Saw this on the Stadium Wall over at TBD. Too good and had to post it here as well. Credit to Dablitzkrieg for posting it on that forum.

Ted Johnson: master prognosticator. Talk about a take that didn’t age well! 😂

So, not a top notch goalie then? Ok, here’s to hoping Adams can bring in a middling net minder then. I’m the one who suggested the 750k JAG as a way of illustrating we don’t have much more than those plus those 2nd round picks your mentioned as trade bait. Point is, I don’t think we have much to offer in the way of trade assets. And no, I’m not offering excuses. Not sure why you keep insisting on that and want to pick a fight here. I think we both agree that we want and need better goaltending next season, regardless. Have a good evening. Enjoy the Bills win over the evil empire.

I’d be happy to entertain any trade scenarios for a top notch goalie that you or anyone can offer. I honestly don’t know how often 2nd round picks can be used as trade bait for top notch goalies. Nor do I know how often a bevy of 750k jags have been used to entice a team to trade us a good goalie prospect. Again, I’m not offering any excuse for Adams; I only offer the stark reality of the situation.

Other than FA, our options are trade or draft. When I look at the roster, who do we have as a trade chip bring in a top notch goalie? I won’t even consider the draft option.

I don’t think I’m excusing Adams for anything. Merely pointing out that throwing money at a prospective free agent goalie is no guarantee that he will sign here. That’s just the reality of the situation. If Adams does pursue a goalie and that goalie spurns that pursuit, I’m not sure how that’s on Adams.

Our D is rank enough as it is.

That assumes a good goalie free agent prospect can be lured to Buffalo simply by the money. A good goalie free agent prospect stands to receive offers from several teams and the money may not be the determining factor in his decision to sign or not.

At this point, I feel if the Sabres were to get Shane Wright, then I’m gonna have a sinking feeling that they could have and should gotten someone better.

Decision making is a bigger issue with this team than lesser talent.

I’ve seen very, very little of Wright and most of that is just highlights from Frontenac games so I have no feel for him as a player. But what tiny amount I have seen leaves me underwhelmed. What am I missing here? Why all the hype?

This is not a good development. Might take meddling to entirely new levels.
