Not so sure. I'm either onto something or on something, but the Sabres clearly underperform when they follow the Bills. -

Did UB play any starters? My Bradford boys kept the score respectable. Div. 3 vs. Div. 1 is a tough spot to be in. -

But did they go to the Bills game? Show me your secrets. Last time I tried, 300 level seats toward the middle were pushing 100 bucks. -
Oops. https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Journal/Issues/2014/12/08/Franchises/Pegulas-One-Buffalo.aspx "When Pegula sold some of his company’s valuable drilling rights to Royal Dutch Shell for $4.7 billion in May 2010, he began speaking with Benson, a Pittsburgh attorney and CPA, about what he might do next. Benson suggested he read the book “Halftime,” which tackles precisely that question, offering suggestions of how to parlay success into fulfillment. Pegula came back with a suggestion for a second act that his friend wasn’t expecting. He wanted to buy the Sabres. Benson tried to talk him out of it, suggesting that if he wanted to buy a hockey team, he look for one in a more palatable market. He worried that in only a few years, Pegula would regret the purchase; that he’d find out that sports ownership wasn’t all it was cracked up to be; that missing the playoffs for years in a row felt far worse than drilling in the wrong spot. “You’ve got more money than you can ever spend,” Benson told him. “What we don’t want to do is wake up one morning and look at this with regrets.” But Pegula wouldn’t hear of it. He’d become a rabid hockey fan while living in Buffalo back in the 1980s, holding season tickets for 18 years. Kim Pegula was raised about 90 minutes east of Buffalo, in a small town where her parents still reside. Pegula wanted an NHL team, and it had to be the Sabres, who had delivered plenty of wins over the years but had struggled for more than a decade. “That’s where I want to go,” Pegula said. “I want to help Buffalo.”

Cliff Benson was Terry's accountant. As the story goes he convinced Terry to buy the Sabres after Terry cashed in his oil and gas holdings in 2010.

"I like hard working, gritty players." TP 2/22/11. Now why would an owner with no intent to meddle say something like that? Why not, My goodness, that'll be up to the GM. The answer was there on Day One.

Ask @Doohicksie.

Cliff Benson sighting. Hopefully he's in town helping Terry get out of the mess he got his friend in.

Was it really AI/bot? What if it was a test to see if the technology has gotten so good no one could tell? I thought it was humanoid. The AI voiceovers have gotten so good I can tell only if there's some glitch like pronouncing 1979 as one thousand nine hundred and seventy nine. They'll fix that. Strange times.

It's an ingrained habit at this point. The opposite of the sudden surge of retiring baby boomers to come, the concern for the Sabres franchise is a generational tipping point where the lifers start dying off and there's no one to replace them. -
Do the Sabres make the playoffs this season (Thanksgiving edition)

You be careful, friend. Wait... -
I'll cut you, bitch. When my car goes down an embankment in a lake effect blizzard near Springville, it is Woody who will fireman carry me into his truck. It is Woody who will nurse me back to health. It is Woody who will make me meatloaf. It is Woody. You be careful, friend.

Averaging a little under 16k and near the bottom of the league so no bueno. Also down about 3 percent from this time a year ago. But 16k in this market for this franchise is impressive IMHO. -

It's not any more complicated than that. Truly. Intro Bills presser, Terry couldn't distance himself from the Sabres fast enough. Think about the timing of the tank decision and talks heating up to buy the Bills. -

What if the plan is a scam? And it works with this fan base for some reason. 2. and 3. seem to be in opposition. I don't really agree with 3. Kim was running the business side and Terry was heading to the GM office to meddle. Kim confirmed the dichotomy. Now maybe Kim got involved in pucks, too, if the GMTM departure story is true. -

I had to listen to him on the radio yesterday. I noticed something when I really paid attention. It's a statement and a pause... a statement and a pause... and so on. There's no flow to his call. And he doesn't modulate his voice much. It just doesn't sound like a hockey game. A puck rolled past an empty Vancouver net and he said something and quit... the crowd was going nuts. Dan was quiet for a good 10 seconds. Punch is gettin upset! -

They are status quo. 12 points in the second 10 games was really good for this team the last two seasons. But so far in the third segment they are back to baseline. Three three game winning streaks and working on their third three game losing streak right now. They are the definition of meh. Again. -
Telly Savalas. Follow along.

Finally saw it. I had it all mixed up. It was a bad call but not an easy one to make. The linesman has to make the call when the first player reaches the dot. It was essentially a tie in the race to the dot with Cozens maybe by a nose. Tie to the defender? But Cozens clearly was gaining ground as proven by his reaching the puck first. The other part of the call once the first player reaches the dot is whether the puck will cross the line. I think the linesman was fooled by the direction of the puck. Bad call yes but not because the linesman failed to see Cozens touching the puck. The call had already been made.
