece of steak in the latter part of last season so maybe he's the garnish now and Stafford shouldn't even be on the plate. GO SABRES!!!
  24. Nothing like following up a great come from behind effort with an effort from the behind. Looked, played, and smelled like A$$ in that period. The maturity level on this team is once again lacking. They spent all day telling themselves how good they were from what I can see. GO SABRES!!!
  25. There is no correlation to between what a team spends on players and how good they are. GO SABRES!!!
