Clear cross-check, guess we're not calling those. -
There are no bad guys here, man. It's just a bad situation. Jack can get that treatment anytime he wants, the Sabres aren't stopping him from doing it. His desire to continue having this particular NHL contract is the only impediment. If the surgery is so important he should just take the boatloads of money he's already made and get on with things.

They're good hockey players. They don't scare me though. -

The Bruins aren't the big bad boys they used to be. Pretty average goaltending, some aging vets in the forward corps. Good players but no real stars. Decidedly beatable. -
Eichel just gonna have to sit and wait
-
I don't think any team trading for Jack is doing it with this current season in mind.
-
I wonder if the approach isn't so much to argue the merits of ADR as it is to try to show that there is a history of experimental surgeries having taken place in the NHL that would have been considered of similar uncertainty to ADR at the time they were employed. Prove that the Sabres caution over the ADR is out of line with league medical practices over the last, I dunno, let's say 20 years or something.
-
If they can put together a case that actually succeeds in the grievance, then I think that greatly benefits the Sabres, no? Wouldn't it basically solve all their issues with respect to stuff like insurance? Wouldn't it assuage some of the concerns other teams have too? If anything doesn't this improve Adams position and increase Eichel's value?
-
Losing Eakin hurts the roster. What a world.
-
I don't see how that works unless Eichel's grievance position is suddenly substantially stronger than it was six months ago.
-
It wouldn't surprise me if the "groundwork for a grievance" is basically just "build and present this case to the league and players association and we'll figure something out".
-
No hyperbole, he's killing the Flyers tonight and it's a riot
-
I think you're close to the mark on this. I expect that when something finally gets done it's going to be...a special situation.
-
I'm making the assumption that this trade doesn't happen until the offseason, fwiw
-
They also have all their picks. I think the cap stuff is manageable for them in the coming years. They have Dustin Brown, Alex Edler and Olli Maatta coming off after this season. Quick only has this year and next left, he's a guy the Sabres could easily take back as a cap dump and bury in the minors if they want. Kopitar is only signed through end of 23-24, then you get all of his cap space since I doubt he's coming back on anything other than a cap friendly vet contract if he isn't retired. LA can definitely do it if they want to and I think with Kopitar winding it down Jack is the best fit to sort of hand the team off to.

Looks like John Hayden will be in the lineup against the Brooins?

Yup, Hayden with R2 and Caggiula. So maybe they're giving Hino a rest. -
Is Don Granato the best coach the Sabres have had since Lindy Ruff?
darksabre replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Hockey players aren't super complex guys. Unless he was like physically or verbally abusive they'll take anyone in the room who makes the team better. Especially if he's humble and hungry where maybe he wasn't before...
