  1. Savoie likely spends the year in the minors.
  2. Lance drives me nuts but he has good sources. He called almost all the day one signings this year.
  3. Torts hates him and Frost. The front office disagrees or they would be already gone.
  4. Not surprisingly, this was almost my exact reaction plus I like Wahlberg but he’s at least two, if not three years away.
  5. The only thing that’s a little hinky is that Anaheim is getting killed worse then Buffalo for doing nothing so it would seem they need to acquire stars, not trade them and also, may need to take on some salary if they trade Zegras. I’ve heard Greenway mentioned as well in that regard.
  6. More and more I think it will be either a Krebs deal for Farabee or as Chad has speculated, Wahlberg and a first for Zegras. Both deals likely involve more parts but both have been whispered for awhile and someone I trust implicitly confirmed speculation on the Zegras deal. At first I wasn’t a fan but the more I think about it, both Tage and Dylan would thrive with a playmaker on one wing and Zegras, if healthy and motivated, would be close to as good as it gets. Plus two more years at $5.75M isn’t bad either.
  7. Oh they definitely stay there but I’m not sure how much time they spend discussing nickles when millions are being discussed
  8. He owns the building but it’s a Shaner Hotel Property. He’s basically the landlord. Unless they put some weird provisions in the agreement it’s not like he can just walk in a grab a room.
  9. Guess what, the easiest players to trade are the best players. If you draft the best player available regardless of size, you acquire more players other teams want thus accumulating assets needed to make your team better. It’s really not a novel concept.
  10. Their goals by period in 2022/2023 First period, for 69, against 67 Second period 106/87 Third period 103/64 Overtime 11/4
  11. New Jersey was the second worst team in the league at scoring the first goal, just a tad better then Buffalo last year.
  12. While I don’t believe any of this was motivated by money, TPEGS does not own the hotel. Shaner hotels manages the hotel and is a tenant of the HarborCenter Complex. I’m sure Sabres get huge discount but I doubt they get unlimited rooms free of charge.
  13. Yep, it actually usually helps negotiations. The team knows exactly what the player will settle for and can structure a long term deal around that number.
  14. And they might still figure out a way to pry Ehlers away from Winnipeg
  15. I believe they got someone else as well. Like we said, Savoie not well regarded
  16. Something wrong with site? Sorry for vague title
  17. Who is he supposed to be related to?
  18. I’ve said for a couple years that he wasn’t considered a top prospect and that he wasn’t held in high regard within the Sabres organization let alone the league. That doesn’t mean he can’t prove everyone wrong but Buffalo is definitely not counting on him to be a difference maker.
  19. My belief is that there are still moves to be done. A top six forward, most likely winger and a 3C center. While they haven’t been able to consummate the big deal, the teams they are talking to haven’t made their moves either. Winnipeg, for instance, still wants to move Ehlers, the only questions are 1) price now compared to what they think they can get at deadline, 2) if they are as good as they expect, do they really want to deal with it at deadline, 3) will he be a distraction 4) maybe, like last year, they come to terms on a contract and he signs for eight years. It’s all conjecture at this point. I thought they would finish the deal at the draft.
  20. The Sabres didn’t need Cozens contract to reach the floor.
  21. Have you looked at the production Florida got from their second(EROD) and third (Lindell) centers? Buffalo wants a more defensive third center and their first two to play like they did two years ago. And Cozens contract isn’t dumb. When the cap hits $100M he will either be huge value if he plays like two years ago or about right if he plays like last year.
  22. If you see Byram as a legitimate top defenseman(and I do) then you always make that trade. Plus, two things about Casey and Buffalo, 1) he probably isn’t taking that deal in Buffalo 2) they are looking for something different as far as skill set from their number three center
  23. I agree. Winnipeg supoposedly wanted Krebs, #14 plus two top prospects or one and an unprotected #1 next year, that is an awful lot for one year of Ehlers even if they threw in Iafollo.
