This is where I'm confused. I was under the impression that non citizens are only guaranteed the right of due process. I'm not certain they hold all rights conferred by the Bill of Rights. I'll have to do some research.
-
14th Amendment? Makes sense and I agree. But that never stopped a bunch of bigoted xenophobes in positions of power, key positions, from rigging the game.
-
My biggest worry is that, feeling the pressure of having an offense that is DOA, they will rush Eichel back and put pressure on him to produce immediately. It's gonna take him the better part of a month of playing before he gets his game back in form and that's assuming no setbacks with the high ankle sprain. We have to resist the temptation to rush him. Same with O'Reilly.
-
Devil's advocate here, counselor: if it pertains to non-citizens not afforded constitutional protections, what's the legal argument against it?
-
It's as un-American as it gets. But fear is a great way of controlling people as we've learned from history.

Are you implying that pork barrel spending is more of a democratic party ideal? Because it isn't. If there is one thing that's ALWAYS been bipartisan, it's pork. Speaking of which: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/11/17/earmarks-are-good-earmarks-work-congress-should-bring-them-back/

Obama isn't the cause of the protester's concerns. The onus is on Trump in this situation.
-
KellyAnne Conway and others in Trump's circle would do better than criticize protesters exercising their rights by perhaps reaching out and making attempts at unifying a fractured country. But why do I get the impression they just don't give a schit?

High level directors, yes. Not so much in the rank and file, which is where it was reported last week that more resignations would occur. I'm hoping it was just heated rhetoric at the time and that these experienced people stay on the job, but it was said that this level of consternation was rare.
-
I thought it was pre-law. Then again, what's the difference?
-
I don't think Trump made many friends in the intelligence community over the course of his campaign and especially when he started receiving actual briefings. There were reports last week that these resignations would be forthcoming and so there will probably be more to follow. Continuity in the intelligence community over the course of transitioning administrations is usually something taken at par. This is just not a healthy thing. And why was Trump insisting that his son in law be granted a top secret security clearance to sit in on security meetings? That is bizarre.

I've never met your dad, but I already know I'd love to have a beer with him.

Intercourse pretzels? That's what the Kama Sutra is for. Good post. The conservative heroes of my youth wouldn't recognize most of today's neo-conservatives as one of their own. Good point. Words in their political context evolve. There was a time when the democratic party was all about less government and the republican party was the left wing upstart challenging the status quo. We all should be more careful when throwing around phrases like "party of Lincoln" or holding up Dixiecrats as the model of the democratic party.

I laughed my ass off ...until I cried. Oh, and Okposo on defense dramatically increases the chances that our D corp scores a goal. Or not.

So, the remedy to an America that's too liberal for you, the tonic to cure that ill is: elect a bigoted, racist, misogynistic pu$$y grabber as president. Well done.
-
I didn't need one article in the media to convince me of Trump's racism, bigotry, and misogyny; he did that all on his own with his own rhetoric. It's not like anyone in the media made him say and do any of those things. But because they report it they created it? Is that what you're implying? And I don't see how "liberalism", whatever that really is, is running rampant in a country that has rolled back key elements of the Voting Rights Act, given us the Citizens United decision and has slowly eroded our privacy with an ever expanding Patriot Act. But those are discussions for another time.
-
Just to be clear, this isn't about whether or not voters were racists. It's about Trump's blatant racist, bigoted rhetoric for the last year and a half not being a factor in favor of those "other issues" you alluded to earlier. It's an interesting phenomenon. We know that racism/bigotry is "getting old" for you; it's one of your go to rants. But your denial doesn't make it any less "old" for the millions of people affected by it on a day to day basis. You may want to plug your ears and shield your eyes because I suspect it's going to keep coming to a head in this country, especially now.
-
It's not hard to accept. It's hard to EXPLAIN. And I'm curious about how far we are willing to overlook things in favor of more important "issues." Racist, bigoted, sexually abusing pu$$y grabbing misogynist is OK in favor of lower taxes. What's next on that sliding scale before we are offended enough? Is child molester OK in favor of better immigration control? How about ax murderer in favor of destroying ISIS?
-
Well that sucks. I'm taking my son to the Flames game next week and was hoping to see him.
-
I'll be more specific; I'm amazed that so many Trump voters were willing to give him a pass on his bigotry and racism. He was the only one running for the office spewing that crap so that specific character flaw is his and his alone.
-
Did his campaign rhetoric and the base appeals within it suggest anything else? I'm surprised by the unanimity of view that just tosses aside his words as mere campaigning. If he ISN'T what he appeared to be the last year and a half, then he is the biggest bullschitter to have ever run for the office, by a wide margin. On either front, his character comes up short. I'm also amazed at how those who voted for him think that's just fine. EDIT: And I'm plenty tolerant of the Amish. I'm just trying to save you the trouble of him telling you the same thing I did.
-
Such a small percentage of Amish ever vote and when they do it's usually over a local land use issue. They willfully choose to exempt themselves from the material kingdom and its political processes. Perhaps it would be better to forward that email to a group that cares about our politics and has actually had their rights pissed on by the federal government.
-
You forgot a scary Pence moment; the one where he sought to "redefine" rape so as to try to limit federal funds available for abortions. He is an evangelical nut job of the highest order. One heart beat away.
-
That's true. But it's not irrelevant in how it informs.
-
We tend to live in the anti-verse when it comes to propaganda. There can be no positive connotation to any word used to describe the opposing party. None. And it's the height of insecurity. Progressive ideas are better than regressive ideas, period. Whether a "liberal" or "conservative" offers them up really doesn't matter. And it is the democratic party, no matter how hard the those in the republic party try to marginalize the term.
