Dorsey finally got his RB wide receiver. Looking forward to Hines split out wide and seeing how defenses decide to defend him because he’s gonna be a matchup problem for LBs or safeties and Dorsey is gonna love catching defenses in unfavorable sub packages as a result. I see a lot of up tempo in the near future.

I think that’s a good comparison. If memory serves, the pre-lockout Sabres of ‘03-‘04 were among the worst teams in the league, if not the worst, the first half of that season. But they were the second best team in the league after the All Star break that year and that carried over to the ‘05-‘06 season. While this year’s squad didn’t have a year off between seasons, they have certainly carried over their great finish from last year as well. And not without a good share of adversity on the back end with half the starting D out of the lineup.

Nope. I’m simply asking how many teams have NHL quality depth in their 7 thru 9 defensemen.

They seem to be looking at specific types of RBs and since McCaffery is gone and Kamara won’t happen, I’m not sure there are any of that specific type around at the moment.

How many teams have quality D depth that goes nine Dmen deep?

Look at the 5x5 analytics cited in the OP. I want Mitts and VO to play better. Cozens has nothing to do with it. Dragging him into the discussion about Mitts and VO and their poor 5x5 play is a specious argument imo. He’s a superior 5x5 player and the analytics bear that out in striking terms. Let me know when that’s not the case. I’ll be waiting as well.

Wake me when Mitts and VO bring the 200 foot, 5x5 game on a consistent basis like Cozens does night in and night out. For every occasional gaffe by Cozens, we can cite multiple poor plays by Mitts and VO. But again, there was no need to drag Cozens into this particular discussion. He’s a superior 5x5 player on a game by game basis, while Mitts and VO leave a bit to be desired which is what the OP in the thread pointed out.

No need to bring Cozens into the conversation. Mitts and VO combined do not bring what Cozens does on a night in, night out basis.
