Right, I get that it's a big and crazy idea, but I just think we've really corrupted the institution of education in the country and at some point things are going to have to change. It trickles down to the local level too, where schools are all too willing to cut funding for education and the arts in order to make sure the football team can exist. We have to break this trend, especially with college football. It's gone too far. No other sport has this kind of power over education at any level.

Federal law. Cap school athletics spending so that college sports goes back to being something you do to supplement your college experience, school spirit, etc. Then maybe we can get back to colleges being about academic pursuits instead of sports. People wonder why education spending has ballooned. Maybe lets not dump billions into college football. I like the way hockey is structured. College hockey is an option but it's not the sole feeder of the NHL, and kids who don't want to go to college can go play in any number of feeder leagues to the NHL. A lot of college hockey players are actually there to get a degree. A lot of them finish school and leave hockey for actual careers. I'd love to see where all the college football players who don't belong in college and don't make it in football end up. I bet it's not pretty.

I would like college to spin its teams off into minor league development teams so there can be no pretense that any of these kids are there to do anything but play football. Colleges shouldn't be spending the money they spend on their football teams. Athletics is fine, I'm a bro who likes college sports. I just think it's gotten to be too crazy.

My only problem with college football is that it shouldn't be college football.

This is what I wanted, in a backwards kind of way. I hate putting my faith into a team that is actually worse than I thought. Bylsma was trying to do that with these guys, hope that you can make them look as good as possible by covering up the flaws that would stop them in their tracks if they lucked into a playoffs spot. I don't want that. I hate that. I'd rather they just be bad.

I think this is exactly what is happening. Bylsma sheltered them with his "try not to lose" methods because he knew he didn't have the horses to play any other game. But all that does is hurt your ability to evaluate your players and where your team is at. I think Housley and Botterill are taking this opportunity to really see what they have. And it doesn't look good. Our defense is a mess.

Pixel 2 XL looks like it's in my future as well. I figure my warranty replacement 5X should last me another 6 months so that buys me some time to replace it, since there's no way they'll give me another warranty replacement :lol:

Just to follow up since I don't remember what thread we were talking about it in, but as expected my Nexus 5X has bricked again. It's a damn shame. My warranty was up in June but since I have the protection plan they're replacing it free of charge for the second time in less than a year. I couldn't be more satisfied with Google's customer service, but these 5X phones are garbage.

Tough to unload that contract. I feel bad for Bogo. Wish the guy could stay healthy. Botterill did the best he could to try to make sure we had some guys with NHL experience to take up space, but losing Ristolainen is a big blow. He's one of those guys you need to be an iron man.

This is what happens when you have no defensive depth. Risto out and we're done. Kid might not be Pronger, but he's crucial to us even having a shot at winning right now.
