Any team can win a single game. Heck the Sabres did it every once in a while ten years. In a seven game series between close teams, being physical matters. You can pretend it doesn’t. Adding a Dalton Smith does not matter. Ever. It was a dumb point to make. No one ever thought that adding him was going to help the Sabres win.

If he indeed was given a timeout (which I highly doubt), I'm guessing it was for his criticism of the officiating in the Boston/Carolina game the night before. He was brutal (and wonderfully refreshing, even though even I thought he over the top and wrong 😂). It was still nice to hear an on air talent saying it.
