  1. Certainly off to a much better start than anyone predicted, but I have to see how a team handles adversity to really get a sense of how good they are. How this team responds to a two game slide, for instance. Recent teams allowed things to spiral out of control and I’m curious to see if it can be avoided with this group.
  2. Given his apparent stance on the matter to date, I don’t think KA feels any pressure at all; not one iota. Really, the only person who can exert any pressure on Adams is his boss. And if Terry grows tired of paying Eichel to do nothing, then I can see him pressuring KA to make a deal happen but, given how long this saga has gone on, I get the impression Pegula isn’t about to start.
  3. It’s like when the snail climbs on the turtle’s back and yells, “Weeeeee!”
  4. If that’s the case, then I’m happy to admit I’m wrong. I haven’t seen the original quote after all, so I may be way out of line. It’s just that given Friedman’s blatant shilling in the Eichel saga, I have to question his journalistic integrity.
  5. You will be glad to eat those words about Cozens in the very near future.
  6. So the team sarcastically placed “stepped aside” in the quotes? Really? In this case the quotation marks absolutely point to sarcasm, regardless if it was the original team quote or Friedman’s embellishment. There is simply no need for them otherwise.
  7. Did the team also put stepped aside in quotes as well? If not, then Friedman didn’t really say exactly what the team said, imo. The quotation marks change the entire context of the team’s statement. Why the gratuitous quote marks from Friedman? Does he have such contempt for his readers that he doesn’t think we’re smart enough to read between the lines ourselves?
  8. I’d be interested in how much, if any, the Sabres flipped the script in the 3rd. Are those period by period breakdowns available?
  9. I’ve never seen an empty netter scored from farther away. From the end line where it meets the corner boards? Ridiculous. Does Donny give them carte blanche to just let it fly from your own zone when the opposing goalie is pulled? Between Alsplund’s EN goal earlier in the season and Hagg’s last night, it appears so.
  10. Burrow is the real deal and its been apparent since his first snap in the league. He reads defenses like he’s already been in the league for a long time. The AFC north will be a battle of attrition I think. Yep. Just ask Drew Bledsoe. Talk about getting Wally Pipped!
  11. Thanks for that. I particularly liked what Appert had to say about Quinn being able to drive a line from the wing. Brought to mind a recently departed player now down in Florida.
  12. I wish I could agree, but I cant. DD is terrible on TV, but at least your eyes can auto correct as he fails to adequately describe the action. And on radio? The listener is absolutely lost with regard to the action on the ice. He may as well not even be there.
  13. Well, they called the New Jersey game from Highmark Stadium on Saturday night so ya never know.
  14. Is there room for Cathal Kelly on @Hoss’s teeter totter?
  15. Yeah, that pairing has been a surprise. And it was funny to hear Hinostroza refer to Pysck as “Pisser” in his post game presser last night.
  16. I’m quite familiar with where my “ire” should be aimed and while some copy editor may be the ultimate culprit for a botched headline, it’s still the responsibility of the media source to recognize and fix the mistake. The headline wording is irresponsible and serves to completely mislead the consumer. If you didn’t know better and only skimmed the headline, you’d think the Sabres are denying Eichel the proper treatment for his injury. And coincidence or not, that’s exactly the kind of PR Brisson and Co. seek to propagate.
  17. Is this supposed to curry my sympathy for the clueless digital producer? It doesn’t in the least. Words are important. Let me know when that media source sets the record straight.
  18. Makes perfect sense. Probably because I said out loud, “Shades of Lindy”, when he got mad tonight.
  19. “Proper procedure on herniated disc.” And the media isn’t shilling for Brisson. Right. What a disgrace.
  20. Good barometer game. We’ve got a long ways to go. 2019.
  21. Yet there is no fault on anyone’s behalf. This entire situation was brought about by an accident for crissakes.
  22. Yep. Both Cernak and Kucherov deserve sticks to the nuts for their past transgressions. Sobotka was never the same after that dirty Russian cheap shotted him.
  23. You have that completely wrong: there is no party with fault here. For many, it seems, their frustration with the situation compels them to assign blame for the situation where none exists. It’s a fascinating aspect of the human psyche.
  24. Years of poorly mismanaging their relationship with Eichel? That’s what an eight year, $80m extension is indicative of, poorly managing the relationship? You and others have to stop insisting on good guys and villains.
