It’s worth noting that before he was the LBs coach, he worked extensively with the secondary with a strong focus on the safety position. All the DBs have spoken highly of him, especially Hyde and Poyer, who attribute much of their success to Babich. He learned at the feet of his dad, a long time defensive coach with in the league, and has a solid understanding of the game. It’s his time and I’m not surprised McD gave him the reins.

Illicit and nefarious are words that come to mind.

Donald J Trump, your thoughts on his Presidency
K-9 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
I don’t think Trump is cognitively impaired so much as I think he’s always been a fascist like his father before him. A little sampling from earlier today: https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/trump-fascism-qanon-truth-social-posting-spree-1235089984/ I consider anyone who is ok with this line of thinking is a traitor to our nation, a clear and present danger to our Constitution, and an existential threat to our democracy. -
Didn’t see Dorian Williams take one bad angle tonight. First time I can say that about him. It’s a start.
-
Dorian Williams started two games last season and looked lost in both. And even with the LB injuries that decimated our defense vs KC in the playoffs, he could only be trusted to play six snaps in the game. A great athlete but is too often clueless on the field. He is easily fooled by play fakes and doesn’t understand angles. And if that long pass to Kmet last Saturday is any indication, he is still a major liability in pass defense and that is an essential requirement for LBs in McD’s defense. I hope he catches on quickly, otherwise he won’t be starting for long.

Her and countless others. Fascists are nothing new in America; been here since our inception. But recent SCOTUS decisions have paved the way for their power grab; especially the Citizens United, immunity, and bribery decisions. Those decisions coupled with their 2013 decision to roll back voting rights protections have made it more difficult to keep them from gaining power. Throw in a certified narcissistic lunatic as their water boy and, well, here we are.

So Gorsuch goes on Fox news and warns us to “be careful.” Or what, Neil? Pardon me if I find your statements about the importance of an “independent court” beyond hypocritical. You, Alito, Thomas (and I suspect Kavanaugh until he tells us who paid off his huge student loans) are bought and paid for by the billionaires who’ve lavished you with gifts and whose interests have been involved in cases heard before this court. This SCOTUS is as corrupt AF so it’s no wonder its recent ruling says that if an elected official accepts a gift before the act, it’s a bribe but if accepted after the act it’s a gratuity. A gratuity! LMFAO! History will not be kind to these clowns.

It’s also a Sanskrit meaning lotus, signifying purity, rebirth, and strength. -
Jack Quinn, what is your expectation for his 2024 season?

Yeah, with mononucleosis. Hardly counts as an injury as much as it does just plain bad luck. -

I can appreciate this line of thinking, but I think the far right extremists in both houses would never be convinced when their goal is to break the government. -

I wish I felt as confident that our country will be so much better off when he’s gone, but Trump is just a symptom. The fascists behind him aren’t going anywhere soon and we will need to pass new laws to build better constitutional protections against them. And even then, we are stuck with a corrupt SCOTUS who care little about the Constitution and precedent. -
It will look like this:
-
Not fixated in the least and certainly not on why you are anyone else didn’t have him as your 1st choice. There are a myriad of reasons someone might nit and that’s totally understandable and just fine by me. I’m merely relaying what I was told not long after that draft by two GMs I’ve known since they were kids running around the building as well as a couple of scouts. That made it easy to ignore the artificial narrative about “<60% completion rate” and “mechanical issues”, both of which were not of much concern. Allen almost came out after his 2016 season and he would have been a high draft pick in the 2017 draft as well. As raw as he may have been, his talent was readily apparent and it just couldn’t be ignored. Talent evaluators understood that very early on. Anyway, it’s water long under the bridge and we’re all happy about Josh now.
-
To me, “incredibly raw” means having little understanding/aptitude of/for the position as well as the relative inexperience in playing it. As I alluded to previously, Allen’s understanding and mental grasp of the job greatly impressed people. His mechanical issues weren’t a great concern, but his dedication to improving them nonetheless is impressive as he continues to work on them in the offseason, especially his work with Biometric to digitally map and improve the efficiency of his throwing motion. Since Mayfield was long gone by the time our pick came around, did you prefer drafting another position with the 7th pick?
-
We were at 12 to start the day after originally trading up to 12 from 21 with the Bengals. We got to 7 after trading with Tampa. Beane wove some magic in that draft.
-
The plan was to let him carry a clipboard for a year while gaining insight from Daboll and the rest of the new offensive coaches on the staff. But as Beane said, AJ McCarron wasn’t who they thought he was, Peterman was a train wreck, and they had little other choice than to let him learn under fire. May have been the best thing to happen to him. And while he was inexperienced, his football aptitude tested off the charts (Daboll said he never saw a prospect like him when it came to his interviews, ability to diagnose plays, and recall) so I’m not sure he was “incredibly raw” so much as not having as much experience at the position as other first round QB prospects. Who did you prefer with that 7th overall pick instead?
-
There was never a question in the scouting community. He was projected to be a high first round pick after his 2016 college season, with some scouts thinking he might have been the first QB taken in the 2017 draft had he elected to come out then. It was the talking heads who created an artificial narrative about “accuracy” after his last year in school that gave rise to “questions” but, again, GMs, scouts, coaches etc. never had them. Their main concern was his sheer inexperience at the position.

Sounds like they might be installing cheaper, lower quality brakes and/or pads.

I’m free climbing that hill as well. Quinn will be a star in this league.

More than a few constitutional hoops to jump thru, but he certainly has the corrupt, radical SCOTUS to help pave the way. Welcome to 1930s Europe. -
Regarding Benson, it isn’t just his hockey IQ that allows him to compete with bigger players, it’s his actual short stature that works to his advantage. He won numerous puck battles along the boards because he knows how to leverage his size against bigger opponents. Sure, he gets knocked on his butt a few times here and there, but he wins puck battles far more often than not.
