  1. When did you start caring about that?
  2. Montour seemed frozen after that hit.
  3. See, that shot by Sam needs to go in. No bad luck involved.
  4. The Sabres are really trying again.
  5. Good post. But, no offense, I want to cut myself.
  6. I couldn't watch last night but watched the last 10 minutes today with a particular focus on Eichel. He was fine. A nice Eichel-ish rush up ice and I think he hit the post. Solid keep in at the line. He tipped a shot just over the net from a bad angle — I think that was the shift Hall carried the puck in and kept the puck. That stood out to me as an illustration of what some folks are talking about. Jack's not yet the guy I expect to do something when it counts. (Up for debate: is that a comment on Jack, on me, or on the franchise — so few of their games put Eichel in a position to "come up big.")
  7. You just wait 7 to 10 years! (See also: Dahlin thread.)
  8. Is Tom Selleck the new Wilford Brimley?
  9. Younger folks won't know, but he was a major cultural phenomenon. His nightly show on CNN was often must-watch. I called his radio show once to talk about Sports Channel America's coverage of the NHL. He wasn't interested in talking about it. Can't blame him.
  10. Every team has the talent and chances. Including the 1975 Caps and the 2014 Sabres. This is professional hockey. Results matter.
  11. This era. And it's the biggest problem any team/player can have. It goes to talent, not always luck.
  12. You've been watching the Sabres too long.
  13. ink is first star of this thread. Unseemly to the max. Imagine — there's something we DON'T KNOW about a Buffalo Sabre, and it can't be divined by our hockey scholars. Heads are exploding, quietly.
  14. Near-total disdain for social distancing at a certain major event yesterday was disappointing but expected. Not a political statement, because it clearly cuts both ways — but until leaders model the proper behavior, how can the folks be expected to follow? Of course they've been vaccinated, get daily testing and will have easy access to the best meds if they get sick. Social distancing: you stay six feet away from others whom you do not live with. No selfies, fist bumps, hugs, kisses, handshakes or huddles. Imagine not being able to get a kiss from your kids as you die in an ICU — but the new president is afforded that bit of humanity after taking the oath. You'd be mad. I mean, if you were still alive. (Bernie nailed it, though.)
  15. That's tonight.
  16. For so it had come about, as indeed I and many men might have foreseen had not terror and disaster blinded our minds. These germs of disease have taken toll of humanity since the beginning of things—taken toll of our prehuman ancestors since life began here. But by virtue of this natural selection of our kind we have developed resisting-power; to no germs do we succumb without a struggle, and to many—those that cause putrefaction in dead matter, for instance—our living frames are altogether immune. But there are no bacteria in Mars, and directly these invaders arrived, directly they drank and fed, our microscopic allies began to work their overthrow. Already when I watched them they were irrevocably doomed, dying and rotting even as they went to and fro. It was inevitable. By the toll of a billion deaths man has bought his birthright of the earth, and it is his against all comers.
  17. There's a central casting look for Flyers players.
  18. Now they went from 13:07 to 12:15. I'm so confused.
