  1. You watch too much tv, too. When you're not googleing that is. What happens if you google from your TV? Is that like crossing the streams? Does your head explode? Or only the heads of those you imagine are hurling insults?
  2. You are seriously deranged. I said the NIH and NIAID suffered setbacks to their various programs due to budget cuts. Period. Your partisan nerve took that as an insult. I'm not surprised. Now, back to your google.
  3. Indeed, bio. Those cuts have hurt research funding across the board as you are probably well aware. Our friend takes EVERYTHING as a partisan insult and can't hit the google and wiki pages fast enough to "fill us in" on the facts.
  4. Are you really denigrating the remarkable successes of previously government funded medical research and breakthroughs? Not only here, but around the world? You know, sometimes "the market" just isn't interested in carrying that torch because there is just no profit in it.
  5. While this is promising news, let's not forget the several other vaccine programs that were canceled due to congressional budget cuts. NIH and NIAID would be much farther along if not for those cuts.
  6. Normally, I'd agree, but when you have the goal differential we have, being even is amazing. Quite a feat, actually. GO SABRES!!!
  7. He doesn't HAVE to know the first thing about virology. Nor the 2nd or 3rd things. He needs to know the first thing about coordinating and organizing the plenty that do. Big difference.
  8. Sorry, Ghost. I honestly have no idea WTF you are talking about here. But good luck with it, whatever it is. GO SABRES!!!
  9. How soon until TM fires TN? I don't think he survives a bad road trip. This team looks to have quit on their coach. GO SABRES!!!
  10. ^This. You need a guy who can organize the various entities across a wide spectrum. He doesn't need to be an MD to accomplish that. Not at all. I think there are more benefits to this person being a NON medical professional, actually. There's a reason why the person tabbed to put together the Manhattan Project didn't need to be a physicist or some other kind of scientist, either. He just needed to be able to bring many people from disparate backgrounds together and keep them focused on the task at hand over an extended period of time.
  11. If Ted Nolan was so unhappy about the PLF situation, if his sense of honor so insulted, he should have had the integrity to walk away instead of compromising his "principles" and accepting a lucrative coaching offer with a team he KNEW wasn't loaded with talent. Teddy was wrong to throw his team under the bus, no matter how much we agree with it. And it were MY team, I'd have no problem telling him that. I think I've overrated his ability as a coach. If his strength is motivation, then he has failed miserably. Which is a shame because he wouldn't know an X from an O on the whiteboard. Teddy can feel free to leave any time he wants and that would be OK by this fan. GO SABRES!!!
  12. Teddy is out of his depth with no clue on how to manage a bad roster. Then again, there's not much you can do with a bad roster except re-arrange bad parts from time to time. I honestly don't think he'll finish the year here. GO SABRES!!!
  13. Detroit, perhaps the best organization at recognizing talent, sees it as well. GO BILLS!!!
  14. Why? Were these doctor's and nurses presenting symptoms at the time they were being kissed and hugged?
  15. It's much more effective when a team chooses to lose it's first 30 games. Far less obvious. The Sabres are crafty that way. GO SABRES!!!
  16. I too believe in the power of the circle, which is the shape of a drum, which is what my head feels like after beating it against the great wall called sabrehockey, an ancient native word meaning "he who is a glutton for punishment." GO BILLS!!!
  17. What's a tank commander to do? GO SABRES!!!
  18. Too much east/west from the box to the bench. Not enough north/south like Nolan likes it. GO SABRES!!!
  19. It was natural for him to be a little awestruck to start the year. He seemed to gain confidence as the Chicago game progressed. I agree with you; seems the game is slowing down a little for him. And that is a good sign. Perhaps the best sign. GO SABRES!!!
  20. Mike Weber is grateful. GO SABRES!!!
  21. Me, too. He's sound positionally and is crafty with the puck. Just a matter of time. GO SABRES!!!
  22. We need 22 others just like him. What he has simply can't be taught. GO SABRES!!!
  23. Love how he "boxed out" the last defender while positioning himself for the shot. That was amazing situational awareness and body control. GO SABRES!!!
  24. I gotta think that's exactly what the front office and coaching staff needs to see as well. If they can find those players that sell out in spite of knowing they aren't heading for winning season, then they'll know who they have when they ARE competing for the playoffs and beyond. I think the "glue guys" like Gionta, Gorges, Cordy Mac, etc. are here for the next several years. Outside of the young players you mentioned and them, the buzz word is "roster turnover." GO SABRES!!! Got that right. I ask myself, is there anyone else on this team that's willing to throw his body in front of shots when down by 10 goals in the 3rd period? I doubt it. Now, if he starts tossing the boom box out of the locker room after losses a la Drury... As for the system, Benedict captured it perfectly in a post up thread. GO SABRES!!!
  25. With the occasionial east to west crossover from the penalty box to the bench. GO SABRES!!!
