We sit three rows up next to the bench and he spent a LOT of time wincing last night. Usually, he's a carefree chatterbox, but he was definitely distracted by something last night. Gotta be his ankle and/or his hip which got hurt vs. the Caps.
-
Georges was paired with Franson in his last couple games before injury, no? Perhaps DD saw the light.
-
No worries. Hope your week lightens up a bit.

Same here. Gutsy performance last night when it would have been so much easier to pack it in for the evening. Lots of grimaces on that bench after the first.
-
I was being sarcastic. No need to make it a big deal. My apologies for upsetting you. Jack was not himself on the ice OR on the bench last night and it was noticeable. I'd be frustrated, too, knowing I have an injury that is going to linger all season and feeling I could be a bigger difference maker otherwise.

I was being sarcastic. Unlike some who actually diagnosed Marfan's.

Back to backs are one thing, but they are REALLY hard when the second of the back to back is also the 3rd in four nights and there is late night travel involved. This team was gassed tonight after giving a good effort in the 1st and a rested Edmonton is built to wear down tired opponents. I didn't see us winning this game and we were lucky we did. A couple observations from the game: Eichel should not be playing. He is simply not the same player and it was most noticeable in person. He was terrible. I wonder if he doesn't have ADHD sometimes by the way he seems to lose focus on the ice. He couldn't bear down worth a crap tonight. We sit three rows up next to the Sabres bench and from that vantage point, McDavid was the fastest player I've ever seen. I didn't think it was possible for a human being to move that fast on skates.
-
Haha. It's like reading a Dr. Zeus book to your kids and then you spend the rest of the day thinking and talking in that meter.
-
No, because Eichel is a liability at the moment with his less than full skating explosion. I'd try to get ROR against McDavid and make him work defensively. The Eichel line is a disaster in their own zone.
-
IIRC, that combination played great for us last year; flat out dominated and controlled games. I'd like to see it again, but where does Gionta go in this scenario?
-
Never thought I'd say this: "Jack Eichel, liability." Tomorrow has the makings of the ugliest game of the year, the perfect storm of negatives about facing the fastest team in the league. Gonna be Fugly with a capital F.

That's why Larsson was offsides, too. Risto got ZERO pace on the clear-in attempt.
-
Good take and I appreciate the perspective. It's helpful.

Wasn't even a trip. My barometer is how would I feel if they called that against one of our players and I wouldn't have liked it. Marchand is a douche nozzle to be sure, but that was a good non call.
-
I'm not eager to test any theory in the second of back to backs and the third in four days. I'm already spotting Edmonton 2 goals before we even realize we are in a game Tuesday.
-
We seemed to fight the puck all game today; just never got comfortable it seemed.

I don't think that's crazy given how DD mixes things up like he's done the last couple of games. He stays with his pairs and likes to rotate third wingers up and down the lines, except for the Larsson checking line. They aren't necessarily promotions or demotions, imo, just a way for DD to alter his balance over the course of a game. It worked the other night, that's for sure.

I like the fact that Jack flies under the radar up there. I think it motivates him somehow. Just a shame he got hurt because after watching that "Day in the Life" video in the Eichel scrapbook thread, I'm convinced he busted his ass to have a good year. He had a decent World Cup and was riding that momentum in the preseason, too. It's gonna be fun watching him make up for lost time. Now, if I can just stop worrying about that high ankle.

This is the most precise scoring prediction I've ever seen. If this comes to fruition, or even close, I will be contacting you for lottery insight. Thanks in advance.

GMTM said yesterday Kulikov was day to day and has been skating on his own. He said next step would be a morning skate and then a practice.

Eichel turning into a superstar right in front of our eyes...

I thought Gionta was the guy between Samson and ROR. -

That is funny! Who's the guy between Foligno and Moulson?
