I didn't make the Yoko joke. I defended Bob Sauve's honor when it was assumed he was making a racist joke and not a Beatles joke. You're use of the word understandable is wrong. I'm not saying it's understandable Murray used that slur; that would suggest sympathy for him. I was trying to understand why he used it. Just my opinion of course, but I believe he used it because Kim was meddling in his hockey domain and not sticking to the business side as we all understood to be the lay of the land in the organization. I think this is one problem people have with liberal/progressive thinking and tactics. If you want to discuss why the c-word got used, be prepared to get called a misogynist.

Does herd immunity rely on the idea that if you had it, you can't get it again? If protection is short-lived as has been speculated, you might even have people who were sick in March getting infected again now. The length of protection is still a great unknown. But a lot is being learned about who's vulnerable. The CDC put out a statement yesterday I think that downplayed age and basically said anyone of any age with certain underlying conditions is vulnerable. Hypertension alone doesn't look as risky now; for a while now they've been saying it's only moderate to severe asthma that is a concern, not simply "asthma."

I didn't say I liked the word. Just that it never made any sense that Tim would resort to using it. If you're bothered by the paint remark, go talk to Terry. He's the one who assigned Kim to redecorate the place, back when the Sabres owner was Terry Pegula. You've had a bad week on here.

What do you take from the article? Do you draw any conclusions about how the process of hiring coaches works?
-
I got you beat. I once pulled up to the wrong side (granted, not my vehicle), then swung around to the other side, of course still on the wrong side before pulling away too embarrassed to face the attendant who had watched the whole sad affair play out.

Also I don't fear the rich. You don't scare me one bit.

The board? You're one of the last holdouts. Don't act like you have much support in opposing the idea that they meddle.

I bet it doesn't get named on certain news sites. Unmitigated capitalism? Fine. Social cause? We won't mention the name.

It's never going to be that cut and dry. There's not going to be a picture of Terry standing over the lifeless body of Sabretooth holding a bloody knife. Of course, even then you'd claim Terry could have merely been the one to remove the knife in an attempt to save 'tooth's life. You're only disagreeing because you can't stand the idea of agreeing with me or are too proud to admit you were wrong. Terry confessed in 2013-ish and Kim just today. What more do you need to see? It's funny though. Kim was never put on trial when clearly she should have been. The whole picture is emerging, which is good. She had a lot of people fooled with her, "I go to the business side and Terry goes to the GM side" quote. Tim Murray's slur is starting to make a lot more sense. At first I wondered why he'd be that upset at the paint choice in the trainer's room.

Are we allowed to mention the name of the new arena in Seattle? I'm quite serious. @spndnchz @nfreeman

The larger question was how a coach who views the second-highest paid player so differently than the GM gets hired in the first place. That's the disconnect.
-
This doesn't sound like a normal sign-off. This sounds like the GM signs off on the owners' decision.

I had no idea we were such allies! I'll be in this saucer on the left and you can be in that flying slingshot thingy on the right.

Everything Sabres Uniform Related - Royal Blue Please!

More to the point of what I was getting at: People want to go back to the original colors. What shade? No one thinks of what logo they are asking for when they want the original uni. The logos also changed quite a bit. Here's a game-worn Martin from 1975. The blue is more like what we've been wearing (acknowledging it might not be true to reality). In the logo the buffalo has time traveled to the future with a snarky, ironic raising of the eyebrow. Here's Perreault a year or two later, also game-worn, in a much brighter blue, and the buffalo is tweaked again. There are many more on gamewornauctions.net, so someone could have a lot of run really breaking down the color and logo changes. There's no debate, really. People want the current logo and a brighter, royal blue. They will get it and be happy, as will I. However, no one should make it about being 100% historically accurate to the 70s or anything, because it was a hound's breakfast back then. The interesting question is whether anyone noticed or cared. -
I'll say this. As far as Siths go, you're one of the good ones. Does today's article shed any light on how Jeff Skinner ended up playing on the second line, second PP unit and rarely in OT under RaKru?

OK, we're on the same page. 78-79 Perreault game-worn. I mean, that is ATROCIOUS! -

We might be talking about different things. I'll try to find the images I saw of the logo. I'm pretty sure it was well before 1980. -
I think NY has done a good job on testing. In fact the governor said a few weeks ago there were excess tests and anyone who wanted one should go get one. Not the case in my part of PA. It's still symptomatic testing only. I got a test at a nursing home where I work as part of universal facility testing, but the results were to be available only within five business days, plenty of time for infection to spread. That was over a week ago, and I haven't heard any result. I'm now assuming only positive results would be communicated.

Other owners don't eat contracts? I would agree to some extent with the "crap shoot" theory. But are you contending a GM wouldn't have a better chance at making a good hire than an owner? Why do I think you were on the OJ jury?

Same here, but I'm going to blame the lighting. There's no way the Sabres aren't going to give the fans exactly what they've been screaming for en masse. I THINK if you laid out the uniforms they wore for the first 10 years, you'd see different shades of blue. I KNOW the logo was slightly different from year to year, especially in the early days. Things were pretty loosey goosey in the 70s and I don't think anyone cared. -
It's starting to feel like piling on, but if she wants to keep offering seasonal, organic word salads topped with corporate buzz words... https://buffalonews.com/2020/06/24/buffalo-bills-buffalo-sabres-kim-pegula-sean-mcdermott-jason-botterill-nfl-football-nhl-hockey/ So... "Pegula People." A lot to unpack in this article, even in just that one quote. I'll start with why don't the Pegulas let their GMs hire their own coaches? GMs might be interested in the nuances of pesky little things like coaching strategies and X's and O's. This is actually quite a development, even if Brawndo had the Pegulas pegged to the Housley hire a while back. It's confirmation, anyway. The Trial thread is redeemed, once again.

The blue looks fine in person (at least on authentic sweaters in Sabres Store lighting), but it doesn't look as good on TV. Except... I forget which arena it was, but the lighting was such that the blue looked fantastic. That said, no problem here with a brighter blue to come.
