GDT: Washington at Buffalo, 3/15/21 7pm MSG, WGR

Dude. Do you really think the league felt the need in a virtually decided game to dust off a replay rule in order to... what? Ensure a MFT wins? The onus is on you. And if it has never happened, so what? -

This seems to have the whiff of truthiness.

Skimmed the thread. What I took from it was that some are upset that the NHL followed its procedures to overturn a travesty of a penalty call. Because Chara/Ovechkin/Buffalo or something. And all the other usual stuff. -
If only the News were more positive.

I'll ask again. My recent FBI profiler comment wasn't a joke. Do the Sabres consider psychological makeup when acquiring players? Who will thrive on a crummy team with a current losing culture and a recent history of failure with dimwit owners, an unqualified GM and an outside the box coach in a small Rust Belt city with three months of nice weather? Find those guys. I think Cozens might be one of them. In other words, why on earth did they think Staal and Hall would be good fits. Their performances were all too predictable.

He fell. The kick was sneaky. -

Terry has been the POHO since Day One. Hell, Terry has always been the POHO of the Buffalo Sabres. (redrum) I don't think any of the above is evidence that Black was making hockey decisions. Day to day operations is business stuff, as is making the franchise Hockey Heaven. The schedule issue is Ted taking a cue from Darcy (I'm almost certain is was still Darcy). Here, the GM is making the hockey call and Ted is assisting. The last quote is Ted as voice and face of the franchise. He was basically playing the role of press secretary — he had a regular slot on WGR IIRC. Jen Psaki is not POTUS. -
The questions are inherently and objectively profound — all of them. I was not trying to toot my own horn, but if I did, it would be cheese, glorious, cheese.

Skinner slew-footed him. It's funny that few noticed or cared. -
Did you see Terry sitting there while negotiations were ongoing for Hall? Did you hear his comment that the signing had turned the team into Cup contenders? There are levels of meddling. Did Terry instruct Kevyn to sign Hall? I don't know; I suspect he did. But did his opinion and presence affect decision-making? 100% yes. People act differently when the boss is hanging around. As GMTM said when he was hired in Buffalo, "My uncle (the late Bryan) told me, 'Remember, everyone has a boss.'" He said it because he knew he was entering a situation where the owner was a meddler. I don't know either. I am not in favor of bringing in an interim coach. It really doesn't matter at this point. Everyone knows what I want.

He wasn't a hockey president. -
I knew it.

Methinks you made up 2. I mean, it exists, but it's not a narrative. A narrative fetus maybe. As for an interim coach, don't kid yourself: Terry dreams of it. But, for once, he doesn't have the balls.

1. Is there a life after this one? 2. Why do our own farts smell so much better than others'? ("Well, Marge, I'll be in the closet today reading." h/t to the late, great George Carlin) No, seriously... 1. Assuming a crummy team for the foreseeable future (get out them actuarial tables), how do we as fans get back to enjoying the games as if they were meaningful in the standings? Should we stop chewing at the restraints? 2. Is the Buffalo Sabres franchise on the way out? Is it tenable long-term even if the team's performance turns around? Would it be devastating to you, or would you smile and be happy for what we had lo those many years? And for the conspiracy people, was it the plan in 2011 all along? (Terry gets to establish himself as a pro sports owner with an eye on the Bills, while Bettman has eventual cover to put the franchise in (fill in the blank) after it's run into the ground.) Finally, in light of the first part of 2., is it even more imperative to find a way to 1.? I'll listen and hang up.

Do I have this right? Jack injured himself lifting, shooting a puck in training camp and on a routine puck battle along the boards behind the net?
-
God bless, GA. I wish I could hug you while we wimper softly. We're all trying to fix things in USSR. But nothing will change until Soviet Machine is gone.
-
So I guess we can forget Jack going 4-7-11 to win the Conn Smythe while playing with a groin pull or something. The stuff of NHL legend. Someone will have to explain what injury accounts for coasting to the bench, floating on the backcheck and starting idle chit chat with a buddy after the whistle.

Uh, who's going to fire Adams? And for what? Following directives?
