  1. All the thread started out about was this team having a chance to do what the 05-06 team did during the holidays... starting with the same record and with various other similarities that have been pointed out.
  2. He looked locked in. The eyes were darting beforehand.
  3. We literally have nothing to lose. Sabres goalies will have shutouts going every game the rest of the season.
  4. Wouldn't that be an advantage for the defending player?
  5. Why is the player with stick down first at a disadvantage? A few years ago the NHL smartly put the defending player in that disadvantage position rather than the visiting team, in an effort to boost scoring. Also... for center ice draws whose stick goes down first? Must still be the visitors.
  6. Anything to do with the linesman/men being sticklers about procedure? Are they now paid by the hour? It was maddening at times.
  7. A stock story he told over the years. Probably on the Top Shelf video they did years ago.
  8. Rob has developed the habit of introducing a list of items by saying, for example, "A. The Sabres need to dump the puck in..." He never gets to B. Never. Tonight he did. "Owen Power with the great penalty kill play. A. Being in the shot lane..." I'll take it.
  9. Narrator: They would have their chance.
  10. I was quoting Rick. His dream was to call the three of them touching the puck in succession.
  11. I cannot recommend looking up Gravy Boat Giveaway on urban dictionary.
  12. It didn't. Aripiprazole and Diet Coke did.
  13. Here a chuk there a chuk everywhere a chuk chuk. And it never happened. It. Never. Happened.
  14. Punch had bigger problems. Dodo started burning books and making him eat goddamned watercress sandwiches after his heart attack not to mention it was the dawn of nonfat salad dressings that Dodo got turned onto by one of her fellow book burners, and his beaver hats kept molting every spring.
  15. Of course they ain't going 14-2-1. Probably. But if this group really wants to make a statement about ending the drought, 6-2-1 at home and 4-3-1 on the road would work nicely.
  16. (Of course they can still do it with a loss, but just play along.) The 05-06 Sabres were nothing special before their road game on the Island on Thanksgiving Eve. They were 11-9-1. They did sit in the last playoff spot. Buffalo dipped the Sticks in their own tartar and went on a rip of 15-3-1 through New Year's Day, ending up just three points out of first in the East. The road was tough with 8 home and 11 away. With a win tonight the Sabres will host the Wild on Thanksgiving Eve with that same record of 11-9-1 and in a similarly uncertain playoff situation as Drury Briere and the boys. While in 05-06 the home and road games were fairly spread out, this time it's 7 of 8 at home and 7 of 9 on the road. The holiday sked culminates in Dallas on NYE. 14-2-1 will suffice.
  17. Great moments in Sabres-Sharks broadcasting history.
  18. A good, clean hit is a great part of the game and something that in and of itself is meant to shift momentum to your side. Why should a player have to answer for it and perhaps suffer a TBI? If you think that hit should be avenged for some strategic game flow advantage, why wouldn't you support grabbing a guy who just dingled and dangled and put it top shelf and beating the everloving ***** out of him to teach him a lesson and take away the energy boost of the goal? Of course the league would come down hard on it. It wants goals. Apparently it doesn't want good clean hits.
  19. I take it you think a goal scorer should also have to answer for what he did.
  20. I'm sure mom has talked to Jose about it.
  21. I'll write more tomorrow (today) but all the Sabres have done is give themselves a chance to do something special. That points percentage is nothing to celebrate and not close to where they have to be.
  22. Correlation does not... yada yada. Fighting after a clean hit is an abomination in the game.
