Grigs was 50.57% in the QMJHL last year and 51.33% this year. Not a huge improvement but not bad either. Granted, he'll be playing against NHL talent now but he seems to be a quick learner.
BTW, anyone who wants some youtube clips of the scrimmage just click here
FWIW, Kevin Porter and Nick Tarnasky would have been subject to waivers and DR didn't want to risk it so they didn't play tonight.
Note: Snow called DR and gave him the heads up that they would be taking Finley at the waiver wire.
When a hockey player bends over, grabs his shorts, leans back and takes a big breath in, cringes and bends over again, you get a good idea what happened. lol
So? Did you buy one of the 18,000 tickets left while you were there?
Stafford got robbed by Enroth on a great glove save.
Miller has a few "That's another Toyota big save" moments.
They did seem to be a bit off with the puck/stick coordination. Many times they shot and wiffed or passed and wiffed. Rusty.
Never seen Biega before but he was throwing it everywhere. To the point of "what are doing hitting me like that" meme.
And yeah PA. Vanek took one in the hand and limped off and a shift later took a slapper in the boys. You could see him saying "oh what the hell"!
May have caught a glimpse of a WTF wave too.
Most of the time they had two lines of NHL guys going up against each other F-E-S vs V-H-P and then the AHL guys (or Scott v Kaleta) matched up, same for defense.
Vanek-Hodgson-Pominville looked good
Foligno-Ennis-Stafford looked good. You just can't catch Ennis. To use a well known phrase, "he could stick handle himself out of a phone booth".
Attendance reported during the scrimmage at 10,175 or something close.
Got a good chuckle out of the crowd.
John Scott and Kaleta seemed to have a good relationship. They were going after each other, playfully. the whole game. At one point Duffer was interviewing Kaleta by the benches and Scott came over as he was getting off the ice and gave him a stick tap to the boys.
Just got back. I'll try and remember but give me some questions to answer?
1) Grigorenko: huge round of applause for the shootout, obviously a crowd favorite. Always, and i mean always, in the right spot defensively and offensively. He went around Pysyk like he was a pylon on one shift. Took two strides, if that and was from one blueline to the other and on top of the net.
2) Vanek: he's got to stop trying to the toe drag. He just can't do it. MOVE YOUR FEET!!!!
3) Most of the first and second they seemed to be going through the paces. Until 3 minutes left they started hitting and trying very hard to score.
Sabres sold over 30,000 tickets yesterday. I went in today just to check on availability of some games. 2 seats next to each other, best available, Section 322
