Remember the deluge of daily DOGE twitter posts boasting about all their discoveries of fraud and abuse? The more they blew their own horn, the more convinced I was that they are a big nothing burger. Not only haven’t they saved much but, as in the case of the NSW, their cuts actually cost us money. I predict other cuts will end up costing us more as well.

There are articles out there about the bullcrap DOGE claims. Here’s the most recent I found. A whopping 3%. Per my previous article about the rehires at the NWS, is that there’s an additional training cost involved in terms of real dollars, not to mention the brain-drain from all the experience that is no longer there. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/doge-claims-slashing-costs-cbs-news-analysis/ And it was all predicted previously. Arrogant pisspots who think they know more than anyone else in the room.

Trump fires head of Labor Statistics

Also shades of Putin. And with Netanyahu making moves to fire the attorney general who is prosecuting him, we can add him to the mix as well. -
Trump fires head of Labor Statistics

The jobs report is a good tool nonetheless as it is a good gauge for indicating either headwinds or tailwinds relative to the economy and how that may impact lenders, employers, etc. Perhaps if the CES were mandatory on a federal level, the lags we see in the reporting data would be lessened, but since it relies on over 600,000 businesses and agencies nationwide to voluntarily contribute to the survey, it is inevitable that those businesses and agencies that participate may not have all the pertinent data by the first of every month. It’s a good thing that when all the data does arrive, the numbers can be adjusted to get a more detailed picture for previous months. I think it’s worth noting that individual states also conduct these surveys and they dovetail the stats compiled on the federal level as well. I can’t agree that data is simply data as different data depends on a myriad of different factors that go into its compilation and analysis. We can all agree that we don’t need a president accusing the USBLS of just making up the numbers and cooking the books. Which is exactly what would happen with a blind loyalist in charge. But it’s impossible to do, anyway, so the real worry would be those far right media outlets who don’t question anything he does, and gleefully report his made up crap, anyway. -

Talk About Dereliction Of Duty: EPA Off The Rails

Again, your argument is with the SCOTUS and Congress. And again, Whether CO2 is a pollutant or not is irrelevant to my concern that the current EPA, under this administration, is seeking to reverse established environmental protections and that is not limited to CO2 emissions. -

You asked what statute applied and I cited where the ruling on CO2 came from so your argument is with the SCOTUS and Congress because I’m not the one proclaiming CO2 as a pollutant, just that two things happened to have it classified as such: the 2007 SCOTUS ruling which said that CO2 and other greenhouse gases are considered pollutants under the Clean Air Act and the further clarification on CO2 contained in the IRA. Since CO was already classified as a pollutant in the CAA, there was no need for further clarification in the IRA. Nobody suddenly dismissed CO as an actual pollutant. Ironically, it was the EPA’s argument in that 2007 SCOTUS case that CO2 and other greenhouse gases were NOT pollutants under the CAA. Again, my main concern isn’t who classified what as a pollutant or when, it’s the fact that this administration seeks to undo important environmental protections, regardless. -

That doesn’t what? Not sure what you’re seeking to argue about here. The SCOTUS gave the EPA broad authority in that ruling and regardless, both the Clean Air Act and the Inflation Reduction Act that further defined CO2 as a pollutant were passed by Congress. But that is beside my point which is that this administration is scuttling the regulations designed to hold polluters responsible and giving them free rein to pollute. It’s a classic example of the fox being in charge of the hen house. Is car exhaust a pollutant? How about industrial runoff of chemicals into water systems? I don’t need an act of Congress to decide that for me. -

From Wiki because I don't feel like summarizing the Supreme Court ruling and/or the further clarification contained in the Inflation Reduction Act. -
Absolutely, John. Face slaps depend on proper decorum.

I’d line them up against a wall and give them each a face slap with freshly laundered white gloves.

Those corporate abusers have been and continue to be well documented over the years. And all those regulations, instigated by an activist and caring population and a media that cared about their public trust responsibilities, were on the books to keep them accountable. But they are the among GOP’s largest donors (thanks Citizens United) and this corrupt administration knows where their bread is buttered. Trump literally offered oil companies roll backs in pollution regulations and unlimited drilling on federal lands in exchange for $1b in donations to his campaign and they are just keeping their promises to the big polluters. -
Perhaps, but he can be a major contributor to this team as he continues to grow other aspects of his game. He’s the new Intangible imo.

His initial impact will be his defensive talent and tenacity. He’s already ahead of both JJ and Kulich in that department.

You Just Can’t Get This Comedy At Home

Your last sentence kind of answers your first imo, but yeah, the presidential security protocols are very strict. As they should be. Having spent nearly 30 years in the DC area, I can attest how every presidential motorcade that I witnessed shut down traffic and if you’ve ever experienced the impact on DC traffic during your morning/evening commutes, you could certainly relate. That said, in discussions I’ve had with retired Secret Service agents in the past, Trump’s frequent demands put so much more stress on local law enforcement than other presidents did in the past. Especially when his movements in and around Mara Lago are very predictable. -
A future captain.

Yep, Rousek signed a two year deal in the Swedish league. I’m not terribly surprised about Murray as he’s been at his ceiling for a while now and management may feel he is blocking other prospects at this point. Same may be true for Jobst as well.

As the old adage about golf goes, it reveals character. People in the NY area, especially, have been well acquainted with Trump’s character for decades now. When you purposely stiff thousands of contractors with the deliberate strategy to not pay them, force them to sue, and then have them settle for amounts less than what you originally contracted to pay them, word gets around. Or when you’ve declared bankruptcy a half dozen times, associate with and have Russian mobsters live in your building, and then shortly thereafter switch to an all cash business model because your credit is shot and banks refuse to issue the loans that you bragged about previously, people take notice. Remember when character was the first trait we sought in a president? It amazes me how our American electorate has changed, but it’s no surprise in the least given the media ownership laws we have here. -
Trump called out by Fed chair for lying.
K-9 replied to Demoted's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
Trump lying? Who’d have thunk it? Everyone in that administration lies with alacrity. Gabbard told a few whoppers in order to bolster the case against Obama and several former CIA and FBI operatives. Too bad that pesky bipartisan Senate committee report that Marco Rubio chaired and the Mueller report refute everything Gabbard and the ridiculous GOP House report says. -
https://www.buzzfeed.com/alexalisitza/reddit-maga-voter-needs-medicaid I said months ago that the GOP needed to understand the demographics of who benefits from Medicaid and where. Apparently, their own constituents aren’t much aware, either. It truly sucks that anyone will be getting kicked off of their vital medical insurance, but the selfishness exhibited by the particular Medicaid recipient in Iowa cited in the attached article is often too indicative. Until they came for me indeed.
