If I were Rutherford arriving on the job, I'd think about changing so much of what the players have been seeing and hearing every time they've taken the ice. It's almost Pavlovian at this point. I'd throw Sabre Dance in there. Put it on hiatus. And the bench. Break it up and have a bonfire after the release of a bat over at Canalside. Change the style of the red line. Cancel culture took care of the intermission announcer, so there's your start. Desperate times... (One more if you'll indulge me. Buffalo has to have the worst rink in the league for delayed announcements of goals and penalties. For the love of God, stop announcing opponents' goals four minutes in real time later while the Sabres are hemmed in their own zone. And stop saying, "Pittsburgh's first goal scored by...")

Yes, based on the title. Historically, you might think small-market teams have wanted to suppress offense to keep player costs down. Or... the players they can afford are not suited to scoring goals (think Dom-era Sabres). Or both. You'd think that went out the winder with the arrival Terry Dad Sneakers.

It's not coming from fans. Reporters are putting it out. I don't see how such info. can be iron-clad and unequivocal, short of the involved parties confirming, which won't happen. There has to be a middle ground between provably true and fans throwing stuff against the wall.

Are you looking for a joint press release from Terry and the management parties confirming the agreements?

Remember when news started leaking out in late 2010 that Terry was buying the team? The Sabres responded. Assuming the players know about this Rutherford/Karmanos/Pegula stipulation stuff, we could see a similar response. I mean, it won't be the winning streak covering the rest of the season we'd see if the Pegulas announced they are selling, but... tonight's a win. Book it.

No. The record for consecutive losses, according to the NHL, is 17. The record for a winless streak is 30. That's what the Sabres are gunning for. I don't like it, but the league gets the final say.
