  1. Kasper is definitely their target. They loved him in the draft and made the trade with Ottawa specifically to get him. If Murray didn’t veto that trade, he’d be a Sabre.
  2. I’m pretty sure he was joking.
  3. Well, Buffalo can’t score on the power play and that’s the only way Detroit can, so maybe? I can almost hear the rumors… Seriously, though, it would be pretty ballsy for both teams to trade with someone that you plan on competing with for the next ????? years. Maybe KA did listen to BB.
  4. I stopped reading after Delaware North “can’t afford” The company is flush with cash reserves. They may want to sell but by no means because they can’t afford anything. The sons want their own ventures in the sports market so who knows but ability to pay will never factor in the equation.
  5. People keep bringing up the power play. It’s a thing throughout the league. Toronto is loaded with offensive talent and half their talk shows center around their terrible power play.
  6. The biggest misconception is that Terry meddles with the Sabres but not the Bills. He is just as involved with both of them. The difference is that Beane and McDermott talk to Terry, listen to his thoughts and then make the right decisions most of the time. They aren’t perfect, they make mistakes and sometimes Terry is even right. Beane, unlike KA, isn’t afraid to make mistakes and move on, to make bold decisions and to admit he isn’t always right. Adams refuses to acknowledge his errors and doesn’t have the backbone to challenge Terry. He also isn’t very good at the second part of his job, to go from accumulating assets to turning those assets into a team. I think up until the trade deadline two years ago that he was doing fine. His decisions from then on have been one mistake after another. He missed an opportunity to go for it then and now he seems petrified to make a mistake.
  7. Power could be traded in the next fifteen minutes if Buffalo wanted too. He is very highly regarded everywhere except for a small niche in this board
  8. Marek never said any of those guys were offered to Edmonton. He mentioned the first three were struggling and then added that there were whispers about Power being available but he never once said any of them were being offered up, he just threw names out there after talking about how Edmonton needed to do something but would probably wait till January/February.
  9. Someone will have to explain me how playing a lot of games in AHL helps prepare him to be a back up in the NHL. I’ve never hidden the fact that I believe development through any minor league system is old wives tale stuff, however, if you want to tell me he’s staying in the AHL till he’s ready to be a full time starter, I could at least believe there is logic to the move. Being a seldom used backup is more of a mental thing that will not he improved by a stint in the AHL.
  10. I have been trying to tell everyone this was going to be the case and all the push back about how the Sabres had to conserve cap space was just plain ridiculous.
  11. Other than the change in RFA, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing for Buffalo. If this team has room for an under 24 winger over the next four years, something went terribly.
  12. The Sabres retain the rights through the extension
  13. I am really surprised that there are people who think that player salaries have anything to do with ticket prices. Companies charge what their analyst say will maximize sales and thus revenues irrespective of any expenses.
  14. Tampa used this model pretty successfully. Drafting for skill, trading for grit has worked for multiple franchises
  15. That was a trademark of Lindy’s best teams. Other teams get back in and they responded quickly
  16. This isn’t true unless it just happened this year. Last year several teams simulcast feeds and a few no longer send their broadcasters on the road. EDIT; full disclosure, I’ve only been able to verify that LA, Carolina and Buffalo simulcast. If I find the time, ill do a little more research.
  17. My guess is that the cost of the radio would not be offset by any minimal increase in ratings.
  18. I read somewhere that even the manufacturer was surprised that the “rope” hat has become so in demand among both golfers and the NFL.
  19. How’s that different than the Wilson Foundation giving away $1B? And I’m really asking because I don’t desire to read the details of either. I think they are both registries though.
  20. It still amazes me that people buy into all the rhetoric. The contracts are 95% standardized. Guys sign in free agency in less than an hour. A contract not being signed is the result of an agreement not being reached. There is no way they spend the summer negotiating anything.
  21. Just a response to your saying it’s not any kind of heavyweight.
  22. 176 is light heavyweight in boxing
  23. Obviously the number changes slightly depending on roster moves but those were the exact numbers on opening day last year. As for Rosen, I would go with light heavyweight but he plays a game I think you’d appreciate.
  24. NHL average is 6’1” and 198lbs to be exact
